Yes, I still couldn't win. I think last time I tried was back in November. Let me check that file to see who I had gotten.
Level 35 White Mage
Level 34 Time Mage
Level 35 Black Mage
Level 33 Ranger
Definitely. For instance, Red Mage is an amazing class, but ONLY if you have another mage class. That's whyI mean you can also get some ridiculous synergies if you get stuff like mystic knight + ranger for the infamous Rapid Fire flare swords, but obviously those require getting two specific classes as opposed to the ones you mentioned which are pretty much always great regardless of what else you get
Yeah, Dual cast is great, but if you have nothing decent to use it with it's pointless. And yeah that combo sounds awfulDefinitely. For instance, Red Mage is an amazing class, but ONLY if you have another mage class. That's why
Thief/Red Mage/Beastmaster (or Geomancer)/Dragoon is the worst combo, because RM synergizes with nothing.
That's my biggest thing - Monk is amazing in W1. Thief is really good for stealing things early on, but doesn't even give any good secondary abilities. Monk at least provides HP+30%, which is a good reason to have Monks endgame rather than Thieves, which provide nothing.Monk is worse than Thief there. W1 is trivial with Monk + Red but both drop off hard. Thief has utility throughout and late in the game a Thief with daggers will be better than a Monk, especially once you have !Mug Chicken Knife.
Monk might legit be the single worst job. It's just offers so little. Easy early game, Focus can be used on another job to utilize the Chicken Knife, some jobs can appreciate a strength boost from Barehanded... and that's it. Nothing that can't be had from a better job.
Oh definitely. I'm just saying in context of other jobs that don't synergize well, HP+30% isn't bad. Thief's Flee skill is great, but ultimately you're gonna have to fight a boss. There is almost always something better than 30% HP to share around. I definitely value !Flee more than that (but I probably value it more than most people) but it isn't useful for bosses, of course.
But hey, different people play differently and are going to value jobs differently. Honestly, I'd rather have a Thief than a Knight in many job combinations, but I'm probably the only person that would ever say that since most put Thief in the bottom tier of jobs.
SO. EVERYONE HAS BEEN WONDERING WHAT #REGFORBIDDEN IS.
HERE'S THE BASIC IDEA. I DON'T WANT TO GIVE TOO MUCH AWAY BECAUSE HOW MUCH FUN IS THAT?
PLAY LIKE NORMAL. USE YOUR WIND JOB. UNLOCK YOUR WATER AND FIRE JOBS. USE THEM. UNLOCK YOUR EARTH JOB. THINGS MAY COME IN A SLIGHTLY WEIRD ORDER. THINGS MAY APPEAR NORMAL.
IN THIS RUN, BEFORE YOU ENTER THE VOID TO FINISH THE GAME YOU MUST TWEET #PUNISHME AT @FF5FORFUTURES. SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN.
ENJOY.
Oh god I am fucked
what the fuck have I gotten myself into lol
I think you were the person who told me this same strategy on Neogaf, but I only got Break on the first try and it never happened again relying on luck is some bullshit. Since the run is over I guess I could try all Black Mages now, but shit wouldn't the other ones start out with just Fire and Blizzard?Final boss? It should be very doable at that level with those jobs.
The magic lamp Odin summon can kill the back part. The RNG route is to spam break with casters on the lowest part of boss. If you aren't playing Natural you could get away with giving everyone black, and the time mage could even use Quick to double spam. The hitrate is going to be very low (8%) but existent, and you should be able to get it off before it kills you.
The last two parts should be easy alone, the only damaging attacks should be physical which can be entirely nullified by keeping the Blink spell up. And Grand Cross will still show up, but it's rarely going to ruin you with combinations of zombies, instant death, and low HP. With haste you should have plenty of time to recover from it. Shell should also reduce the chance of ailments being set.
The most important thing is that you try to deal damage as evenly as possible between the last two parts so they die at the same time. When only one target remains it basically goes into rage mode and can just destroy you in one turn.
I think having an option that is only usable with emulators is against the spirit of the event. Same reason why the gba jobs are never a part of the eventIt would be cool if they could use a randomizer for this as an option as well. Randomize the jobs you get at each crystal, the abilities, the items, ect. FFIV has a really detailed one I was thinking about diving into at some point.
But I never got to experiment with the GBA jobs.I think having an option that is only usable with emulators is against the spirit of the event. Same reason why the gba jobs are never a part of the event
I'm pretty sure they don't shun emulators for this, but you can always just use the PC version and maybe add a mod if you can't stand the updated graphicsQuestion from a complete noob that's considering doing this: do we have to use original hardware and game cartridges for this, or can we do that thing that everyone does but apparently I'm not allowed to mention, based on previous warnings that I've received?

Was thinking of doing this.
Does a normal natural run. sound like what I think it does.
Each character basically will get assigned their job and I won't have a full job party until the last crystal due to each crystal assigning/giving a new job?
lol me tooI
Jobs opening up now, Time Mage from Wind, so I get a Freelancer start.
I like your avatar. it's something I would wear.
in the snes version, there's only the thief for runningOuch, not having the ability to run is rough.
In 6 there was a relic that allowed you to run, anything similar here aside from rolling a Thief?
I'm playing the Super Nintendo version if that matters.
Seems like they started a day earlyI thought this was starting tomorrow but looks like plenty of people already started with how many people have unlocked new jobs.
Ah, I expected this but thank you for the confirmation.

Ah. I actually had remembered that being the case in the past but since I couldn't see anything like that on the website or here I wasn't sure if I was just misrememberingIt always starts at the end of The Run. The buffer is probably there in case RK can't start it on time for whatever reason or The Run ends up having something dumb that takes a lot of extra time (like 4 tablets with jobs that can't reliably beat Omniscient).
