You're right, I don't, but I've gone on record to say they have gotten way better and look pretty good now several times through the thread, especially over the last few days, so that's moot.

I'm just getting a good chuckle at how you can set your watch to the hyperbole that comes when they do well for a bit, no harm intended. Lots of teams had a few stellar matches, that doesn't make them all top tier all of a sudden, but they are definetly remind me of, say Shock or Fusion right now, good but extremely inconsistant.

Though obviously, Carpe alone elevates them above Fuel.

Yup and unless we improve we won't be a top team Season 2 and as things stand we're going to be knocked out of the Finals in the first round.

This Dallas team isn't a top team next season because they had a good run of results this stage. They still shown huge weaknesses.

NYXL cancelled scrims this stage. You saw Pine, Libero, and JJoNak all on Tracer this stage. Spider-Pine. Ark disappeared for like 3 weeks. Janus was in like all the time. Wizard said they didn't care about this stage. Everything you saw was a NYXL that was improvising every game. Core mechanics only, no set strategies for the other teams.

We've come very close to beating them, and I think we can beat them however I'm keeping my expectations bare minimum. It's better that way.

Stages 3 and 4 were terrible with expectations.

Man, I'm gonna miss OWL. I went from lukewarm in the Moth Meta to following it intensly and following multiple players/analyists/channels on Twitch and YouTube, discussing it with people and just having it become routine. Casters improved, video improved.

I know it's not technically over, but I definitely am gonna miss having this around 4 nights a week, even if I hardly can watch it live (EU and all). Wonder what S2 has in store for us already, what teams will rise and fall, what production will introduce next.

Happy that LAV was able to take the finals, back in stage 3 when they started coming together I thought that they were looking like a top tier team. (Regardless of NYXL's...shenanigans).

Sucks that we have to wait 3 weeks for the Playoffs though. But I guess that means it will be a different patch by then, so that's fine, I think

More importantly, it should be the highest quality possible when teams can really prepare for their opponents.

No announcement yet, they might mention a date at the end of the playoffs. My guess is that it's going to start at around the same time as the first one did, around January.

Grand finals is near end of July.

August 1st. Trading opens again.

6 new teams are being, it's the recruiting season starting September for these teams.

World Cup is happening at the same time. So is Contenders season 2.

World Cup finals in Blizzcon in November.

December - OWL S2 preseason.

January - Season 2 opens.

More teams means more matches so season 2 should be quite a bit longer.

So I was reading up on OWL expansion rules and it pretty much only sounds like expansion teams will have about a month of free agent exclusivity once unsigned players become free agents on September 9.

I'm wondering if this is enough for expansion teams? In terms of experienced OWL talent you're getting access to what the existing teams don't want. But with expansion being this big and the existing pool of players relatively small, I don't know if an expansion draft to take players signed to teams is feasible.

It seems like teams should've had to have slightly larger rosters, and then an expansion draft wouldn't be that big of a deal. Like, if each expansion team got to draft out 2 total players, and then fill the rest with free agency, I think we'd be seeing REASONABLY close quality next season and it wouldn't destroy the current teams, but if they really add 6 teams and they're entirely reliant on free agents, that's a real uphill battle to put something good together imo.

The biggest issue is just that the league has 12 teams now and talking about adding 50% more is a huge dilution of talent. It's not like most sports where you can have an expansion draft and literally pull an entire team from the existing ones - we can't just 'make' 6 more teams like that, but if you took 1 player from each current team, like a fourth tier player for example (3 protected ones per team), and essentially divided it into 2 per expansion team, and let them get some free agents to fill, I think 2 'good' players with first pick of free agency gives you a decent leg up. An expansion team is already an uphill battle in any sport, that many of them all at once is basically begging for the league to be 1/3 Shanghai Dragons quality play if they don't get any sort of help in something like this imo.

LFG doesn't care about rank, so it's only really good for Quick Play and Arcade.
