I'm not going to pledge allegiance to any million dollar corporation. I'll buy the hardware that offers the best value and experiences at that current time.

Who's to say the policies of any of them wont change 3 years from now? for better or worse.

Nope. Don't care about cross play as I'm fully single player person. Also don't care about BC. New consoles for new games. You want old games, keep your systems.

I'm not spending $400+ just to play old games. It's a nice feature but I want new experiences. For consoles that don't have many exclusives, BC can be nice for small libraries.

Roll on PS5 launch day.

No. Majority of friends play on Playstation and the few that aren't are on PC. No cross play with Xbox or Nintendo doesn't affect me.

To add to my previous comment, To switch, first Xbox would need to have a ton of exciting exclusives and great price point and awesome Japanese third party games.

Xbox mostly has halo and forza as exclusives and that's not enough for me.

I wouldn't dis-main from PS consoles unless they were aligning with Trump, and I've cared about/wanted cross-play since the PS3 era.

My choices are Switch, which I view as more of a support console, or the Xbox and I don't trust MS one iota. I'll buy a 360 sometime eventually, though.

When you look at it objectively, these are relatively minor issues. Sony is continuing to make great exclusive games and has a good online infrastructure, something neither MS nor Nintendo can say they do both of. BC is a bigger issue to me, to be completely honest and their track record is the best in the industry, PS3 > PS4 notwithstanding.

It would change my buying habits for sure. If there's a multiplayer game that has cross-platform on the other platforms but not on PS I'll definitely buy it on one of those other platforms. I really hope Sony gets with the program, cross-platform play is good for the consumer.

Hate it say it but no. Me and everyone I know has a PlayStation, that probably won't change with PS5.

They'll just become the secondary console for exclusives which is what they are for me now already. It's likely Xbox and Ps5 will be close in power and price so they aren't going to have any real appeal there either. Xbox has had better online for as long as they've really offered online services, so it's not surprising Sony is lagging behind again. They'll get pushed there eventually by Nintendo and Microsoft just like Microsoft did with all the 360 online features Sony later adopted.

Poll would have been great OP, and you missed it really bad. So far after reading few pages, I see mostly no one is switching just because of cross-play and they like Sony focus on SP games and high quality exclusives.

Dude..what the actual fuck are you going on about? PS4 most likely have a bigger online MP community than xbox. You think all these MP games sell so well on PS4 despite some MP social anxiety? At first I thought you are joking but apparently not. This has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever read on Era. If anyone should be subjected to pity it's you for believing the nonsense you are typing out

Pretty much this. It's ridiculous, tbh.

Considering that, with the Playstation 5, Sony keeps up with the same decision regarding cross platform gaming and worst, they keep up with some weird atitudes like blocking content from third parties, like the one we're seeing with Fortnite.

Will this make you change your future console?
Will this affect negatively the chances of you getting a new Playstation?

Or it's just a minor adversity that won't get in your way when you play the next God of War or the next Uncharted?
I don't care about crossplay at all and I care about cross progression even less than that.
I would choose platform based on games, that interrest me. This gen it was only PS4, last gen it was X360 and PS3. Next gen - who knows.

Nope, crossplay has never affected me and doubt it ever will. Is it a handy feature to have? Yes. Is it critical to be there? No.

I've yet to hear anyone talk about it in real life either. What seems to be a big hoohaa online, certainly seems to be going unheard everywhere else, and that's despite media coverage of the "outrage".

Crossplay doesn't matter that much to me and Sony's stance on it doesn't affect my purchase of the next console.
However, I do know that crossplay is something that would benefit millions of others and I encourage them to keep the pressure on Sony.

Well based on most of these posts Sony doesn't have incentive to do cross play. There are people who buy PlayStation on principal alone and that could be enough to keep Sony lagging behind. This will ultimately hurt the PlayStation brand, maybe not irreversibly, but it will definitely measurable.

This is kind of how I feel. I understand the outcry against Sony, but cross play really hasn't affected me or been something I've cared for pretty much ever. The only online MP game I play with any sort of consistency is Overwatch, and that's just randomly with friends on PC. Otherwise my MP is limited to the occasional couch coop game. So, would it be nice if Sony changed their ways on this? Sure. However, my reasoning for getting a Sony console or playing games in general is unaffected by cross play for the most part to the point I'd doubt I would ever notice it being implemented even if it was.

No it doesn't affect me at all. I focus mainly on SP games, and live in a country where Xbox is basically irrelevant, so none of my friends care about that system.
And the only people I know that buy Nintendo consoles, buy it for the first-party software.

So sure, it'd be nice, but it affecting a console purchase would never happen.

Nope. Moved to PC for my multiplayer needs since I don't feel like burning 60 bucks a year. Pretty much only use my PS4 at this point for exclusives and the PS5 will be the same

Nope, their exclusives are too good for me to leave, plus I've had every playstation console.
I don't really care for cross-platform multiplayer sooo them being against it doesn't affect me.

Honestly I find Sony's stance on backwards compat far more insulting and anti-consumer than this cross play shit. Cross play has never really been a big thing in consoles but BC has a pretty strong history.

Wouldn't move to Xbox for the BC obviously but it still pisses me off how good their BC is and then seeing the absolute fucking nothing Sony offers.

Nah, don't care about crossplay. What's important to me next gen is games (as always), BC and no always online shenanigans.

As someone who would use it a ton, I never get too mad at it's exclusion given all the numbers that show how few people ever really take advantage of the feature.

Feels like Xbox needs it to differentiate themselves right now more than anything. It's nice to have for those that want it, but an overwhelming majority of people really don't use it.

As long as Sony continues to own the studios that they own, and keep putting out quality stuff like they have been, no. I just have never cared about anything Microsoft has ever produced from a 1st party perspective.

I don't play that many online multiplayer games tbh, and I just don't care about cross play at all. That's not to say that I don't think Sony's stance on it is bullshit, but it's still not something that I care about enough to make me abandon the 1st party Sony games I love.

Going to echo the "no, I don't care about multiplayer" comments. It's just not something I feel strongly about.

Sony's first party is pretty god tier recently. They go blow for blow with Nintendo these days (not the same experiences exactly but definitely that same 'how are they doing this???' quality).

Cross play alone not huge but if they continue with their crappy policies then they will lose few, but their exclusives are so good that people forget and overlook lot of things.

Because of crossplay? hell no, Sony provides one of the most diverse and unique lineup of exclusives. why would I leave that behind because of a very minor thing like crossplay?

I always try to go into a new generation with an open mind, so I'll see what they offer.

Crossplay is really low on the list though, this generation it hasn't been an issue at all considering all my friends and family have PS4s.

Nope, not at all, i don't give a flying duck.
A console is a closed hardware environment where they can do whatever they want. If they stop using physical media or allow, like nintendo, to have non-playable games on physical requiring downloads then i wont get the next machine.
