Hopefully I'll have a car once this rolls around. RSVP'd yesterday for one about an hour away from me.

If there's one in Indy I'll definitely be there. I start my new job next week so I won't have to work Saturdays anymore.

What a depressingly empty thread.

Some small part of it might be the site not working. Yesterday it wouldnt load. Today, Chrome flags it as malicious and won't let me through.

I'll be there, but I had to post in this thread just to figure out when and where the demonstration will be.

In case you're too far from a protest city or are otherwise able to attend, maybe hit this up.

If she can get more of the Geek&Sundry community involved it could be big and best of all helpful.

Now I'm kind of wishing it wasn't the same day as the protest.

This is finally gaining national interest in Mexico.

The upcoming national elections and the Mexico vs Germany game dominated the news but finally we are seeing this disaster gain more attention in the media. Still not enough, but better than before.

Doubt the president of Mexico, Peña, is going to make something, he probably just wants his nightmare reign to end and go home with the millions he robed.

There is no apathy you people. FFS this is a goddamn offshoot of a video game forum that happens to also have an OT section. It's not going to be a hive of civil resistance. Especially since message boards, such as these, are a dying breed on the internet as a dozen immeasurably larger social media platforms have basically made them obsolete.

It's a damn miracle that this place exists at all.

Hmm based on this it would be nice if Twitch and other platforms would officially get on board.

Huh, there is one in my town. I'm in a nominally republican, though not Trump friendly town. Seems the least I could do, and maybe I'll bring the kid.

It is the kind of place people move once they have kids so perhaps it's hitting close to home. For reference we did not have a March for our lives event which surprised me. The next city did.

Protests happen every weekend here in DC and are ineffective for this administration. We need a group or representative to start coordinating civil disobedience, public strikes, and other actions.

DSA forcing administration officials to flee dinner is at least a start.

The first Women's March help mobilize people, get them involved in the political process, and helped lay the groundwork for the subsequent flipping of seats including Virginia. Leading to Medicaid expansion there.

The Muslim ban protests brought public attention to the ban and helped bring enough dollars together to fight back in the courts.

The March for Science helped galvanize the scientific community into finally coalescing into resistance.

The March for Our Lives continues it's voter registration push and we'll see how that plays out come November.

I have no time for defeatism.

And none of those stopped the administration from pursuing its agenda, separating families, starting a trade war with our allies, or passing billion dollar tax cuts for the rich.

Look if Protests help you keep engagement levels up and vote in elections than by all means March around every weekend. If you want to shame or stop member of the administration now they won't cut it.

The administration has proved that they have no shame. And generally the GOP - by way of McConnell and Ryan - are not inclined to stop them. The only ways are to raise awareness to raise funds to fight things in court, raise awareness to peel off random GOPers as has happened the last few days, and to vote. Protests stopped the ACA repeal dead in its tracks last year. Boycotts work occasionally...like the March for Our Lives has done. Strikes worked this year for teachers...where they also marched. They are also the last real bastion of organized labor.

I'm actually surprised my city isn't listed as a location. The closest ones are pretty far, hopefully something closer gets added by the 30th or I might not be able to help.

Any ideas for signs?

The website has some good ones

Reach out to anti trump/progressive groups to see if they are thinking about setting one up, offer to help.

Many of these protest cities are not being put on by official organizations, but instead by public volunteers

What are you trying to accomplish? Really, ask yourself that. Peoples' hearts are on fucking fire with rage, and they're gonna try and make the world a better place, and what do you do? Sit there like a lump, and tell us that it can't be done. Ridiculous. I don't give a shit if any of those monsters feel shame. I'm fucking mad, and I'm gonna drill it into every last one of their motherfucking skulls, until we have our country back. If you don't like that, that's fine. Stop acting like a bitch and get out of my fucking way.
