Genuinely surprised to see zombie games continue to do so well. Looks like Days Gone is really gonna blow up when it comes out.
And as per usual, posters who have no idea about how toy sales work and Nintendo's strategy are already deeming Labo a failure. You do realise Nintendo used to be a toy company right? They know how this works, they don't care that Labo ain't selling gangbusters right out the gate. As it's been said, Christmas season is going to be the real challenge, if Labo isn't selling huge by then you can probably chalk it up as a failure.

Guess all those 2 week free trials of gamepass so people could play SoD2 must have helped haha. Pretty amazing, shows that era bubble yet again. Game was going to bomb according to era.

Seems like a great month for everyone, great for the industry.

Perhaps I'm forgetting something/misunderstanding, but you don't have digital for the Wii U version either though, right?

I think the implication is that digital sales are likely a higher percentage of overall sales on Switch versus Wii U so the physical comparison wouldn't be all that fair.

Still, it would give us some point of comparison.

Congratulation, SoD2!

Far cry 5 is still placed so high. I'm curious whether Assassin's creed would dethrone it.

If state of decay 2 can do this well with mediocre reviews and being on game pass I think days gone will do okay

You say 'being on Game Pass' like it's a challenge to overcome. Everything so far points to it actually being helpful for sales. Assuming that's true, Days Gone not being on a Game Pass service will be a hindrance to sales.

It seems Xbox Game Pass was a good idea after all. No surprise for me but for some though ....

Not going to lie, it's a major surprise for me. I thought Game Pass would cannibalise retail sales in a major way. Then again, perhaps it still might as it gains in popularity and more users start to adopt it. Based on SoD2 announced player numbers, we can assume that the number of users adopting Game Pass still isn't super high yet.

No surprise. I rarely take people's expectations serious around here, especially when they don't know business and think they know everything.

This is a small forum of fairly hardcore gamers, selected from the pool that were willing and able to join and post despite not insignificant barriers put in place.

The result is an extremely unusual subsample of the gaming public (this isn't a bad or good thing btw) that you cannot and should not view as representative of the gaming public. People who generalize the tastes of this forum to the broader gaming market are just making a horrible mistake in their analysis.

Great news for all platform holders and, by extension, fanboys.

Nintendo software doing the best since May 2011 is great news, given it doesn't even count digital here. This was clearly all down to The Funk.

Game Pass is turning out to be one of the best decisions MS has made with the Xbox Division in years

I suspected as much when it was announced but its having even a larger impact than I optimistically thought it would

But who do you think, by and large, is playing Donkey Kong and Mario Kart? All these games that are primarily aimed at kids have to be bought by their parents - so why is labo so special?
Do you really think Mario Kart and Donkey Kong are primarily aimed at kids? The people I see playing Mario Kart are all adults, and they specifically get together to play it too.

SoD2 charting at the top based on revenue while being $30 AND on gamepass is pretty insane.

Guess Phil wasn't kidding about gamepass helping games out. Glad Detroit charted high as well.

The amount of 5 years olds with a switch and informed parents is not enough to sustain a market.

But that's just me.
This is gonna be a problem for Labo. I coach youth sports. None of the kids are talking about Labo, they spend all the time in the dugout talking about Fortnite. I don't know if any of them have even heard of Labo.

Yup. Crazy.

Why do you think Sony is scrambling to offer downloads now? LOL

Do we have the individual rankings?
I'm curious about the split XB1/ Windows in terms of platform for SOD2.

That's an... interesting way to look at it. But I would say no, not being on game pass should not hurt days gone sales. Are you hedging in case it performs poorly?

It's striking to me considering how buggy and half-baked the co-op is in SoD 2.

It's clear that a game being 'buggy' has no correlation to sales. Most don't care. YouTubers make careers out of playing buggy games. SoD2 leads NPD at half the price of everything else on the top 20 and PUBG announces 50 million copies sold. Bugs don't stop people enjoying games.

Wow State of Decay. Talk about a David vs. Goliath situation. Congrats to Undead Labs the game deserves all the success in the world.

Hi Benji. Can you explain us... How? Like, it makes no sense how a fixed, low priced subscription is beneficial to anyone but consumers, unless the business is set up in a very innovative ways. Definitely curious.

I mean we were talking about word of mouth, not stopping sales. Tons of Bethesda games are examples of buggy games doing well sales wise.

Sure will and will change landscape going forward.

Yeah we'll see.

No, I'm just repeating info from everyone else in the know that has (correctly it seems) stated that (so far) it appears Game Pass is actually aiding sales of first party software, not hindering it.

SoD2 did great only in the US. Other places it was pretty meh or outright bad
Do you have a source for that claim or are we just randomly talking out of our asses again?

Every country I checked the game was or even still is #1 in the most purchased Xbox Store charts. For weeks. Both the standard and ultimate editions.

State of Decay 2 is really fun, but Undead Labs should put more effort in polish the games (State of Decay 1 has the same problem).

Maybe now that they are part of Microsoft Studios, they can do that with bigger budget.

I been waiting for more updates to try SOD2.

I am happy for Undead and MS. I feel this game will get a lot better with more patches and content.
