Yeah if Crawford is done, then so are the Hawks for awhile. Delia is about the only goalie in the Hawks system with any potential but hes not ready.

Pure skill wise, for sure. But the more years we suffer, the more i'm shifting away from the straight BPA mentality to a BPA-that-fits-our-25-year-centre-ice-blackhole mentality.
Yep. And I'd still love to have him. But I'm at the point now where there's almost no point in getting talented scoring wingers without bolstering our centre depth for the first time in 25 years. Kotkaniemi is definitely a risk, but at this point I'm on board with taking a flier on a guy we wont even see hit the NHL for another 2 years in hopes he could work out like Barkov did for Florida.
A lot of speculation mostly. But no reports have come out linking the Canucks to Bouchard. That and their whole "speed and skill" mantra of last year means Bouchard doesn't really fit the bill.
Have a feeling Panthers are going to try to trade down for Bode Wilde, which I will be disappointed if "Born to be Wild" isn't playing when he is drafted.
Some in the media think Canucks like Bouchard. Big shot RHD. But I dunno. I hope not. What if Hughes and Dobson are gone? You think they take Tkachuk over Bouchard or Boqvist?
I love how NOBODY wants Tkatchuk but he's still in the top 5 of every scout, it's kinda surreal to watch.

He feels like a holdover from a different era. Like if this were 1998 instead of 2018, I'm sure every team would be salivating over him. In 2018 though? When the first words I hear about a prospect are any combination of "grit", "bloodlines", "character" or "intangibles", I immediately tune out.

I haven't seen a lot of reports like that. I've seen more reports saying the Canucks aren't high on him and their guy is Dobson/Hughes. If both those guys are gone I do think they take a winger and they're guranteed one of Tkachuk or Wahlstrom if that's the case.
But realistically, Dahlin, Svechnikov, and Zadina are gone and probably one of the wingers/Kotkaniemi. So there's a good chance they get their Dman.

Justin Bourne has a great Q&A posted on The Athletic. He offers some great insights into the mind of Kyle Dubas that's more than the random guessing Dreger does. Some new learnings:
- Dubas did not like the Martin contract from the beginning. Almost no chance he's on the team 2019-2020
- The Kessel trade wasn't necessarily a Dubas deal; they were offered a different package that Dubas preferred.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that Dubas really wanted Murray in that deal. Ended up being the right move for Pitt to hang onto Murray obviously.

Dubas is going to go Billy Beane on Babcock and get rid of all the useless grinders Babcock loves. Get ready for four scoring lines and 6 puck-moving defencemen.
I didn't like the Kessel trade at the time - I thought he was young enough to still help the Leafs on the other end of the rebuild and having Kessel instead of Marleau would be a pretty decent upgrade. But I underrated Kapanen who looks to me be a decent player even though he hasn't played a big role in Toronto yet. Still, you could have made up for Kessel hurting your draft position in Matthews' draft year by just finding a worse goalie and you'd have Kessel helping you win now.
