Someone on reddit speculated that the neighbor's kids had powers instead of Chris and we will be playing as that kid.

Still don't know how I feel about the story not revolving around Max and Chloe anymore. So far the only significant tie-in to the first game in this demo is just that Chris's Mom went to Blackwell and she had a art book by Mark Jefferson.

LMAO I accidentally finished it in 45 minutes because I had no idea the end was coming up. Gonna definitely play through it again as I have a bunch of stuff left unexplored.

Enjoying it so far. A little maudlin in places but its heart is in the right place.

So

We never did get that christmas tree T-T
Chris has a good head on his shoulders, and seems to be pretty aware for a kid his age. Except for matters concerning his dad's behaviour. Should have known it was never gonna happen. Although...
Apparently his dad did buy him the new console he was yearning for, so there's that.

Oh shoot I was thinking that exact same thing. I knew I wasn't that original haha

Finished it in roughly two hours. It was cute but not all that invested in Chris.
I feel like the end confirms the rumor that the LiS2 will focus on those two brothers. Seems like part of the mystery in the next game will be concerning Chris' mom's death.

Can't say the sold me on Chris. I'd bite maybe if it was older Chris but if we play as him as a kid I'm probably out on this one. Also pissed at the bad kojima wanna be pin code, after exhausting everything in game I caved and looked it up... They have got to be kidding me.

LiS is a tough game to follow up and I don't think this will do it for me. Unless things change a lot from the demo tease to final game.

A couple continuity nods.
The Mom owned a coffee table book by a familiar artist.

She's also what sounds like a distinguished alumni of Blackwell Academy.

Just finished it. These folks really know how to write some extremely real stuff.

This was a nice preview of LiS2 and I'm excited to see where the game goes.

Man, that was such a cool little thing. Really got me excited for LiS 2, whatever the connections to Captain Spirit it may ultimately have. Feeling
like the two brothers at the end are probably the main characters, while Chris will be a supporting one? Could be the case.

Also kudos for the technical improvements over the original.

I thought this came out tomorrow. I'm glad it's out today, because it looked great at E3 and I adore Life is Strange.

These impressions have me excited to download it.

This is how I read the ending. It seems straightforward. Why else would they be introduced at that point?

This just doesn't launch on Steam for me (it silently fails). Any tips? The only other game I have installed that exhibits the same issue is Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (I'm going to replay it someday!).

Cool game, will be keep an eye on LiS 2. Honestly I'm glad we don't follow Max again, saving Arcadia Bay and that's it, some small nods are enough.

This LiS universe could be expanded nicely, a Life is Strange Gaming Universe... LiSGU! :V

This was fantastic. It just about crushed me when I realized the significance behind Mantroid.

Not gonna lie, I should've seen the darker turn coming. The E3 trailer definitely felt like the setup for something a bit more whimsical, and while it did have bits and pieces there, it got very real at times. Didn't quite do everything, so I might have to go back and scan over things again.

Also, my first reaction was that it was one of the other kids who saved Chris, not that he had powers himself. It makes a lot of sense considering how it felt like a stark contrast from Chris' clearly imagination-based powers throughout the rest of the game.

People are saying we are going to play the older boy in 2, but it seems weird that they would focus on the younger one if that was the case. I wonder if they'll be a time skip though.

I think there might be a time skip BUT Captain Spirit is set in 2016.
LiS was set in 2013, the year development on the game began. Development on LiS 2 began in 2016. Means they either will break tradition or there won't be a time skip. Now I think this could be problematic as a lot of people, including me associate LiS with teenage drama and characters - playing a 9 or 11 y/o would remove a lot of agency from the game.

OTOH we could also play the older brother from the end of Captain Spirit but that zoom-in on the younger dude's face makes me doubt that.
Guess we'll have to wait for August for some new infos :/

I mean one game shouldn't define what the whole series has to be about. The series doesn't have to be stuck on teenagers just because the first one did.

Man, I loved this. Felt like coming back home the instant I hit New Game and heard the music, looked at the familiar scenery...

Honestly, I'm kinda glad I didn't play the prequel. The time gap between Life is Strange 1 and revisiting this universe now made for a really warm experience. Can't wait for Season 2.

When are we getting info on 2?

Also I also didn't realize it's been 5 year since the first came out. Time is moving too fast.

So I've had some time to think about the episode. I'm not especially fond of the games depiction of Chris and his dad's relationship.

I don't really feel like the physical abuse angle works for this It would have been better just focusing on them coping with the loss of the mother. As is, it was really shallow. You could take it out and nothing would really change if the dad was just a negligent drunk.

What was the fucking phone PIN. I was so frustrated that I just chose to wake up the dad and end the damn game. So many numbers everywhere and I tried every obvious combo I could think of. Christ.

Also never found the full costume, either. This game really stumped me.

It's

it's reallt shitty. Spent a while looking for a clue and like you just ended the game.

Anyways, after playing this, I'm not sure I'm gonna want to play five episodes of
drunk dad making child cry simulator
I hope there's a time slip or something, cus I just don't really need that. Not that I am like seeing something in it that is digging something up deep within me... I just don't need that sort of bummer.

That said, it accomplishes what it sets out to do. I was walking on eggshells throughought the game. Saw options I could do and just thought "fuck no, I'm just going to get yelled at"

The PIN is 42983294 which would be "hawtdog" if there were letters on the keyboard. It's stupid but you didn't miss anything other than a hawt dog man themed platform mini-game.
The costume... well that's really not the game's fault :3

They pretty much confirmed (in an E3 stream) that Chris will not be the protagonist of LiS 2. The themes though? Probably in some form.

Yeah, one thing I don't like was how obtuse it felt in some aspects. I think they counted on the community coming together to figure out the phone pin.

Are you joking with me. I would have never figured that out.

I was sure it was going to be about the wife. And I was under the assumption that it was a 4-number pin. I was screwed from the start.
