Turnout in general in 2018 is going to be through the roof in comparison to past midterms.

Doesn't matter what the data says. Expect lazy "worthless Dems never turnout for midterms, meanwhile strong big daddy Republicans are going to be motivated by their god king Trump. We're fucked" takes all the way until Election Day.

The GOP lost the house because the Dems loved me more than they did! Don't make the same mistake in 2020! Love the president!

So the judges ruling mandates:

1. Children under 5 need to be reunited within 14 days
2. Children over 5 within 30 days, and must speak with their parents on the phone within 10 days if they have not already.

Per Don Lemon.

I mean Republicans are definitely going to turn out. No doubt about that. Old white people turn the hell out, and the GOP is strong with old white people in most states*

* not all... dems win a ton of old white voters in the midwest and places like new hampshire, maine, etc... a lot more old white people vote dem than this website thinks

I look forward to a SCOTUS case next term that'll declare that separated families in the country illegally have no right to due process. Sigh.

Turnout for special elections and primaries usually overwhelming favor the GOPs demo, more so than even midterms. You've seen what's already been happening.

No chance in hell that would happen lol. Centrist dems hate leftists more than conservatives.

Where is the lie? seems like a accurate statement.

Ya'll ever hear a hot take so bad you just gotta go to sleep? We aren't republicans, this is some bullshit victimhood garbage, like thinking your parents hate you because they won't let you go to a rave at 13.

You stole that, lol.

Then again, it's kinda assumed. But actually, I am going to bed.

Republican primary was non-stop "who's the bigger trump sycophant". Watching the 180 for the general is going to be hilarious.

I quickly glanced at the GOP ticket, and I was like, lol nope. I'm going to love the 180 as well, especially as Colorado voted for Clinton in 2016.

Though if Clinton won the presidency, I would have chosen someone more centrist. But 2018 is now a blue wave year, so progressive it is!

I want to know what the party breakdown is. This year and 2014s.
Let me do some quick math and give you this year's:
~830,000 votes for governor (I assume some people only voted on the pot question, skipped the governor's race)
~388,000 Dem votes, 441,000 Rep. votes, 3500 Lib. votes

46.7% Democratic
53.1% Republican
0.2% Libertarian

Give or take a few tenths for when the final results have been tallied.

People in here really down on a Dem-Soc winning?

I know a lot of Era really hates Bernie, but the DSA isn't Bernie Sanders.

I could not be happier that a twenty year incumbent, who could not even be bothered to debate his opponent, lost his seat.

Imagine Pelosi taking her under her wing. Imagine a latina speaker in ten years :)

Given that Pelosi is NOT happy tonight about Crowley losing, this fantasy will probably stay unrealized:

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement on the NY-14 primary result:

"Chairman Joe Crowley has been an unwavering champion for America's working families for almost two decades. To know Congressman Crowley is to know his fierce pride in representing Queens and the Bronx, and the joy and effectiveness he brought to serve as their voice in the Congress.

"As Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, Joe Crowley brought principled, unifying and forward-looking leadership to the historic challenges of the Trump Administration. Our Caucus has been strengthened by his chairmanship, and by Chairman Crowley's relentless determination to defend the inclusive America symbolized by the Statue of Liberty.

"I salute Chairman Crowley for a formidable legacy of achievement for the people of New York. I congratulate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on her victory."

Y'all text on the regular?

I mean, of course she's probably not overjoyed about a Democratic veteran and member of leadership losing, but that doesn't mean she won't be welcoming to or cooperative with AOC. Come on.

This doesn't seem good to me. Seems repub turnout is also very high?

I guess I have to accept that Americans are never going to learn the difference between social democracy and democratic socialism, or realize that all of these "Socialist" candidates, as well as the majority of the Democratic Party, belong to the former category.

Thanks, Bernard.

Seems like a good night, all told. Doesn't quite make up for the GARBAGE FIRE news from this morning, but nice.

I am definitely dreading The Takes on Crowley losing. I'd never even heard of the man before today, but now he was the Chosen Heir Apparent to Once and Future Queen Nancy Pelosi, and clearly his defeat had nothing to do with the fact that he was wildly out of touch and failed to even show up to the debates or, hell, the actual good fit between Ocasio-Cortez and her district or the campaign she ran, and entirely about the massive dissatisfaction with current Democratic leadership and the obvious massive identity crisis tearing apart the Party of Disarray.

Pls, kill me.

But yeah, good to see DSA making some gains. I'm a smidge to the right of them, for the most part, but it's good to have a strong left wing in the party. So long as it doesn't go full tea party, natch.

Of course, it kind of can't. Big part of why the Tea Party took over the Republicans the way it did was because it wasn't really a grassroots movement after the very early period, just a front for their donor base. DSA wouldn't have the same kind of levers to dictate terms to the Dems.
