I was actually looking forward to the regional sports channels picking up ESPN's branding.

That's mostly because most cyberpunk was written in the 80's, when manufacturing giants (and the Japanese) still seemed fit to dominate the world.

Modern transhumanist stuff (or cyberpunk that's actually tried to remain "current", like Shadowrun) actually does tend to have terrifying media and telecomm giants.
These mega-corporations are still a thing in Asia. Look at the South Korean electronics giants, with their hands deep into military equipment, along with shipping, chemicals, heavy industry, and everything else.

Finally!!!!!No more shitty x men movies! Can we get them to cancel New Mutants and Dark Phoenix 2, Sansa Boogaloo?

After the shit SW fans have been pulling lately I'm all aboard this train as well.

I love the new Star Wars but the fandom is a toxic pile of trash, comic books aren't a lot better, but the movies marvel puts out are quality as fuck and feel, sound, and look like the comics.

Like, fwiw I was skeptical through the entire ride since Iron Man, but they kept raising the stakes as well as quality, and the only one I don't like is Age of Ultron. I can't wait for Kamala.

Great news.

Also, Logan is better than most of the MCU films, and arguably all of them. I am not sure how that is a crazy opinion but oh well.

Comcast being the only cable provider not on so many streaming services (Showtime, Viacom) really drives home how terrible they would've been for Hulu. this is the best outcome.

Seriously, 1 year ago I was a decent Star Wars fan and I'd never seen an MCU movie. But my partner sat me down and we watched them all, converted me big time (cap and bucky!<3) I mean I really liked TLJ, but I'm sick of the SW fandom overall being a bunch of whiny man babies. And also agree, SW comics have been really hit and miss. The main series and Vader have been pretty good mostly (esp. Vader), but everything else? Meh

The MCU fandom is also WAY nicer. Had such a great time on OW at infinity war.

Yeah, Sasmung and LG are something else. They're way closer to actual cyberpunk mega-monopolies in Korea than this deal will get Disney anywhere close to being.

This is fantastic news as far as the merger goes. I'm just glad Comcast didn't get them.

I wonder if Disney and Comcast will make any trades in the future. Disney has Fox's distribution rights of some Dreamworks films, and Comcast still has distribution of Hulk and possibly Namor.

Now watch as a new post-credits scene gets added to Deadpool 2's bluray

*Deadpool walks into frame*

DP: Okay, movie's over. Take the bluray out and put in that other movie where you can watch Thanos hit Iron Man with--

*Pauses for a second*

DP: Wait a minute... I just said Iron Man and didn't get in trouble for it? Whoa... Um.. THOR PETER PARKER HULK DOCTOR STRANGE!

tumblr_oj2ft7HZqj1tep9w5o1_500.gif

DP: Oh my God the Disney deal finally went through! I can finally tell you that the end of the first movie officially took place on a Shield Hellicarrier!

*Deadpool starts walking out of frame*

DP: Oh my god I gotta tell Hugh!

Lmfao Wade is gonna be the one coackroach to survive what's about to befall those versions of the characters.

So does Comcast make a play for the RSN's? Would Aljazera come in and try to expand the BeIn brand? Who else could make a bid for them?

*Disney divests*

Can the DOJ appeal Comcast offer?
It's likely because like I've explained, it's a mistake to assume that Judge Leon's ruling on the AT&T/TW case made Comcast's life easier in a potential M&A with 21st Century Fox or ANY OTHER big studio, might I add. That didn't mean that Comcast had a clear shot at a vertical and horizontal merger at all. Comcast's case in their offer for 21CF is unlike Disney/21CF or AT&T/TW, and it's in fact, it's more likely to face regulation than either. Basically, this:

But you also have to factor the fact that the AT&T/TW ruling might actually in fact face appeal:

Seeing people cheering mega corps getting even bigger just because it works out well for their super hero movies is so incredibly sad.

It's either Disney or Comcast, there is literally no other possibility. So might as well make the best of it and root for the lesser of two evils, especially when they make better movies anyway.

Isn't Disney getting the deal but having to sell the RSNs a HUGE deal for them? I was under the impression the RSNs were a major part of the deal for Disney so if there'll willing to sell those to finish the deal it seems they value their other holdings and assets a lot more.

Disney has been planning an OTT offering, but lack in content relative to competitors like Hulu and Netflix. This deal is more about them acquiring evergreen content and content going forward so they can pad this out more.

While the deals for the RSN's could have helped, keep in mind what RSN's are paying for rights. "The Dodgers own SportsNet LA. In exchange for a guaranteed $8.35 billion over 25 years". For a company that is already dealing with a struggling brand (ESPN) they probably ran risk and felt handling costs over 22 networks wasn't worth it relative to the catalog of content.

Disney should do the right thing and put a quick double-tap into the back of the Alien franchise's head.

I thought so too. The RSN's are worth so much that that was something they would be after. But having to sell them probably eins back a Nice amount as well...

Lmfao Wade is gonna be the one coackroach to survive what's about to befall those versions of the characters.

Easily. As much as people in the box office thread (not all to be fair) were talking about how bad dp2 did....it still made SEVEN TIMES it's budget and has had surprisingly good legs. Actually both Deadpool's have had good legs. I'm sure Disney sees that and believes that with the proper slot (which they can give it) and the proper crossovers, it could either
A) reach a billion

Or

B) continue to be a high ROI film. Which bean counters love
