Played some more.

I love the game.

But I´d also give it a 7/10 at best.

Just driving around works for me.

I´m here for the ride - can´t wait to see how they fill out the game over the next year or so.

If there is one thing thats interesting here is of course their after game support which for their titles has been great. Though for many that starting point isn't up to par.

I get that. I jumped into the Crew 1 after the major overhaul, but from what I understand it already had more "content" before that.

The Crew 2 is the barest of bones and it does not even have so-awful-that-it´s-amazing-again story.

Ya its an odd title. To me very interesting just from a development standpoint and why some decisions were made especially AFTER the Crew 1's lessons. But I know some folks are digging it and over time there is something there I think.

Publisher pressure to get the thing out the door, it had already been delayed, and it's clearly still not finished.

Watched Karak's review and it confirmed my fears from the beta. Wide as an ocean, shallow as a kiddie pool. The whole affair appears to be a shell of a potentially good game.

Its a shame that they didnt learn anything of value from the previous game.

Well we can hope we do get those patches to shore up the parts folks are missing

Loving the game doesn't equate to a 7/10. Also, you can't wait to see how they fill it out over the year? I'm sorry but this comes off as you trying to justify you paying money for a bland game

Not in the slightest.

But you come off as someone who is so pissed at someone else for liking a thing he does not that he really wants to ruin it for everybody.

The premise of your post is complete bullshit btw.

People love/like things for different reasons.

Me loving listening to the radio and taking road trips from cost to cost does not mean that I can't see the glaring flaws

It's a seven out of ten AT BEST.

And I love it.

Here's my review, it's pretty fun but has a lot of issues. https://www.gamezone.com/reviews/review-crew-2-fun-varied-racer-doesnt-quite-meet-potential/
Added the following reviews to the OP.

Could you add mine? <3
I'm interested in what time the regular game unlocks in the US?

I'm in Brazil and I'm going to use the 20% voucher that I got but it only works on released games.
11 PM ET.

So, uh, was Amazon supposed to send a code with pre-order copies, or what? Haven't pre-ordered with them in ages, and only really did it because of that Gold Edition price error.

Anyway, I guess the game is OK? The story stuff is awful, and the gulf in quality between some of the cities (gorgeous) and some of the towns in the boonies (real PS2 tier feel to 'em) is kinda staggering. Can't really shake the feeling that there was way more detail in the original game, though.

But actually racing around the cities is mostly inoffensive and kinda fun. Boats wound up being more enjoyable than I thought they'd be (so far anyway). Planes, well, can't win 'em all.

Cant help but feel the game would be much better if it did was Forza was doing. Much smaller, tighter world would be a lot more fun than a gigantic map of USA.

Been playing it a lot. Still love just cruising. Surprised people don't like the planes, it's the fastest way to get around for me and I get way more followers. Really enjoy flying to a huge mountain, dropping into motorcross and jumping max speed all the way down.

Really hoping they add cross country races if they aren't already in the game.

Huh. Can't use a VPN to unlock early on Uplay anymore it seems. Just get a generic "Account suspended error" if the territory is different. If I turn the VPN off I can log back in just fine. I swear I've been able to use one in the past year the evening before.

I think The Crew 2 has so much content but most of it is hidden in the beginning. You have to level up and buy new vehicle types to unlock new events and activities.

Many people would think the game has little content at the beginning. I wish the game had a better introduction/tutorial. I bought new different types of cars like Drag, Drift, and Monster Truck and now the map is full of stuff to do. I've been playing for 3 days now. Today alone, I unlocked more than 60 events on the map by leveling up and buying new cars.

While at the "HQ" you see different types of cars/planes/boats/motorcycles lined up, you have to buy at least 1 of each to unlock their respective type of events. Also leveling up to "popular", "Famous"...etc. unlocks new events and new types of events. It's confusing at first.

This is good info, I think a lot of people (especially here) will flip their shit because icons dont pop up everywhere immediately.

Is loot at fixed locations? Yesterday I did a 100km or so ride just for the sake of it (the prior days I mainly bounced between events) and found multiple (green and blue) items, some harder to find than others. Do they respawn, are they generated randomly, or what's up since they can't be seen on the map?

Is the steam version still fucked?

Games been swamped with negative reviews because it requires a cdkey that ubi haven't provided.

nope...has nothing to do with "icons that don´t pop up everywhere"

it is:

17 Street

8 Drift

6 Drag

5 Hypercar

10 Rally Raid

8 Motocross

6 Rally Cross

10 Acrobatics

8 Jetsprint

6 Monster Truck

10 Powerboat

8 Touring Car

8 Air Race

5 Alpha GP

total: 115
car only: 65(!)
motorcross/monstertruck: 14
boats: 18
planes: 18

these events can be completed in around 18h playtime.

Doesn't seem too bad to me. There will probably be more events added. There's free roam. There's a lot of non-racing activities. Should keep me busy until Forza Horizon 4, after which I'll probably only come back for major DLC drops or something.

Its a 7/10 all day long.

Which isn't a bad score, and the sky isn't falling in despite what Dphex wants everyone to believe.

I'm pretty bummed there apparently aren't any landmarks to find. Does the game have any collectables? I'd like there to be some incentive to explore the map and not fast travel everywhere.

I'm probably in the minority but I don't mind the amount of content that's there knowing more will be added. I do miss the old style of activites scattered around the map. I know they are still there but are so limited compared to Crew 1 it's a bit of a dissapointment.

Same. There's over a hundred races, 40 photo ops, dozens of challenges, cars to collect, a giant world to explore, friend records and leaderboards and all... I think the game has a good amount of content for a full-priced game, there's been Need For Speed games (for one) with far less content than this at full price in the past, and many of them weren't this good. I'd like more variety in the open world activities, that's for sure.

It is bizzare. I liked Crew 1 a lot (only played after WR update). But it had those problems - shitty colision model, poor driving physics even for an arcade, nonworking mirrors..

Most people, from what I saw online on reddit and what not, wanted these things fixed + new cool map (like Japan or Europe) for the second game.

Instead they do not fix anything, make most stuff worse, rehash the map, and add boats and planes, both of which are boring.

And of course for me as someone who played Wild Run for 150 hours and explored the whole map, playing Crew 2 is meaningless. I played the beta, drive through some cities and locations, saw that yes, it is the same map for the most part, and uninstalled it. At best this game is like another expansion to the first game, not a sequel.

The readability is a huge problem right now.

When I lose a race 99% of the time it´s because I took a wrong turn because the yellow arrows are too small.

That leads to me constantly having an eye on the minimap - which leads to more crashing.

This game needs a racing line bad.

Don´t care if it´s Forza or Crew 1 style, but it needs to be there.

new cool map (like Japan....)

Era wants something to be set in Japan - surprise ;)

NY alone has more iconic and worldwide known landmarks than the entirety of Japan.

The USA are the right location. I fully expect the Crew 3 to be in the USA again.

To each their own. I hated The Crew's driving model but I enjoy the one here, and I'm also loving the boats. Same goes with the planes, though I'm not a fan of the actual events, just flying around doing all kinds of fun tricks feels really satisftying.

I'd love a concept like Forza Horizon 2, but extended to most of Europe. Imagine driving from, say, Budapest to Madrid with an hour long drive that shows you multiple iconic kinds of scenery from European countries. Very much like The Crew 1 and 2, there could be giant-sized recreations of famous cities with specific scenery inbetween those.

The boats physics have (seemingly?) changed since the betas, the boats are way more affected by other boats wake now.
