Ok, someone spoil me. How do you access these three areas so far that seem to require a higher jump?

Cheat engine, they are unfinished :) there is no leggit way to access them.
In the boat:
rotn_boat22s93.jpg

it's the same for most doors you cannot open, they lead to unfinished rooms with no enemies or the dreaded teleport room (the green ones on the map, which put the game on infinite loop if you activate the stainglass)

Anyway, this demo is at last a proper engine, and navigating the map will properly move you. the older demo created limited sections of rooms in 3D and if you tried to move yourself in a virtual map the engine would make you fall in the void.
There is much much much progress, and that's good for modding/cheating

This should be the key for the new demo. It was for me, at least.

that's most likely the key for the new demo... at least for me it generated a key for the new demo.
I don't have a key for the old demo on the fangamer survey page.

Guys, if it says E3 Beta Backer Demo this is it. The E3 demo from 2016 was not a beta demo. They should've put the year (2018) next to E3 to avoid confusion but that's the one!

Awesome. My thanks to each of you for clearing away my confusion!

Ahh, ok, Thought it was some secret move from a specific weapon or something. Only weapon I found that had an additional move was the dull blade so far. → ↘ ↓ ↙ ← A

So, I assume some of the environments are unfinished, right? The visuals are rough in a few places. Inconsistent.

Heyyy thanks for that ! i didn't know :) I tried the usual suspects with the knife but didn't with the dull blade.
It won't be a secret move by the way, it will be the double jump Miriam is supposed to learn later in the game (shouldn't be through a shard i think).

Yeag, the village is very very rough, not as all at the same level of polish as the boat in the game... this should come at a later time , they put it in there to show us the game is continuous :)
However i doubt we'll lose the odd "1998's prerendered graphics" vibe... it sure is nostalgic remembering Kingdom O Magic (the only game i know where you had to kill the princess to rescue the dragon), but ... errr... materials take time to adapt to xD

I am however sooooooo glad i didn't see the 3 legged wheel lions... gosh i hated these.

QCF with the shoes does a one-two-three combo, but you have to input the motion for each attack. You can do it in air -- I used it to access the Critical Ring in the ship (the second outside area with the downed mast you can walk on, it's up and to the right).

Another dumb question for you guys.

I know it's early days still, but when you equip different clothes on your character(s) will their model change to reflect that ?

Also i still would love a little help with my Fangamer account situation. Please.
There's motion inputs like Capcom D&D games?
It was the same way with SOTN, too.

Just played the new demo. well it is rough still. The music is great, but something is definitely missing, Miriam plays fluently, the yelling is annoying though.

Not with the main outfits, just hats and accessories.

Hey is part of 'vanias panicking to find a save room? This is my first one.

Little bit, yeah. LOL.
This is pretty much my first proper 2D side scroller, well I did played curse of the moon too which I loved but other than that I didn't play the old castlevania games.

Just lords of shadow.
Ahhhh. Cool cool.

If you can, you should give SOTN a go. It's some good stuff, and you won't be disappoint.

I'm starting a Fix the Whip campaign. Tweet @SwordorWhip and use the hashtag #FixTheWhip.

Just kidding, but really, fix the whip.

I havent played the demo. Whats wrong with the whip? Just because the animation isnt done like a Belmont?

It's a whip that attacks at an angle. For this reason, it's probably the most technical weapon to use.

I don't mind it too much, but for people expecting the usual Belmont whip strike are going to find the weapon much harder to use, even if the same appeal of the whip -- the wind up and where it strikes -- is still the appeal of the weapon in Bloodstained, even if it works differently.

I just think whips look cool, so I don't mind the functionality being different.

Maybe there will be two types of whips, with their own movesets!

Played through the boat section and I'm loving it. Plays great, the music is fantastic so far and I'm perfectly fine with the graphics.

Only nitpick so far would be having no way to quickly change ammo types for the Musket.

Similarly I want a way to quickly changed weapons, since they have different situational advantages I would like to be able to cycle a small set without having to go through the equipment menu every time.

That would be nice too, even if it was only switching between two equipped weapons.

The whipping animation is all wrong. Why is all angled like that? It's like they're trying to make it not like Castlevania on purpose.

I like using the Thorn Whip (which has the same attack pattern). It's very helpful for enemies that're low to the ground. Plus, if you jump while using it, then you don't need to worry about mobility issues while attacking, and the downward angle of attack makes it much more useful for this approach to attacking.

So I've never played much Castlevania before, but I'm really enjoying this demo. Is Symphony of the Night just like it? If so, I think I might give it a try this weekend.

Symphony of the Night lacks a lot of the additions and refinements that later installments in the series brought. It's still my favorite game in the series (and my favorite game ever in general), but it definitely has some odd quirks to it that make it less intuitive than newer installments in the series. I still recommend giving it a shot, though. Once you know what you're doing, it only takes maybe six hours to play through if you want full map completion. Just so you're aware, if you think you've finished the game and don't know the twist, then you're actually only halfway through.

Sounds good overall then. If not this weekend, then I'll definitely play it soon; this is really scratching my Metroid itch and has a really cool aesthetic, so if SotN is even somewhat similar, I think I'll enjoy it. Definitely buying this at launch now as well.

They can do that with any other weapon. Put in some nunchucks or something. Just leave the whip alone. #FixTheWhip

First thing I did was mute the voices to curb the attack yelling. There should really be an option to do that without silencing the cutscenes.

Also the cry of getting a new monster attack needs to be put under that voice slider. It is much too late here to be putting up with folk screaming in my ear every 8 minutes.

If you've got a DS or 3DS, check out Order of Ecclesia. It's the Castlevania Iga made before this, and it's very similar / awesome. SotN is also phenomenal.

Basically, you've got a lot of insanely good stuff to get through if you enjoyed it :D

Speaking of which, I've messed around with just about everything there is to do in the demo now. No one else makes a Metroidvania quite like this, and I've really missed the formula.

Unfortunately, it looks like the closest GameStop with a copy of Ecclesia is about half an hour out of town, so I may have to hold off on that for now. :( I think I'm gonna get SotN on my Xbox though, since it's cheap and readily available.

Great idea. SOTN is one of the greatest games ever made and its at the top of the pyramid of Vania games. There's a reason Bloodstained is referred to as the spiritual successor to SOTN rather than the gameboy games. Don't get me wrong, those are good too but SOTN is legendary.

I haven't played it yet, just watching my SO play it for now.

...Why did they take American voice actors for what is obviously an English setting? And these VAs aren't even trying to sound English. >_<

I agree with this

Also Meant to say earlier, Anne's VA can do a lot better than that. Her Voice Direction and Dialogue is terrible.

Besides that, game is a lot of fun.

Every Igavania to date has been American voice actors last I believe. Nor have they ever sounded/tried to sound english.
They weren't explicitly English characters, though. And those VAs are sorta trying to sound British at times, you can tell on some words, but for the most part they're obviously not really trying, so it's just kind of jarring. I don't like it. :P
