Dude is about to get paid by Dallas.

They are the only team willing to pay him, and likely the only one to do it for more than a couple years. Honestly I figured Dallas wouldn't overpay him even if they were the best option and he would opt in and try again next year. It definitely looks like he's going to Dallas. I'm just curious what the contract is...

I don't think the Clippers have any interest in bringing him back.

Oh I was at the movies. I assumed DeAndre would opt in to his contract, because I don't think there's a market. Other than Dallas. So, I'd say he's almost definitely going to get relatively overpaid by Dallas. Which I mean, good for him.

Zach Lowe mentioned that this might be a good year to sign decent/good players to team friendly short term deals, similar to Tyreke Evans or Lou Williams have in recent years.

I mean, you can believe that, but if you are operating under the idea that Kawhi just wants out, of course that's going to color the way you view everything else around it. If Kawhi simply wanted out, I think he would just ask out, and not fake an injury and miss an entire season. People keep saying "His uncle just wants to get him to a bigger market for a shoe deal", how does missing an entire season help make you more marketable? Ultimately we aren't getting the full story, and the Spurs seem to have a teflon reputation with media mouthpieces, which also helps paint the narrative in a more favorable light to them.

I don't think he's faking his injury, especially since he's had this quad problem for a while now, but I also do think that they're using these setbacks and the loss of trust examples like Parker's comments as justification to force a trade to LA.

Kawhi wanting to got to LA, Kawhi being injured and misdiagnosed (despite the injury being a mystery) and Kawhi using Parker's/Pop's actually not terribly offensive comments as the straw that broke the camels back can all be simultaneously true.

Edit: As for the marketability aspect, winning cures all sins. People spent the whole offseason calling KD a snake for going to the Warriors but his jersey is 4th in sales. I don't think Laker fans are going to give a shit that he didn't play a season if he plays well for them.

Honestly the Decision sounds awesome. Must've been one hell of an exciting summer, I wish I paid more attention back then. I bet that summer made Twitter

Sources: Tophat Jones is beside himself. Driving around downtown Salt Lake City begging (thru texts) James' family for address to LeBron's home.

Kawhi shopped around for a doctor that gave him the results he wanted

Idk what to make of it, and idk about the timeline of events, if this was pre or post Spurs flinging shit at him.
it's probably true, tho Simmons is changing the narrative a bit.

If he Kawhi was really in pain and felt that something was wrong with him, it's only fair that he would try to find a doctor that would agree with him.
