Leveling up is the worst. I pulled a level 59 abra (still mid game), and while not ideal, wanted to get working an at least a semi-decent alakazam. But holy hell I just fed it pokemon to level up, missions took too long

Also, the endgame seems to dictate only a few good pokemone, like Machamp, Alakzam, Starmie or other hard hitters. "Win with your favorites" is nonexistant here, especially because a gold pot Charmander is infinitely better than your starter Charmander

That said, it's still enjoyable, but unless there's more content coming to it, I'll just enjoy the free game for a while

Yup running into that situation now. Don't even get me started on the move learning crap.

Right now i'm deciding whether I want to get stick with my OG team [Charizard, Lapras, Golem] in favor of the Machamp/Alakazam/Onix meta.

lmao yeah holy shit. I thought it was a meta thing, but its actually just OP.

My Machamp/Alakazam/Lapras team is just obliterating everything.
All around lvl 30 w/ power level 9000+ taking on 13,500 with ease. wow.

I was struggling with my Charizard/Lapras/Golem at 10,000 taking on 10,000

Finally finished all the levels and
the end game content (12-x).
Had 65+ hours logged and went free-to-play all the way.

I had used Dragonite (Draco Meteor), Machamp (Bulk Up) and Lapras (Hydro Pump) for the majority of the time. Once I had a Blastoise with Hydro Pump, I swapped that out with Lapras. My Pokedex is only at 90 or so and I'm not sure if I want to try and get a full 150.

is a good site for recipe info. Works better than the categorical recipe thing

there are actually specific recipes you can do to get certain single pokemon (abra, onix, etc.)

Ah! Thanks! I need to get those ingredients. Can you train your Pokemon on here? I want to level them up before doing these missions.

the level sytem in this game is a bit of a mess.
You don't get much XP from expeditions.
If you use Training-Level-Up, the amount of XP you get depends on whether the sacrificed pokemon are the same color/category or if its a higher level exact version of that pokemon.

If you are just starting out, I would suggest saving rarer ingrediants and not trying to cook up rarer pokemon (specifically dratini) until you get the better pots silver/gold. Otherwise you are going to hit a level wall with that pokemon until you cook up another really high level version of a dratini.

Your pokemon will level up after the missions. Also you can sacrifice other pokemon to level up or change some moves for your existing pokemons.
Either way, you have to do the missions. You can play old missions you've already completed as many times as you want, to gain EXP and ingredients.

Whoa! I didn't know there was gonna be a wall! I do have the silver pot. So the color pot determes how good that pokemon is? When do I get the gold pot?

It only determines the level it will be. I think everything else is randomized (movesets, slot types, etc.)

Silver pot is where i'm at right now too actually, so i can't speak for gold - Silver pot they usually come out around lvl 60 which seems decent.

What i mean by level wall is...For example, if you get a lvl 1 dratini its going to take a shitton of sacrificial pokemon to get it to a serviceable/useable level since Expeditions are basically useless when leveling up. VS. investing a handful more ingredients to get a LVL 60 dratini. Even worse since Dratini is a dragon-type, the fastest way to level up i've seen so far is to sacrifice a pokemon of the same type....since there are practically no other dragon types you will have to aim for a higher level dratini anyways lol

Ah I see, But the earlier I have it it wouldn't change if the level between Dratini isn't far distance from my main Pokemon right?

If you have a low level 'mon and sacrifice a higher level 'mon to level up the first one you will get a nice jump in levels in the first one. If you sacrifice a lower level 'mon to a higher level 'mon you will get such a minimal increase that it's not generally worth the effort. If you have a really low level 'mon say level 1-5 then re-playing areas you have already played will boost you up quite quickly until you get to the late teens in level. So, very similar to the traditional Pokemon games really.

Not quite.

There are four kinds of recipes for each meal and that determines it. It's not specific recipes for a specific Pokémon but it's specific strength of dish attracts a Pokémon

Ahh gotcha. The https://pokequestrecipes.me/ site was updated. Earlier it had recipes listed showing a specific pokemon, but now there are percentages and added pokemon listed now. I've been using a recipe for Onix that has a 97% chance

Any tips for end game? I have no idea how I'm going to get past even 18k right now with out grinding foreverrrrrrr. I'm pretty close to having all 3 pokemon be lvl 100./

Next paycheck I'm buying a 50 euro google play card and getting that expidition pack. I'm loving this game, but I hate to grind.

Still stuck on final bosses for 9 and 10, but I finally cooked a nice silver pot Machop, single move. Then cooked a low pot and got 3 machop, finally with bulk up. I know he won't be end game, but hopeully this'll be enough to get me over the level spike and into new works. Raichu with volt tackle/thunderbolt has been key to getting me past those damn Dodrio trio

I'm stuck there too and have been for awhile. However I got sick of grinding to get strong enough to get through so I have been levelling up to evolve my 'mons instead. I have never actually managed to 'catch them all' in a Pokemon game so hope this shall be a first for me. For a free game I have got an awful lot of fun out of it.

I've found type bonus matter more than I thought. My team of Golbat (leech life), Onix (harden) and Tentocruel (hydropump) got stonewalled. I needed to get an alakazam and hypno to even get past some psychic stages, and electabuzz and raichu for the electric ones. Now I'm just leveling until they're strong enough (though this machamp should help)

Kinda offputting, but I'm resisting farming for the "best" until I get the gold pot

EDIT: if you're still have issues. Get a machamp with bulk up. Putting him and two boosted units just swept both bosses I was stuck on. And he's only level 37! For reference, Alakazam and raichu were in the high 60s and never dropped below half health

MiTYH Thanks. I have found the type bonus to be crucial too unless one is overpowered and can just brute force it. Even with all psychic and electric teams with decent moves I am still needing to level up to get past the respective bosses of those two areas. I haven't bothered trying for a Machamp with Bulk Up yet as it seems to be such pot luck with move learning and what moves a visitor might have. It's okay though as I am enjoying levelling them up to get their evolutions. I have almost levelled up to a Machamp on one account [I started a second one just to keep playing as I was enjoying the game so much]. He doesn't have Bulk Up but that's okay as that will be one more of the 150 ticked off in my Pokedex. I would try to learn Bulk Up with him but the move learning is so capricious I am discouraged to even bother trying.

Goddamn farming for the attacks is annoying. Finally got a good gold pot abra, tried for his attack and... 5 times in a row, no psychic. Even worse, he's stuck now on teleport and I can't auto some stages because of that.

It's the worst part of the game, for me. The 'move learning' aspect is so capricious I pretty much don't bother with it. Comfort yourself with being further along than me though; I am still stuck trying to overcome the bosses of the 'electric' and 'psychic' areas and so haven't unlocked the gold pot yet. I am making progress but it is slooooow going. I know I could speed it up by buying some IAPs but I'm not going to do that now after all the grinding I have already done. Yes, I understand the sunk cost falacy but there you are. In a funny sort of way I quite like having to really work for something. Perhaps I am a masochist?! I'm still enjoying the game so I suppose I must be!

That's generous considering how seemingly minor the bug was. I'll be able to get the two remaining ingredient buffs now. Nice!

So what's the deal with the moves in this game? I thought I could wreck stuff after evolving this Magikarp. But with Gyarados still knowing Flail and Splash, what's the point? Is the only way to learn moves by spending valuable Pokemon which I am in no position to be using like money? And do the pots just keep increasing in time cost? Used to be 3 expeditions in the tutorial, and now it's asking for like 6. It's a privilege to earn a Pokemon, so I'm not going to be wasting them like this. Or am I doing something wrong?

So.. are there any updates planned for this game? Enjoyed the game a lot but I kinda regret getting the expansion now that there isn't anything new so far.

Update from about a week ago added a stage (and broke some mechanics.... my alakzam will just stop/spin 1/5 times). I imagine they will add more in time, but haven't announced anything official yet. It just came to mobile < 1 month ago

Am I playing the game wrong, or what? I've been stuck on this level 7-5 for like a week. The difficulty just climbs too fast and it requires grinding. It's a 10,800 level and I'm at 6,400.

Nope, that's the game. It's free so you can grind or pay to make things easier. Type differences can really help just like in a normal Pokemon game so electric is very good against water, for example. Cooking for a higher level pokemon and using them to level up a pokemon you are trying to get stronger helps. I've found that I get the best results if I use the same pokemon to level up e.g. burn an Abra to level up a Kadabra. Essentially though it is grind or pay. Have fun!

I mean...Paying does NOT give you some magical advantage. You can't "buy" more powerful Pokemon.

Anyone still play this piece of shit? I have somehow clocked 55 hours. Still stuck on 9-Boss and 10-5.
Oh, good. Nice to know I'm not the only one then.
I'm really starting to hate this game now. Every second I waste on it is agony. That's the part of the game when it really starts to get unfun. I haven't made progress in weeks. Everything just scales up too fast and is just too hard to beat. After around the mid-30s, you can forget about getting another stone slot. That's your power level for a looong time. And the level recommendations just go up hundreds at a time as if you could even keep up with it at all. You're basically required to grind up to level 60 to even stand a chance. Or take your chance with random Pokemon that may be higher level, but have crap moves.
What a tremendous waste of time. I've tried so many different combinations. I just can't get past 9-Boss and 10-Boss. The RNG is bad. The status effects are bad. The difficulty is bad. The grind is bad.

But at least I got a shiny Farfetch'd. That prevented me from deleting the game that day.

Sorry for the bump, but I didn't think it worth making a new thread. Reading the last two posts, how impossible is it to beat the game F2P? I'm currently stuck at the same areas and while I imagine it's just a matter now of cooking to get Abras and Machops to level up, I'd prefer to know if I'm just wasting my time or if this will work.

It's not impossible, just ridiculously grindy
