All I know about Joe Rogen is that he'll give anyone a platform. That photo is pretty damning, though. Although I'll always thank him for that beautiful video that really exposes how much a lunatic Alex Jones is; that's probably the only good part of his podcast, that he doesn't challenge guests and make them defensive, but rather lets them just speak their mind and show their true colors.

I thought he was more like a Boogie, Bill Maher type where he has a really low quality both sides position and shits on Trump but mingles and hangs out with alt right crazy people

No everyone who is wrong is alt right.

If milo is the alt right, I'm not sure Rogan is the same.

Tho I'm not sure I can make a formal distinction

Id put rogan to the left of shitheads like crowder and dishonest pseudo intellectuals like shapiro.

I barely listen to Rogan anymore. I used to listen to every episode but around the 2016 election he seemed to change. It's obvious he gets his news from right wing propaganda and it shows. The other day he said "the left is mean." In reference to Sarah Sanders being refused service at a restaurant.

It's frustrating listening to him talk anything politics, even more so when he has right wingers on.

Jesus, imagine comparing Joe Fucking Rogan to George Carlin and Bill Hicks. Imagine living that life.
George Carlin and Bill Hicks were huge influences on Rogan, probably the biggest apart for maybe Kinnison, so I get making some kind of comparison there, but to label Carlin or Hicks as any kind of right when they just savaged conservatives for their entire careers is pretty insane.

I don't know how you throw Bill Burr in there either, who is politically center-left, married to a black woman, with a mixed-race kid and imply he's a fucking white nationalist. What planet are we living on?

California for now
I always imagined Joe Rogan to be the natural evolution of what his character, Joe Gurelli, was on Newsradio: a strange bro with a conspiracy angle.

This stuff isn't that shocking..

Yeah, and that's all awful. But if you don't bring up JQ, you're not alt-right. We don't need to mislabel people to convince people that they're terrible people. Their own words and actions do that.

Looking up alt-right and JQ turns up "Jewish question," is that right? Because if that's the case your standard for who qualifies as alt-right is ridiculous. GamerGate was an alt-right movement and many of its figureheads like Milo and Adam Baldwin are alt-right, and as far as I know they didn't talk much about Jews.

He's not alt-right. He just happens to be extremely popular with the alt-right. And just happens to heavily associate with them.

Yeah, I knew this would become a thread here when I saw that photo.

I only listen to his podcasts where he has friends like Joey Diaz or Tom Segura or Bert Kreisher on. Those are hilarious.

His politics can get fucked. But I do tend to agree with his idea that this country would be better off without one central figurehead, and instead more of an oligarchic structure.

Joe keeps some strange company, but I don't even know if he even meets the current definition of a Republican, let alone "alt right." I'm only a casual listener, but from what I've gathered he believes in climate change, is pro LGBTQ (but likes to make "jokes" about Caitlyn Jenner) he loves science, is pro marijuana and doesn't buy into the conspiracy theories from the right like pizzagate, Obama being a Kenyan, global warming conspiracies etc (but is friends with Alex Jones?)

I know in today's climate, folks like to throw labels on people and draw lines in the sand. Joe might be one of those people where this doesn't quite work. Call him what you want to though. It doesn't really matter. From what I've heard of Joe, I don't think he's some sort of white supremacist.

This sums up a significant chunk of the under-40 Republican base. Many of them don't really give a shit about traditional culture war issues like climate change or gay marriage and have instead moved on to straight-up white supremacy, "cultural marxism," and closed borders.

The fact that leftists and right wingers alike get pissed off at Rogan make me even more a fan of his podcast. He's not playin for your team and conforming to your value system; he is just a guy talking and listening to people about topics he finds interesting.

The recent Ted Nugent episode was great btw. I think Ted Nugent is an idiot politically speaking and yet he proved to be one of the most interesting guests yet.

If you want a leftist podcast i would recommend Pod Save America. The hosts are former Obama admin staff. I dont find them to be much entertaining or insightful but they will say what you want to hear. Its basically resetera OT in podcast form.

Milo isn't Alt Right? For real? Dude was the poster boy for a long time.

He was the poster boy before it stopped being an all encompassing "not mainstream conservative" movement and veered into straight up ethnonationalism. All those provocateurs and "trendy" shithead conservatives like Gavin Mcinnes/rest of Rebel media fell under that category.

I love Joe Rogan podcast, and as daily listerner/viewer i can say for 100% no he is not an alt-right.
Not every conservative or republic is an Alt-right you know...
This. Y'all arent doing the "Alt-Right" term any justice by just throwing any old person you goddamn please into its mix. Y'all gotta stop this shit, seriously. You're actually HURTING efforts against the alt-right (which is a bullshit term anyway. Just fucking say NAZI FFS)

Y'all can be mad for him giving these fucks a platform. Blah blah, fine. But let's not pretend that Rogan suddenly believes what the "alt right" does. Every person in that photo is a dumbfuck "intellectual" (LMAO)

Let's see how intellectual they are: here's Dave Rubin's on Libertarianim and regulation

https://youtu.be/LQ62JMeRMmM

Let's pull back on the hyperbole and focus on the real issues, hmmm?

I like hearing what the other side has to say... when they're speaking to someone that has the knowledge to call them out on blatant lies/misinformation.
This. I see no problem in giving a platform. As long as you leave it open to burn them on it. You can't know your enemy until you heard them. Get educated y'all. You can't fight this shit until you know what it is

Reaching pretty far to call him alt-right when he believes in many things the left fight for.

I too enjoy his show. Mostly when he brings scientists and actors on the show.

The man believed we faked the moon landing until actual astrophysicists explained how the moon launches and landings worked to him.

He's literally what he castigates people for being, a sheep, willing to believe literally fucking anything conspiratorial because he did a bunch of DMT and thinks he's enlightened because he had visions.

The term Alt Right was always straight up ethnonationalism

Ungh, this is the last nail for me. So gutted right now, I'm an MMA fan so I listen to his podcast for stuff on that and while I have listened to some of the alt-right guests he's had, I've been skipping most of them, but now I don't even want to listen to his MMA guests knowing that he's hanging out with these white supremacists now.

If you are supposedly a fan of Rogan, I'm absolutely baffled by what could possibly be in this photo that is shocking news to you. He's had every single one of those people on his show and it's common knowledge they are all socially friendly as well. What's the big revelation here?

Also, Rogan isn't alt-right, his political views are almost completely liberal with a few exceptions. Of the people pictured, Weinstein is also quite liberal and argues with the others on a lot of topics. I wouldn't describe any of the others as alt right. Not every racist or bigot is alt right or a nazi. It isn't defending hatred to point out that words do have actual meanings.

There is a reason why Rogan and everyone else in that photograph is extremely popular in the usual alt-right internet cesspools.

Whether you choose to acknowledge that reason or live in denial of it is entirely up to you.

Rogan has always been off his tits and doesn't know anything, but has these looney crazies on, who are now apparently the new intellectuals, and they're all worshipped by the alt-right.

him, Bill Burr and post-humously also George Carlin. maybe Bill Hicks too.

George Carlin was very anti-conservative. He was a constant critic of conservatives, Republicans, and especially the religious right. He was critical of the left when it came to political correctness or liberal paternalism, but I don't think that makes him alt-right.

Unless there's a side of George Carlin that I don't know of.

Carlin hated the right, and Hicks hated everyone. Some of Hicks's comedy hasn't aged well, but there's no doubt that he would be railing against what's happening right now. They definitely wouldn't be friends to the alt-right, that's ridiculous.
