Don't know if I am more hyped for Spider-Man or Red Dead. That's a big accomplishment, nothing should be drawing me away from Red Dead.
Insomniac has a solid track record, there are faults, but the majority is positive. Evolve came from a newish studio with some experienced developers, but Turtle Rock was by no means an Insomniac in terms of infrastructure or resources. Spider-Man is coming out in 2 months, it is probably close to its final form.
It is apples and oranges between the two. Also, the 4v1 was an innovation in game design, Spider-Man is very well established and more about getting it right than figuring out something new.
This may be a marketing ploy, but everyone that plays it thinks its great.
Pretty sure there are a lot more.
There's a ton of publications there and they all tend to give awards (well, not all, but most). So if this gets like Best PS4 Game, Best Action Game, Best of Show, etc, it can end up piling up quite quickly.
They mean a good amount to the Developers of the games, I mean their game is getting recognized for doing good things, by critics, they mean something.

Sure. I'm sure the devs appreciate the acknowledgement of their hard work.
But as a consumer. E3 awards don't me poop to me. E3 is a pageant show. Not a place for in-depth looks.

Most journos and many gamers had like 30-45mins with the game, some even longer. Several actually played it multiple times too. I'd say that is pretty in-depth as far as initial gameplay experiences go.
Probably better to not get hyped to much. E3 Awards has often nothing to do with quality and the gameplay scenes received mixed reception.
Early enough to get hyped when first previews are good.
20-45 minutes is not in-depth at all lol. A lot of games don't start showing flaws until hours in.
Psst there's a lot of glowing previews too. It was playable at E3.

Whilst true, it's still enough time to get a feel for the core mechanics, controls, swinging, combat, traversal and so on. Eg the basic fundamentals. Hell they essentially let people do whatever they wanted during the demo, so those who played it multiple times got to experience a bit of everything, from general exploration, missions, side quests, a boss fight and so on.
So because of one example of an overhyped game, we're ignoring years of E3 awards being right on the mark. Oh well, at least Evolve is being remembered in some form.
For a game that releases in a few months, I think it's a good indication on how the quality will be when it releases.
Sure. I agree you can get the fundamentals of a game from a half hour to an hour long demo. I'm also not saying the game doesn't look like its gunna be good.
I'm just saying I don't know why were hyping e3 awards.
Have you looked at the list of past award winners posted above? They're pretty consistently some of the best games ever made. Bodes pretty well for Spider-Man.

Make us a good one, I'll appreciate Insomniac's work. I'm hoping this will last me till the release of Red Dead.
While I do think Spider-Man will end up a good game because of the team behind it, E3 awards aren't really indicative of anything other than the ability to put on a tightly controlled presentation of an unfinished project. Spider-Man will end up pretty damn good though. Insomniac has been great for a long time.

Debtable. A lot of those games, especially the ones in the Act/Adv category are pretty average AAA games in my eyes.
The best console game list is a little better but even those have enough duds (to my tastes) to not exactly start expecting GOTY
