That episode wasn't too bad for recent standards, though there were plenty of things wrong. Eugene's puke escape has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in this show. He could have done anything, like a punch in the face, get a handful of dust and throw it in her eyes or simply push her away and run for it. No, he puked on her. What the actual fuck. Also, since it seems implied that the show will now go in a rather different direction compared to the comics, I wonder how the whole Negan storyline ends. I really, really hope they won't reach a "lol let's have peace" moment like Carl would have wanted, because after all that happened between them it wouldn't be credible at all. No joke, was watching the episode with my GF and she said (as a huge fan) that she'll quit if they go "all out peace" on us. Can't say I'd blame her. Rick needs to beat the shit out of Negan's head with Lucille in the season finale. The only cliffhanger or non risolutive ending I'd be fine with is if they mirror S6's finale, with Rick going around Negan and his men with Lucille in his hands, terrorizing them and potentially beating the shit out of a couple of them in next season's pilot. I could accept that, but if they simply take their time to resolve it I might quit as well tbh.
Which brings me to the fact that they fucked two major bad guys in one shot. It was predictable, but it's still sad: the whole betrayalton was literally the only thing truly interesting going on these past few episodes, but it intigues me if this leads Rick and his buddies into a trap. We could have a dramatic episode on our hands, hopefully they deliver. And what to do after that? I hope they trash the comics and go full on crazy. Not because the comics are bad, but doing filler after filler to get that episode count just to adapt the Negan arc into 2 seasons was dreadful, hopefully the new showrunner can do better than that. About that, the whole helicopter thing is intriguing because for the first time in a long long time we might actually see something different. A military camp with modern tech? A place that is safe from the zombie apocalypse? Actual modern warfare with military equipment? A potential base to capture after which Rick would suddenly own a literal army? The potential for something great is there, and while I'm not holding my breath with this show since about S4, I am still in for the characters, the atmosphere, and the potential of it all going somewhere eventually. And well, for all its flaws, the Negan arc was still more enjoyable than the Governor idiocy.
