what happened in the comics?Man if they had just stuck to the comics this episode would have been so much better.

Was really expecting some preview or last minute after credit sequence hinting at the Whisperers.
They'll spend all of next season building to that. You'll just have wait for Fall 2019 for anything interesting with that lol
Bloody hell this should be the end of this show already. It's fucking stupid to set the tone of Maggie & D turning on Rick just when they're starting to build up civilization.
You can apply this to the entire show.Man if they had just stuck to the comics this episode would have been so much better.

Not only the herd but the field itself they were standing on when they saw it.
That actually sounds pretty goodHaven't seen this one yet, but from what I'm seeing here and being up to date on the comics:
- Dwight wounds Rick with the arrow in front of Negan, not Tara and Simon respectively. Negan shows up to Hilltop and gets a priceless reaction for seeing Rick alive
- A good moment where Rick lays out the future (similar to Carl's speel in the show) to Negan and actually convinces Negan...only to slice Negans throat and demand the Saviors to surrender. Negan still manages to break Rick's leg before passing out. Dwight gets the groups to stand down.
- Carl attempts to execute Negan and is stopped. Rick is the one trying to teach Carl a better way, not the other way around.
- Maggie and Jesus don't turn on Rick or plot. Maggie hates keeping Negan alive, but believes Glenn wouldn't want them executing people either. However, at a point later in the storyline Maggie does go apeshit on Rick and kicks the shit out of him, as well as plan to kill Negan. Andrea (romantic role for Rick) is also against keeping Negan alive, but again no plotting.
Plus in general it's much more condensed and the characters behave in-line with who they are and their surroundings, unlike how the show moves along. Plus with Carl dead, the next arc will just boil down to just another conflict, instead of anything more than that. Kid was a huge part of it in the best way IMO.
Honestly i don't see how they go into the next story arc in the comics without Carl.....
One thing I didn't get was rick saying it was a trap and he then still going right into the line of fire. If Eugene doesn't screw up the bullets they are all dead. I would definitely have preferred them winning an actual fight or even outsmarting the saviors.
So Eugene's plan depended on none of the Saviors firing a single bullet on their way to the ambush point? If even one Savior had shot a walker on the way, his entire plan would have been exposed.
Isn't that the point though? That it was a big gamble? Hence why he was so eager to run after Gabriel when he jumped out of the vehicle.
So he just wanted to make sure none of the Saviors shot at Gabriel?

For those that read the comic do they ever leave the hilltop/savior locations for good? I'm so sick of those sets.

At some point ,they plan on rebuilding Alexandria, right?? They have the people and a carpenter, unless they don't want to divide their forces.
Walking Dead is the "Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" of zombie television. My guess: The writers planted a seed to try and get the audience buzzing with Maggie and Daryl.
Three eps into season 9 and theyll be "Rick was right."

Seems like Dwight was fine with that choice though. In the end dude just wanted Negan to go down, himself to atone for his sins, and his wife. He gets all three now.Laura gets to stay at the sanctuary, everyone's happy but Dwight gets sent off into no man's land. Wut. That's gotta burn... Helping Rick's people, getting caught and the person who ratted you out is gardening in a safe zone and you're all alone left to read letters from your missing wife with a 4 pack of stale beer.
Did Arat die btw?
Just looked that up.Hopefully they keep the big culling moment from the comics next season.
Kill a ton of side characters, plus Rosita and Ezekial by the mid season finale. Michonne may bite it by the season finale too if she adopts Andrea's role completely, and Father Gabriel. Unfortunately, that means a good black character is out unless the Oceanside leader picks up a front and center role.
Idk if I'd call AoW in the comics weak. It's good with the collection now, but perhaps felt slow to kickoff and then ended quickly with even the bimonthly issues.
It would be hilarious if Cohan doesn't return for season 9 after that setup.

So did Eugene do that in the comics?
I did not see that coming
Somone give me a better understanding:What do Daryl, Jesus and Megan want with Rick and why?

This is exactly why the scene is so poorly done. Bottom line is they don't agree with Rick's decision to keep Negan alive, so they're going to kill Negan when the time is right. There's a lot of superfluous dialogue that almost makes it sound like they're going to make Rick regret it or some nonsense, total out of character moment for everyone involved.
