I take it you want Legion to go out on top?
I truly don't understand how anybody could possibly be enjoying this season of Legion.
It's tied with Westworld as the worst thing I've watched in 2018. Nothing else even comes close to those two.
The project marks a move into series by Collet Serra and his L.A.-based Ombra Films. Collet Serra's movies, including Liam Neeson thrillers "Unknown," "Non-Stop" and "The Commuter,"
...
Ryan Engle, a writer on "Non-Stop," Collet Serra's biggest hit to date with $222.8 million in global revenue, is writing the new eight-episode drama. It will start shooting next year.
The new series centers on a young woman's disappearance on the party island of Ibiza. A mysterious American man lays the groundwork to infiltrate the island's underworld and find the people responsible.
The show will follow the lives of a single family, the Lyons, over 15 years in a Britain rocked by political change and economic and technological advances. "When their lives all converge on one crucial night in 2019, the story accelerates into the future, following the lives and loves of the Lyons over the next 15 years," the producers said.
In a near future in which Britain has left the EU, America is isolationist, and China increasingly powerful, the story also takes in the rise to power of Vivienne Rook, a new breed of politician, entertainer, and rebel.
The last episode was actually pretty good. The (lead) doctors on the show are fine, it's the villains that are cartoonish with the exception of Bruce Greenwood's character. That's because The Resident is incredibly awful and also showcases the worst medicine. Like it's purpose is to make doctors and hospitals look bad.
Israeli producer Keshet International has teamed with HBO to option the bestselling Ronen Bergman book Rise And Kill First: The Secret History Of Israel's Targeted Assassinations. The book is a definitive history of Israel's covert targeted killing programs of Mossad, Shin Bet and the IDF that have been a staple of Israeli intelligence since the beginning of its statehood in 1948.
The initial intention is for Keshet and HBO to create and co-produce a limited series that will be done in English language and shot in Israel. The hope is for annual reprises that focus on different missions. The book's title comes out of the Talmud: "If someone comes to kill you, rise up and kill him first." That has been a cornerstone principle in protecting Israelis from terrorists and much of that has come through targeted assassinations, many of them done preemptively to take out enemies and suicide bombers before they strike.
Ar-... Are they going to glamorise extrajudicial killings? Unless they take the Munich route and make sure that there is at least some problematisation of the assassinations this will be the hardest pass in a while.
Netflix has greenlighted an eight-episode Dolly Parton anthology series, with each episode based on a song by her. In addition to serving as singer/songwriter, Parton will executive produce and will also appear in the series.
...
The Netflix pact is similar to the agreement NBC inked with the country star three years ago for a series of standalone TV movies based on her "songs, stories and inspiring life," with an option for Parton to appear in them. That deal yielded the movie Coat Of Many Colors, watched by almost 16 million viewers, and its sequel, Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love. The films, also from Dixie Pixie Productions, Magnolia Hill Entertainment and WBTV, aired as NBC holiday specials in 2015 band 2016, respectively.
Does Legion S2 manage to be even more obnoxious than the first? I dropped it four episodes in.
Season 2 makes season 1 look like The Wire. It's way less creative, wastes the supporting cast and has even less plot. It's been excruciating to watch.
Man I already don't care for the supporting cast in S1 lolSeason 2 makes season 1 look like The Wire. It's way less creative, wastes the supporting cast and has even less plot. It's been excruciating to watch.
Yeah... Keshet... and they want to shoot in Israel? I think this'll definitely lean towards glamorization which, ugh.Ar-... Are they going to glamorise extrajudicial killings? Unless they take the Munich route and make sure that there is at least some problematisation of the assassinations this will be the hardest pass in a while.
I imagine in 10-15 years every drama show will drop all its episodes all at once on whatever platform its on.
That seems to be the direction Netflix is going.I think the better strategy, assuming you are operating with *monthly* subs is to spread out your episodes so people have a reason to at least keep your sub for 3-4 months.
The 3-4 months on network be killing meYeah it seemed pretty obvious with how TV production works and how things capture the public attention that shows being gone for 12+ months wasn't the best for Netflix. Creators generally didn't seem to like it either.
Netflix will keep playing around until it finds a sweet spot in releasing episodes or split seasons.
I use that time to catch up on all the shows I missed and I'm still like two years behind
Like Gotham?I use that time to catch up on all the shows I missed and I'm still like two years behind
Okay okay I'll catch up and watch the final season with Era
I use the summers for streaming shows and actually playing some video games for once. Even though I love my CW I love the break too.I use that time to catch up on all the shows I missed and I'm still like two years behind
You a better man than me
Better but at what?Every person who watches Gotham is better than one who doesn't.
I think a good model would honestly be a 4 episode, three months batch of a show at a time. You get maybe three mini arcs for your drama shows and if they're good, people will buzz about them for three months in a a row. Then people might hop on after the first month thinking they only have a few eps to catch up on.
They're already shooting now, they do it in the off-season for the actors who have TV show commitments. It definitely won't be late 2019 though, it should be finished shooting pretty soon. Late 2018 or early 2019.I was looking up when Always Sunny would be back, it was suppose to be back late 2019. Think it might come back quicker now that Dee is free?
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Constantin Film lost its output deal with Netflix, which helped to foot the bill for the pricey genre drama. Without Netflix's financial backing Constantin sought a greater cash infusion from Freeform, which sources say was unable to afford to keep the series running.
The Netflix split season model sucks so far cause it doesn't seem like it was planned out and was just something decided after the season was already shot.
Usually there's a mid-season finale / cliffhanger type thing but Arrested Development S5A just kind of ends and you're like "that's it?"
And with Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 4A it has six half-hour episodes so you'll breeze through it in just three hours and then have an eight month break for the next three hours (Season 4B returns January 25, 2019).
The plot doesn't really come together until eps 8. I thought the series was just ok until then. Eps 9 onwards though, oh boy...Three episodes in and The Expanse is starting to click with me.
The production values are slick, the plot is coming together, and even the characters are starting to become interesting. The "moon talk" is still embarrassing, but it doesn't come up often enough to ruin the show. I'm glad it got renewed.
Isn't that show terrible tho? I'm a sucker for anything remotely supernatural and even I haven't checked it yet :(
Cloak and Dagger reviews are actually a lot better than I thought they would be
Okay, well... Saw this over on US PoliERA. Surprised no-one's posted it here yet?
Report: ABC Considering 'Roseanne' Reboot Centered Around Sara Gilbert
Not linking to TMZ, because urgh-gross. I'd absolutely watch a Darlene-centred Roseanne. Roseanne herself I always felt was the weakest link in the show - the most one-dimensional, unnuanced of all the characters (maybe even including DJ, there).
