I would be happy if we could retire these from era:
-Bernie Bro
-lib /liberal as an insult
-miquetoast
-centrist (which almost always means nothing and/ or has a shifting definition depending on the user)
If the argument is to retire charged terms with negative connotation, I guess. Problem is, people will just come up with another label. Best to address the behavior of the individual in this instance I'd imagine.

He didn't take PAC money so it's all individual donors. The average? Who knows.
I think we can safely assume the number of individual donors he got was less than Sanders, so I think we can presume the average donation was higher. I imagine they'd have pushed that figure if it too surpassed Sanders impressive haul.

I kicked in $5 for Beto on day one (as I do with every candidate that seems viable / palatable to me... have to do my part to increase their donor numbers and decrease their averages), but I am starting to worry that I'll regret it more and more as more of his policy platform is revealed.

That would be my guess, too since their amount raised isn't too different.

If you just want me to type out 'white male toxic Bernie Sanders supporter' every time I'm talking about that demographic, if it avoids any misunderstanding I've clearly got time to type more letters.

They want government healthcare, that doesn't mean they want single payer, as polls show:

Basically, they don't actually want single payer. I dug up other polls on the subject previously, but you get the idea.

So weird that people love insurance companies

They don't love insurance companies, they are terrified of not having the limited options they have no and are scared if it goes away that they could be fucked with nothing there for them.

This.

... and also the polling varies wildly depending on how the question is asked and what other questions are asked during the same poll.

This.

People are so used to what they have being the only thing they can get that they're terrified of even trying to imagine having more.

And most of the time the question literally is "Would you be happy if you lost your private insurance" which might as well be asking them "If we left you in the middle of the ocean on a piece of driftwood, would that scare you?"

I am still in shock about Beto. I can't keep up with all the draggings ;__;

I still feel he's not all that though. Let's see if polls reflect the supposed broad appeal the fundraising implies.

The question order in this particular poll was:
Do you support medicare for all?

If you support medicare for all, do you still support it if it eliminates private insurance?

And we can argue back and forth on common understandings and root meanings, I guess, since that seems to be the main hang up here.
Yeah, your claim that stan is as sexist and childish as bernie bro was what caused me to ask you to explain yourself in the first place. I'm not sure why you're trying to pass it off like it was a side tangent of your and my interaction when that was the whole of it.

It's actually amazing. Dude will beat Trump handily. Don't worry about it ;)

He's not even in my top three but I feel more confident in him winning than in any of my preferred candidates.

There is no reason to assume this. Everyone thought them not releasing the number on Friday, then again on Saturday, and even louder on Sunday was "proof" he raised less than Bernie did which he clearly did not.

AUSTIN, Texas — Less than one week after Beto O'Rourke announced he is running for president in 2020, an artist took his skills to the next level to show support for the El Paso Democrat.

Stan Herd is best knows as an "earth artist" and is based out of Lawrence, Kansas.

Herd said it took him more than a week to create the 2-acre Beto O'Rourke crop circle.

It's not that hard to "sound like Bernie", but just talking the talk isn't enough. No one else has 40 year old clips talking about how they want to nationalize industries (except Beto's edgy teen hacker anarchist phase, ironically enough).

No one else has 40-year-old essays claiming that women fantasize about rape either

Bernie wrote about how gender roles are harmful in the 70's and used rape fantasies as an example of why they are messed up. Truly a monster.

Let's see what comes up on some of Beto's old message board posts before we call that case closed

That's actually a great response from Bernie; because yeah no one has the credibility on these issues. People want someone they know believes what they are saying

I don't think any of the "how do you do fellow socialists" candidates will take Bernie's fans away from him. If he loses it'll be because the electorate isn't as liberal or desires straight up socialism/ want America to become Norway like some people perhaps believe it is

This is my reading of him as well. Feel like it would be establishment status quo with him and another 4-8 years lost in terms of trying to make real necessary change in areas like health care and criminal justice reform.
do you really think Beto is going to not sign progressive laws into law if he's elected and we somehow take the senate and keep the house?
Like Medicare4 all is worked out across senate and house and voted on and he just vetoes it?

I'm still undecided at this stage, but if Beto can keep up with his insane donation numbers then whoever gets the nomination needs to copy his tactics.

Sanders and Beto are textbook proof you can raise money through grassroots methods and still go toe to toe with candidates that take big money donations.

Also I think politicians in general should take advantage of the ubiquity of livestreaming platforms that exist today. Why waste time fighting for access on TV when you can go straight to your base on your own terms? AOC and Beto have both shown it's a fantastic way to get attention.
