From Warner Bros. Pictures and HBO Max comes the family comedy "A Christmas Story
Christmas," the long-awaited follow-up to annual holiday favorite, "A Christmas Story." This time,
Ralphie is all grown up and must deal with Christmas and all that comes with it…as a dad. Peter
Billingsley returns to the role that has made kids of all ages anticipate Christmas morning like no
other.
Starring alongside Billingsley as Ralphie Parker are Erinn Hayes ("Bill & Ted Face the Music") as Ralphie's wife, Sandy; Julianna Layne ("Prodigal Son") as their daughter, Julie; River
Drosche ("Miracle Workers") as son Mark; Scott Schwartz returning as Flick; RD Robb returning as Schwartz; Ian Petrella reprising his role as Ralphie's brother, Randy; Davis Murphy ("Looking for Dr. Love") as Delbert Bumpus; with Zack Ward returning as Scott Farkus; and Julie Hagerty ("Instant Family") as Ralphie's mom, Mrs. Parker.

Clay Kaytis ("The Christmas Chronicles") directed from a screenplay by Nick Schenk ("Cry Macho") and Kaytis, screen story by Schenk and Billingsley, based upon the book In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash by Jean Shepherd.

I looks like it has none of the charm of the original. Just copy and paste generic comedy with a bunch of scenes that take advantage of people's nostalgia of the origina.

"Don't let him kick you in the face!" got an unexpected chuckle out of me. Fine! I'll watch it.

Just from that trailer, it looks like the kids will be the worst part of the movie.

As someone who has watched A Christmas Story at least once every Christmas since I was a kid, I'll give it a shot.

Good to see Julie Hagerty again, even if it is in a different comedy franchise.

Since Last of Us might be debuting in January, I might subscribe to HBO Max next month and check this out.

I love the original, and this couldn't be worse than the other sequel... Right?

This looks awful.

So much of the appeal of the original is how firmly and toxically entrenched it is in a specific era of Americana, and this has absolutely none of that while still mining from it.

It looks like they got most of the original kids back for this one, I'm impressed. I'm not expecting much but I'll watch it. I just hope it's better than any of the previous sequels (although I do remember liking My Summer Story I just hadn't seen it in years.).

My wife and I will grab a couple hot drinks, get under the covers and give this a go at some point I'm sure.

I'm kinda on the fence, but the nostalgia factor for the original is strong enough to give this one a try.

Have watched the original at least once a year probably the entirety of my life - will definitely give it a shot.

The idea is awful and the teaser was bad but that looked like it could be mindless entertainment to watch once and probably not think about again.

Looks fine enough to watch. Happy to see Melinda Dillon here and R.D Robb looks exactly the same, wow. I see Randy is in this movie, but didn't see him in the trailer.

Edit - I think it's him in the hat at the end.

I'm actually surprised that it's not just 100% "remember this bit from the original?". Points for that. Not expecting it to be good, but that's something.

I don't think Dillon is back, I believe they cast Julie Hagerty as Momma Parker. Love Hagerty but Dillon was terrific in the original.

Scott Schwartz was able to make the jump to and from porn / mainstream like a champ! Glad most of the original cast is back. This'll probably be terrible but... nostalgic terrible, so I'll check it out.

Not expecting much from this, but I would humor watching it once if I had HBO Max given that I make a point of tuning in for marathons of the original every Christmas.

I swear A Christmas Story has more sequels that no one has ever heard of than any other movie in history. I think the original was already the second in a series, and then there were like three or four movies that followed, including A Christmas Story 2.

I've seen bits and pieces of the Jerry O'Connell one, but I didn't even realize there was a Kieran Culkin one too.

Seems fairly harmless, so I'll check it out. Really hope it wasn't set in the 70s purely for aesthetic reasons, you could actually mine it for jokes that aren't solely relying on callbacks.
