It's pretty impressive for Nintendo. I'm having trouble trying to find Sony on this Top 300 list. Close if old.

Square Enix is in 38th, which is...is that actually kind of good for them?

Bandai Namco is 25 and Konami is (somehow) 50th.

The no debt part is the most important, they really have a huge warchest in case everything go wrong.

D'you think they could maybe forgive that guy that's having to pay them back millions for modding their hardware then? Really don't think they need the money.

Nintendo has always been pretty financially stable after the Gamecube era. Even as the WIIU flopped, they still posted profits. Switch's phenomenal success and the current state of the Japanese domestic game market is only reinforcing their high profits.

This is not necessarily a good thing fwiw. It's a huge waste of unutilized capital. I'm surprised share holders aren't agitating about it.

No, debt for a company of this size is unusual and the impressive part.
They really dont waste their money or spent above their means - and thats been the way for decades.

As of 03/31/23, Sony has $32.0 billion in assets and $24.8 billion in liabilities for a net equity of $7.3 billion.

I don't know how that doesn't qualify them for the "Top 300".

Cash wise, Nintendo has always been incredibly healthy. They never had a "red" year, at least in modern times, which is insane. Their cash reserve is an absolute case study.

As for market cap value, Nintendo is 13th in Japan, with Sony in 4th place.

In reading about Nintendo vs Sega in the 90s, I learned they didn't have any debt back then either.
