Graduated in 2019, but I sucked at networking (events to do that at ended up being cancelled anyway) and getting a job in that area didn't work out (couldn't even get one interview), too many unkowns and anxiety over how freelancing works so couldn't go that route, eventually tried placement/training in retail just to get some non-uni training/experience on the cv. But then the 1st cases in the region popped up end of the 1st week and i had to drop out due to anxiety over possibly putting family members at risk of infection.

Hopefully can try again in the new year as the vaccine rolls out.

covid was my excuse to take my entire box of plans and burn them
debilitating fear of failure also helped

I'm at almost 3 years at my house and I wish I'd waited a while longer before buying one. It was fine at first, but then the mortgage payments went up each year (they apparently didn't estimate the property tax correctly), we needed some new appliances, the water heater burst, a pipe in the guest shower burst, and just this morning at 4am another pipe starting leaking in our ceiling.

I'm in the process of getting refinanced with a new mortgage company so hopefully in a month or two things will be a bit more manageable.
Still the most stressful 3 years of my life.
The grass isn't always greener, it would seem. Sorry to hear you're having such a rough go right now. Looks like we're all in our own personal hell.

I'm an architect in Philly and a lot of firms are still moving along and I've seen a ton of openings for entry-level positions. There's been a slow on construction mostly affected by the manf. side of things thinking wood studs doubled in cost. Schools, universities, and healthcare are still moving ahead with planning and design thinking construction will start in the summer when stuff returns to normal. Architectural is about 6 months ahead of the market so there was a dip some firms without projects got hit bad but others are moving along.

Actually, I may have seen this dudes portfolio

I don't have it too bad in the sense that I still have a stable and well paying job, but it had ruined my plans to start a new career and move country in the summer. Still hoping to do it 2021 instead.

Hasn't affected me much, I never got any responses before the pandemic and still don't. It's hard to get a job in your field of choice when you're 28 years old with no job experience short of some self-employed stuff. I also never networked because I couldn't afford to live on campus and the college I went to was hours away so I did everything online.

My plans got destroyed so hard I've basically lost all progress I've made since I was 18 and I'm enrolling back in school. Hopefully things will be somewhat normal again in 4 years when I'm out and I'll have a degree that will actually get me a job then. I'm not looking forward to living with parents and putting my life on hold yet again for that time.

The mental toll has been something else

For us, it's a matter of getting our Autistic daughter the help she needs. It's been impossible to do in-person therapy sessions with the major Autism specialist where we live, and Zoom sessions aren't doing shit. Things have been extremely rough around here lately.

Hang in there. I really feel for you on this. My daughter went though the same thing several years ago and I can't imagine how much harder it must be to get the in-person therapies kids need during this pandemic. Good luck to you and yours.

Well not really, I'm on paternity leave until june next year. It sucks that theaters, open preschool and museums are closed but I'm fine just hanging out at home and outdoors.

My wife finished her masters in library science in May. G'luck getting a job at a library while they're shut down.

That said, she did just get a job for a realty company managing utility accounts and being some sort of court liaison. So there's that.

I'm lucky enough that I still have my job and my workplace enforced remote work for everyone who could.
Other than a global pay cut for everyone in the company, nothing has changed other than I don't go to work physically.

I'm really thankful for my luck as I can't imagine what's it's like to be unemployed at the moment.

I do think that there will be a significant shift in the haves and have nots due to covid.
