Yeah, that was a strange cpu to choose from. But there's still the 9900k and the 2700x, and this beats or matches the second one in almost everything.

What? Matched is not the word I'd choose for a processor that smokes a 6700k in every other application that is not gaming.

The benchmark seems skewed to look like it performs in AMD's advantage. I could be mistaken, but I thought I read that the i9 series isn't as good for gaming vs the i7 series and since they didn't use any comparable Intel CPU's and instead used several years old technology I'm guessing performance is pretty close to what Intel is offering.

Saw that. Pretty happy keeping hold of my 6700k for now, will probably switch to AMD on the next upgrade unless Intel really knock it out of the park on the next refresh.

I doubt the drivers / BIOS are anywhere near finished either.

I'd wait for more reputable sites to review before gushing it over, but Ryzen has definately brought some excitement in the CPU market.

Also, really looking forward how these fare on B350 Mobos :D Aka value kings.

That has been essentially unchanged since then. All IPC gains since then have been essentially non-existent. Sunny Cove will change that, but Sonny Cove is a ways off for desktop users. Zen 3 may even beat it.

A X470/B450, should work if updating the bios.
Sadly the new mobos are more expensive.

Given that we're talking about the 6-core 3600 chip, that's an extremely respectable result. Will wait for more reviews and a consensus to form, but if the 3600 really is trading blows with the Ryzen 7 2700X on pre-release software, I wonder what the higher clocked variants on optimised software will do.

In gaming performance, I believe the 8700k is similar to a 9900k, so no need to add it.
