Wow, AMD is now on another level. Kudos to them for bringing the competition back!

Huh, that seems too good to be true? I mean, I hope this is finally the time for a shake up but are those benchmarks perhaps not indicative of the full picture?

FYI, the i7-6700k (in those first three benchmarks) was Intel's high end consumer chip... four years ago.

Sounds like a win in price/performance
My i7-6700k is still fine, but probably going AMD when it gets long in the tooth.

To be honest, I think people would have found a way to be mad if the new Ryzen 5 didn't perform as good as the previous Ryzen 7. The expectations are super high.

Seems like a few people aren't getting the point that this is a mid-tier Ryzen CPU versus the best Intel gaming processors. The high end stuff is going to be interesting!

For a gaming, it's nice, but matching an Intel cpu that's four years old, even at $200 that should be expected. Not an insane value, or anything, though.

noticeable the i7 - 8700k is left off the game graphs. is that because performance is on par?

Hot damn if this holds up.And isn't it basically by the time Intel could feasibly answer in full, Zen 3 will be close if not out?

What? Matched is not the word I'd choose for a processor that smokes a 6700k in every other application that is not gaming.

The benchmark seems skewed to look like it performs in AMD's advantage. I could be mistaken, but I thought I read that the i9 series isn't as good for gaming vs the i7 series and since they didn't use any comparable Intel CPU's and instead used several years old technology I'm guessing performance is pretty close to what Intel is offering.

...ok, that smashes the Ryzen 5 2600 and fights with the 7 2700, I really hope for AMD they can take advantage of that and give Intel a run for its money.

That Far Cry 5 performance is especially promising. The game did NOT perform well on previous Ryzens. Interested to see how AC: Odyssey runs...

I doubt the drivers / BIOS are anywhere near finished either.

I'd wait for more reputable sites to review before gushing it over, but Ryzen has definately brought some excitement in the CPU market.

Also, really looking forward how these fare on B350 Mobos :D Aka value kings.

As someone who knows how to build but hasn't done so in quite a while, what's an affordable (not to say "cheap") mainboard for this? Might be time to finally build a new PC :D

That has been essentially unchanged since then. All IPC gains since then have been essentially non-existent. Sunny Cove will change that, but Sonny Cove is a ways off for desktop users. Zen 3 may even beat it.

Given that we're talking about the 6-core 3600 chip, that's an extremely respectable result. Will wait for more reviews and a consensus to form, but if the 3600 really is trading blows with the Ryzen 7 2700X on pre-release software, I wonder what the higher clocked variants on optimised software will do.
