So it looks like that week or so ago MS/Bethesda decided to switch from Bethesda Launcher keys to Steam keys for PC Digital Stores. This is first Bethesda game since RAGE 2 i think that will be sold as Steam key and not Bethesda Launcher key. Info was confirmed by GMG Twitter account

And i contacted GameBillet support and got this answer.

Also apparently this is new info regarding physical copies

"The PC version of Deathloop will be a game code printed on an insert inside the game case. This code can be redeemed on BNET and will link to steam. Redemption instructions will be included. "

Bethesda Launcher sunsetting incoming?

Nice! I didn't get Doom Eternal till a couple of weeks ago because of the awful Steam regional pricing and my only other option being the Bethesda app.

Nice, now I won't need to wait as long to get Bethesda games at decent prices

That's good news. I believe it's part of Microsoft's strategy to have every one of their games available on Steam as well. Having a second launcher in addition to the Xbox app on Windows doesn't really make sense.

WOOHOO

This is fantastic news, the Bethesda launcher was frankly kind of annoying to deal with (it would always forget your login after way too short a period of time).

Nice. GMG switched my pre-order order over to the Steam version.

I wonder if/how Bethesda will allow people to transfer their games over to Steam.
I own quite a few games on the launcher.

No point for MS to have Bethesda launcher when they have their Xbox app. So yeah, it'll go away soon.

Well, on the one hand I like this, on the other what's gonna happen with my games on the bethesda launcher?

I can't find any Steam keys for Psychonauts 2 though. On cdkeys the game is priced higher than Steam's €60 and keys are also out of stock. Can't find a key anywhere else either (on reputable sites).

I hope the entire bethesda.net thing gets scrapped tbh. Migrate everything to MS infra and call it a day.

Awesome news. Hopefully MS kills the Beth launcher and somehow gives Steam versions and keys for those games.

That would be cool, but I won't hold my breath after how they went about ditching GFWL.

I would like that, the only issue will then be saves, I hope we can migrate them easily enough.

Some should work automatically and some will need moving manually. Checking the relevant PC gaming wiki page should tell you where to find them. Just be sure not to uninstall the bethesda version before making sure everything's working in the steam version as it might delete the save, and bethesda.net doesn't back them up.

One of the unexpected good things about the acquisition is the certain death of the beth launcher.

I know this isn't a popular opinion, but DualSense features are worth getting it on PS5 for me.

It's not an unpopular opinion, as there plenty of are gamers that pay 10-30€ extra for those features in PS5 games. But the game has full controller support, and DualSense is usable on PC as well. They might support some or all of its features in PC as well. Regardless, I prefer to enjoy FPS games with mouse&keyboard as controls and the feel are so much better than with a controller.

Woah woah woah, that's amazing news! I pre-ordered it on CDkeys two days ago, but their page still says it's a Bethesda launcher key. Do we know if they too will send out Steam keys instead? Or do I cancel and buy it on GMG, which seems to be $3 more.

Good, hate it when you go to buy something and it's on any other launcher except steam

I just noticed this earlier too when checking GMG, pre ordered Deathloop there as soon as I saw it was no longer a Bethesda key. GMG is my go-to for authorized key sellers usually, they get some good deals.

I'm curious if this is definitely across the board - CDKeys still lists the Bethesda Launcher.

Zenimax recruitment page has 23 open jobs for Bethesda.net, so I'm not expecting an immediate execution for beth dot net or it's account integration. We'd be lucky if they axed the digital distribution side of things and just merged it into steam keys or something though.

I'll be waiting to hear how the game runs for people, and to see if there's a way to bypass the Bethesda.net login, but this is great news!
After my most-recent upgrade, Dishonored 2 does finally run smoothly on my system (3700X/3060Ti) but only at 60 FPS.
I hate that they retroactively patched in that login to many of their older games, so that it prompts me about it every time I launch them.

CDKeys got back to me, they said they'll review my refund request in the next few days.

Gonna go purchase it from GMG I guess.

Nice I didn't want to buy it on PC because sellers only gave out Bethesda keys. The GMG price is tempting. Listed for $46.79 after I signed in.

it still says bethesda launcher, you think they'll change it then?

CD Keys resells keys taken from retail copies purchased in bulk, but if the redemption process is as it sounds (redeem on Bethnet -> link Steam account -> receive Steam licence), then, yes, they'll essentially be Steam keys. But CD Keys won't be able to confirm that until it has actually received stock.

Oh what, this is a thing?? They give you free Steam keys when you link for whatever Bethesda launcher games you have?
Maybe I should've kept my CDKeys pre-order, oh well…

Is there any good deals out there? Everything I saw was full price.

That's awesome! I'm not really interested in Deathloop, but hopefully this means Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI will get the same treatment.
