Someone ripped the PS4 model/textures and ported them to PC years ago. It's somewhat buggy and only supports the default costume, so this new version is welcome.at least itll be easier to mod this into the steam version probably along with the new textues
this isnt the first time the windows store version of a game is different from steam/the rest. happened with nier and ff13 as well iirc
I think textures got reworked, didn't they? It's been so long, other than Lara's face being tweaked what were the major differences from the original 2013 game and definitive edition?
Lighting changes, gear physics, updated TressFX. Probably some other stuff too. It's been so long, other than Lara's face being tweaked what were the major differences from the original 2013 game and definitive edition?

It also happened with the first Evil Within. Which is an especially annoying case because the version on there has considerably better performance and a handful of new gameplay features.this isnt the first time the windows store version of a game is different from steam/the rest. happened with nier and ff13 as well iirc
Didn't it add dynamic foliage of a sort as well?Lighting changes, gear physics, updated TressFX. Probably some other stuff too.
Just read elsewhere that this is completely free, as long as you own the console version. Game pass not required.

Haha, oops sorry, I honestly missed your post when I was skimming down. Git status accepted 😂Elsewhere?!
I just told you above you git lol. Yes it's cross buy so if you own it on XO you have this ver too!
Better lighting, textures, more and denser foliage, sub surface scattering for skin and foliage, better hair rendering (as it's using TressFX 2), various environmental effects like wind simulation that cause dynamic movement in foliage/trees (original version had completely static foliage/trees)It's been so long, other than Lara's face being tweaked what were the major differences from the original 2013 game and definitive edition?
Well, the Steam version has the original Lara face model which is the best face since it shows emotion, the updated face in the MS store version uses the new Lara face model which has dead eyes.
So much emotion is lost...Well, the Steam version has the original Lara face model which is the best face since it shows emotion, the updated face in the MS store version uses the new Lara face model which has dead eyes.
It was probably from the deal they did 10 years ago with them for the console version. It's weird they wait so long though.
So much emotion is lost...
Steam version doesn't seem like a worse alternative.
Also while lighting and foliage density is improved in Definitive Edition, it doesn't has PC tessellation so some surfaces look flat or blocky. So much emotion is lost...

That's the PS4/Xbone version where they updated her model, right? Always thought the original looked better.
I get what they were going for, she does look more like Camilla Luddington in the new version, but the compromises of bringing that to the modified older engine put it in Uncanny Valley.OG Lara has all the emotion in her eyes. I felt so connected and engaged playing. New Lara is just dead inside. Hated it. I was surprised they were ok with the face downgrading.
It actually looks less like her actress. I think they tried to make it closer to the CG model (which in my impression is too babydolled).I get what they were going for, she does look more like Camilla Luddington in the new version, but the compromises of bringing that to the modified older engine put it in Uncanny Valley.
