once again it's mother's day and i've left everything to the last minute lmao
you gotta tell it
me and my bro went in on a fitbit, so i've consigned myself to a year of tech support at least
lmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaoooooY'all.... I scooped rice into the rice bowl for him. This kid took the rice bowl and dumped it onto the flat plate...and then starting pouring SOY SAUCE onto the rice.
Soy sauce. When he has stewed pork belly and stir fried spare ribs and even Kung Pao chicken (that's the dish he wanted).
First world problems, but the cafeteria downstairs today had both ribs and fried chicken. First time I see either one, and now they're both on the same day? =\You're supposed to eat the pork or ribs on top of the rice so it soaks into it.
Fishman's?
You chose poorly. You should've gotten both.First world problems, but the cafeteria downstairs today had both ribs and fried chicken. First time I see either one, and now they're both on the same day? =\
Obviously I chose ribs.
Man, mixed flavours are so good for HK egg waffles.I'm not sure how I feel about this :x I'm an egg waffle purist...
Yep, I was in Toronto last weekend.

I mean I love the original too but sometimes it's good to mix it up. A place in Toronto does that shit alongside soft serve. https://www.instagram.com/explore/locations/902221530/wooffles-cream/
They have a special one right now that is HK as fuck. Regular HK egg waffle folded in half, inside is peanut butter, sprinkled with sugar and condensed milk. So delicious.
Nice. I'm going to go in late August/early September. Can't wait!
I agree, but I see people using it to generalize Japanese people as a whole. Plus the word "barbaric" is colonial language which has been used to condemn non-white cultures for quite a long time.Granted I didn't have time to read all 8 pages, but the first and last page read to me more like "this is fucked, why you doin this Japan," more than "typical dog-eaters" Maybe I missed out on the good stuff though.
To be fair, I think there's nothing wrong with condemning the societal choice. I call the modern Middle East a medieval society stuck in the Dark Ages, so I'm of the opinion that if it quacks like a duck, you call it a duck. I don't think there's a problem with people objecting to east Asian pockets or societies that consider eating live suffering animals okay.
yeah but we Japanese love the word "barbaric" too, my grandma would let it slip from time to time lol. Hell, when the Dutch and Portuguese traders introduced their food in the Edo period it was called nanban ryori ("barbarian cooking").I agree, but I see people using it to generalize Japanese people as a whole. What is this.
Is the small proportions a thing for Michelin starrers? The French Laundry is a 3 Star Michelin restaurant.
So expect really expensive food and small portions.
It was probably a couple hundred dollars easy.
Michelin-starred places focus more on tastings, meaning their plates are small portions that focus more on an artistic blend of flavor, texture, and some artistic spin (like mixing ingredients which may not normally go together). Is the small proportions a thing for Michelin starrers?
Because I've never seen one that serves decent sized meals to its clientele.
That food was insanely good, and even though the portiob size of each dish was really small, each person gets every dish, so you still end up with enough to eat.Is the small proportions a thing for Michelin starrers?

Yeah, it was not cheap, but it's worth doing once.
Fair enough, but this forum has a horrible track record of being racist against Asian people so I'm really not inclined to give anyone the benefit of a doubt.yeah but we Japanese love the word "barbaric" too, my grandma would let it slip from time to time lol. Hehe, I dunno, the meta of that thread amuses me more than offends me to be honest
True datFair enough, but this forum has a horrible track record of being racist against Asian people so I'm really not inclined to give anyone the benefit of a doubt.
Whew at that Japanese eel thread. I'm not saying that I think doing that to eels is right or anything, but the general discourse being like "Japan is full of barbarians" is some casual racism.
Just shows how racist this forum is towards Asian things as usual.
It also helps that there's probably only one Asian moderator (Bronson but I could be wrong if anyone knows if there's another one)Which is why I'll never take this forum seriously when racism issues are ever discussed.
Imagine if I went made a thread and declared that Americans are racist gun toting maniacs who shoot poc's on sight, Id probably get crapped on with shit like "Not all Americans" or people will start playing the blame game on the NRA.
Yet in threads like the one you mentioned, so many people are quick to make blanket posts about the entire country itself. It's even more blantantly obvious when it's an Asian country.
Slayven is a smart dude, but when I saw he had an ERA mod tag I knew it was gonna be okay here. Posters like Deepwater at least call out other posters on hypocrisy and call it like they see it.It also helps that there's probably only one Asian moderator (Bronson but I could be wrong if anyone knows if there's another one)
Anyways, it's always been clear that the "woke" people here are quick to crap on Asians when it suits them with no consequence.
Eggplant yum. Tofu and crab roe.
Amazing fish
Lotus and pork bone soup. Not spicy so a good palate cleanser between other bites.
Beef in chili oil.
Cumin lamb.
Tea tree mushroom
I love mapo so so much
There's spider who frequents this thread too.It also helps that there's probably only one Asian moderator (Bronson but I could be wrong if anyone knows if there's another one)
