Droid Life

AT&T hasn't even fully launched this thing yet and they are already calling it something other than 5G. Instead, AT&T wants it to be known as "5G+." AT&T bros, 5G isn't even real yet and you already want to call it something other than 5G? We laughed and rolled our eyes when AT&T rolled out 5G Evolution, which was in no way any part of 5G, but come on.

Well, there it is.

AT&T confirmed to FierceWireless that it will soon begin changing the "LTE" indicator on some of its current Android phones to "5G E" in markets where the company now offers 4x4 MIMO, 256 QAM and other advanced LTE network technologies.

Just as with 4G, AT&T is getting phone manufacturers to relabel existing network connections to 5G so they can make bogus marketing claims.

So 4G LTE is "5G E" and real 5G is"5G+".
