Maps look gorgeous. For curiosity's sake, I wonder what the reasoning was for going for more symbolic map names rather than geography based? Seems like most maps of the past were either named as an Operation or by the geographical location of the map. I guess Battlefield 4 had some like Rogue Transmission.
probably easier to give it a nice name than saying "Country" Map every time plus it might get another map for the continent so no need to had the geography name for it.

The map is split in two. Desert area and farmland development area. With a big wall and checkpoint separating the two. There are a few different themes and inspirations going on here. The split between the abandoned / lost / poor / hopeless and the reclaimed / privileged / rich / hopeful. This theme of duality and separation is what the map drew inspirations from.
If I had to guess for a direct inspiration:

Any chance you can confirm if one of the snipers acts like the martini Henry?

Thank you appreciate it. I had the same question with the others shows because several appear to have multiple landscapes in one map which adds awesome variety from point to point.

Can you comment on something else? I saw the trailer had a boat on the beta map, but I didn't see boats in the beta. Is that just a trailer thing, or will there be a variation with boats around that south cape?

Renewal is gorgeous. I think we saw that indoor area before with Irish and it's still just fantastic. That's definitely a place I'll be jumping into a bot lobby with just to look around.

A video that shows every weapon we've seen so far. Notice there are new weapons shown now that didn't appear in the datamining, like the AC-42 and MP-28. Some of them have also changed names.

Personally I think DICE should give us a pre-order beta running from now until the 12th with everything unlocked.

This is clearly going to be the most divisive Battlefield game ever.

I think there's a world in which the majority of players adapt to it and people are really enjoying it two to three months in, but I expect the initial impressions of the final code to be vociferous. With all that said, I think EA and DICE's best interests are to have nobody play it until it's literally on store shelves.

Your first statement represents every major change the series has gone through. If the balance and polish are relatively good out of the gate, players will mostly stick with it especially now that gameplay content is free for everyone.

Does anyone know if this game will have cross parties at launch? My friends are going to play this on Xbox, but I want to play this on PC. If cross parties is not supported I will pick it up on Xbox.

I think the move to 128 players (and the impact that has on map design) as well as the switch from classes to Operators are significantly more divisive than previous changes to the series. I might be forgetting some, but nothing feels as impactful to the minute to minute feel of the game.

I do completely agree that if the balance and polish is there the game has every chance of being a success. But we know that there will be a lot of vocal critics to begin with, if the Beta was anything to go by (I personally did not enjoy it, even looking past the jank).

While I think there is legitimate caution and vocal critics, the media reception would not be over 16:1 likes on the most recent gameplay trailer if the game was really divisive.

I'm liking the variety with the maps so far. Hopefully there are large areas of lush forests in some of them

while i liked the old battlefields with the 4 classes i willing to try new things like how they are doing this for BF 2042 where they are sorta like that but no more restrictions so i'm ignoring all the whining without being constructive about it besides specialist bad, classes good.

Something to explore in post launch, potentially. Resolution is not a problem, we are hammering the CPUs with 128 players quite severely, and the CPU requirements to jump from 60 to 120 fps are not trivial. Reducing resolution won't be much of a help. :)

There is a slight colour tint difference between friendly and enemy soldiers. Enemy soldiers have a very slight darker / red-ish tint.

Depends on the layouts. Some sectors have 1 flag, others have 2, others have 3. Varies on a per implementation basis. Can also be tweaked and adjusted to balance things out better once the game launches, based on learnings and feedback.

It would be pretty hilarious if the main player in the trailer dies multiple times... though I guess not against the actual player experience. :D
Can you confirm if at least it would run in native 4k at 60fps on next gen console? On top of that many bugs that players reported including frame drops and cheaters will be gone on next gen console on its first day release?
Thanks
