Welp, guess I'm skipping this one then. My only hope now is another spinoff of Squad, but dialed forward a century instead of back to WW2.

Battlefield needs:
1. Vehicles on Map - Gone since BF4
2. Strictly defined Classes - Gone since BF3
3. Team-Specific Weapons - Gone since BadCo
while you are absolutely entitled to your opinion, none of those things where the elements that made Battlefield fun. Battlefield evolves with each title and it has done since BF1942. Also you talk about it now, but you will play it regardless because I just see that list as stuff that annoyed you but you kept playing each installment anyway

In the end its easy talk to hate a feature they have not played themselves and judge it based on how it sounds on paper, creating their own fantasy of it and think it will suck. The in game execution of features is that makes them good or bad, and unless you have tried it its just empty complaints.

edit: back on topic

I loooved irish in BF4 and I love Michael K. Williams

They concluded that people were choosing classes mostly based on weapons which defeats the purpose of playing a certain role. Now you will first choose your role on the battlefield and then what weapon to roll with.
I think that's a good change.
Far too often I'd play a class based on guns available, especially since some of the class equipment in BF have become weaker since BF1. Like Assault class requiring help from other players to destroy a vehicle etc as you don't have enough ammo to do it yourself.

Quality is not the best but looks much better than the leaked alpha, who would've thought...

Omar is coming! Looks cool, and I have no issues with the class system, it's pretty nice to be a medic w/ a customizable AR and a launcher

So excited for this to be out. Love the changes they've been making and that portable cover looks awesome.

Im back in 2007

This, Halo Infinite and a new CoD?

Like the days of rotating H3, BFBC2 and Cod4.

Looks so good.

Hah I think were at the point where the people who played these games as teens are now the majority of the market and so well likely see lots of nostalgia plays and 'back to basics' titles. Happens a lot in media, fashion etc.... circular nature of culture supply and demand.

I finally can make a character my own now. I always like that.
Yea I dig the philosophy, feels like they're focusing more on letting players feel empowered to do what they want to do, plus the Orbital map isn't as constrained as some of the recent BF maps have been. BF 2042 is on the right path for sure

I've seen the alpha footage and while it's not blowing me out of the water I think it looks aesthetically nice.

I'll be feasting this fall with BF 2042 and Halo.

Sure would be nice to get a gameplay trailer someday...

Kind of a weird move to let leaked alpha footage be the only gameplay footage out.

I'm torn because the guns don't seem to recoil much, but then i remember that modern guns don't recoil that much, man i need to get hands on with this thing! I will say that the wall just appearing and having no build time just looks poor.

Not exactly a big deal but still unsure why they made him an engineer rather than a support. Would seem to make sense to give the LMG using character of BF4 a support class.
Its more this now

  • Assault – Front-line soldiers
  • Support – Player support characters, equivalent to Medic in Battlefield V
  • Engineer – Tech support characters, equivalent to Support in Battlefield V
  • Recon – Stealth characters

On one hand I wanna run around with Irish with that cool looking hoodie. But on the other hand, I can't ever see myself using that deployable cover lol.

Game looks gorgeous as expected, can't wait for beta.

What?
WHY?!
That dashed my hopes for a Return To Form in a single sentence.
Because people werent playing classes they were simply following weapons.
IF i wanted to use gun X i was forced to choose class Y but I dont give a shit about what class Y actually does.

Like this your loadout is how you want to play instead of shoehorning me into a role ill never fulfill cuz I know I just wanted to use LMGs

That aim assist looked wackadoo.

Jesus that aim assist is like a magnet…I hope they finally add aim assist to PC if you use a controller.

Is it me or does it looke some like heavy aim assist? or just really good snappy aim.

You guys realize they are playing on PC with a Mouse and Keyboard.
The editing got you and/or youve just never seen anyone play well with a mouse.

Man, Battlefield is always so good with gun audio, and this one is clearly no different. I wish 343 was able to match the fullness of sound, it adds so much to the way a gun feels. Not to hate on what I saw from Infinite; there's a lot of good sound design there, but something about the UNSC weapons and explosions just sound muted and crunchy compared to Battlefield's full, powerful pop.

Hope they change the killfeed tho and its a placeholder. From reading online no one is liking it. I agree also.

Someone made a BF3 killfeed in 2042. Still looks good

I think the bottom killfeed screenshot looks really bad 🤷🏽‍♂️ I prefer the minimalist version they're rolling with. Easy enough to see center screen if you get a kill but less clutter.

Really hoping the kill feed changes too... The one in the Tech Alpha was really confusing to me, I couldn't tell who I killed or if I actually killed them.

I completely forgot Michael K Williams was in Battlefield 4 and that this is him again as the same character.

looks like a cool game, generally speaking though I feel like a lot of battlefield matches devolve into a cluster fuck of grenades, tank shots, bombing runs and getting shot in the foot by someone that can somehow see you poking out behind rubble from an angle you couldn't possibly cover so I'm curious how all of this emphasis on abilities and equipment and tactical approach will really matter.
