Liking the moment when Raziel delivers his final lines in particular, watching that intro again just now (music and VA intonation certainly help): "…An eternity passed, and my torment receded, bringing me back from the precipice of madness. The descent had destroyed me, and yet, I lived..."
i really dug this as a kid - the epic music just made you want to dive into the thick of it - i really wish we could get another campaign based Rainbow
All Kingdom Hearts games seriously the openigs scenes + the themes. Yeah it's insane brings tears to my eyes....
The KH3 one is gonna be insane with that new theme song damn..... I bet theyll do a cgi opening that shows all events so far + new stuff. It's gonna make me bawl like crazy.
Also KH2 roxas and metal gear solid 2.
Edit: MGSV gets lots of flack but the opening is insane.
I'm so bad at deciding what my favorite is because I always think, "but that one was cool too"
I'll go with the First Gran Turismo game because it's a different genre to the ones in the topic.
I didn't even like the first Gran Turismo game but the opening was something else lol.
The music helps a lot and is one of my favorite remixes. I'm going to be listening to the manic street preachers all day now lol
Hnnngggg that BioShock opening. I remember playing the demo on 360 and being absolutely blown away by the water effects when you first submerge from the water. And that was on an SD tv.
I loved the Wild Arms 3 intro and the way it gradually unlocked further scenes and vocals the further you progressed in the game. I wish more games did something like that with their intro.
It's a shame 2's suffers from Destiny-syndrome where the developers sort of kneejerked and made it dramatic only via sensationalism and less with plot, but it is a visually and cinematically stunning way to re-enter the series after playing the first game and definitely emotionally riveting. The first game's opening to the title-reveal is an all-time classic for me. "Mass Effect" sounds like it's just a name they picked cuz it would sound cool, so it takes you by suprise almost when you're reading the text-crawl and the brilliant sci-fi concept that is the mass-effect, of manipulating the mass (weight) of objects thus enabling a kind of intersolar faster than light traveling, is laid bare for you.
I'm laying it in thick because I want BioWare guys to read it and remember what the hell their title meant and what the focus of the games should continue to be >:P
For me, any game that lets you start actually playing straight away - maybe it's my fault as I have a short enough window of time in which to play games as it is - but spending the opening hour watching cutscenes and playing short 'walk forward' sections drives me insane - for that reason I was very impressed with Spider-Man as you're swinging through the city about 60 seconds after pressing start.
here's my favourite. haunting. it gave me chills as a child and still does
the first 20 seconds are sublime. the silence, eeriness. it's such a good thematic representation of that game. and then, classic zelda kicks back in - the music, the town, the characters! except, at the end... there's a hideous aggressive musical cue cutting through it, as it ends on that iconic shot. it's perfect
