Confirmed that NBC Gold allows a bunch of concurrent streams. Anyone want to split the 2018 streaming package? It's $50 so looking for someone to split it with me
I may be interested. I've barely watched any races but always enjoy tdf for background
With a cheap road bike, what could I do to get the most bang for my buck out of it? Getting the bike fit to me, good tires/tubes, new drivetrain, clip ins? Or do those costs add up enough to the point where I should just get a new bike?
I'm currently riding a 5 or 6 year old Giant, only thing I've done to it is move the seat post up and replace the tubes and the back rubber when it got a non-repairable puncture. Not looking to be a tour rider or anything, but to just get a little more performance out of my rides.
Nasty. Hope you're okay and the bike is too.I had my first crash this morning since I started cycling.
I was on the cyclepath and was crossing the slip road to rejoin the path. Someone from the opposite direction didn't see me coming (sun in his eyes I think) and we collided head on and he went right onto my side of the path.
He came off okay, but I was gushing blood from the nose and severely winded. It teaches me a lesson for trying to break my Strava PRs though.

Ah that sounds bad, hope you are ok and no lasting damage, yeah going to fast when there is some traffic can be dangerous.
Man when I climb even low gradients, like 4-5 % I can't keep my HR in zone 2... I assume the only thing that will make this better is climbing more, it sure doesn't help that I'm 90 kg... I think today I just destroyed me because I took a "Gravel Path" that had 20+ Gradient for a short time and I nearly died reaching the top of that short climb... Afterwards I couldn't get my HR back into zone 2 except if I did nothing. Still did 30km with 450m elevation change.
Ugh... so I did my priming ride on the trainer. Was hotter than Satan's asshole in there but it went OK.
Will be nuclear hot tomorrow so I'm really hoping I have the fitness to get past the two really serious hills before I completely melt. I don't do well on the road bike, so wish me well you waxed fashionistas. :P
Anyone making a Tour de France topic? First drive was already exciting. Gavira win, and favorites already losing a lot of time. Froome already almost a minute.
What sort of bike is it? If it's drop handlebars (a racing bike) then you could try putting a second layer of bar tape on the bars. If it's flat bars (mountain bike or hybrid) then I'd try some gloves with a bit of padding on the palms. It also helps to adjust the position of your hands on the bars periodically.
Why?i bought a giant talon 3 last year around black friday time to begin learning to mountain bike but didnt start using it heavily until this april and now 250 miles later I feel like I should've gotten a full suspension :( should I stick it out and keep using this hardtail? I dont want to buy any upgrades for it because I'd rather save for a whole new bicycle rather than updating to a dropper post, a new fork and new wheels (which will come out to the price of the bike anyway) any good full suspension bikes in the 1500-2000 range? I'm looking at the specialized camber or the stunt jumper alloy and I can't find much on youtube

Oh my god my knees are shot. No idea why. I did the same ride on Friday and Saturday. Same distance, same route, both knees feel like I just did back to back centuries, but was less than 30 miles each ride.
Why?
I rode (and still ride) hardtails for 20 years. What exactly are you doing that makes you think you need a full suss?
So i have decided to ride a bicycle again after a solid 15 years of not touching one and I'm really enjoying it so far. Have a few questions though.
I've been doing about 5 miles a day since I've started (last week). I'm exhausted since I'm fresh of the couch somewhat. Is that a good start? Also my hands want to get a little tingly and such after riding, like say 30-45 minutes. Going to consult my physician soon due to carpal tunnel concerns from my profession, but would adjusting the handle bars help? Too much pressure on my hands maybe? I think I may need to take this into a shop to get it fitted for my height and size or would that be a waste of money?
I'm a handtherapist. There are quite a few things that can cause numbness in your fingers. Which fingers are affected? It's not necessarily your carpal tunnel (median nerve) that is causing the issue.
If it's your pinky/ ring finger, it's more likely to be an ulnar nerve compression. If its the middle/ index finger and thumb it's median nerve (carpal tunnel).
Gloves are actually designed to tackle these varying pressure points.
Don't get gloves that have padding in places where you don't need it. It'll only cause more issues.
"Flossing" while riding can also help. Take your hand off the bars for a bit and move you wrists forwards and backwards. Stretch and flex your fingers.
This pulls your tendons and nerves through their tunnels and sheaths, alleviating pressure.
Nice work everyone on their recent rides. Seems like lots of people have been pushing themselves. I had a weekend off the bike but did go for a swim in the North Sea. Pretty cold.
Yeah our beaches in Northumberland are amazing. It's just cold as tits.I grew up in Scotland and adults used to make us go in the North Sea till "we got used to it."
I did love swimming at Gullane and Portobello tho.
