Finally made it to OoK and damn! I finally understand the hype/fear! I'm at BL 106 and thought I would be overleveled, but he is still wrecking me! I did get him down to like 10% health after less than 10 deaths which IMO shows I'm kinda overleveled. LOL. Just like the Lady Maria fight, the battle is fun.
Mixing in some chalice dungeons while going through the DLC has helped me with the Old Hunter boss battles. Battling and beating the Ailing Loran version of the BSB alone (I summoned a hunter for help on the first fight) was a true learning experience and have to say probably the hardest boss battle so far for me.
P.S. You guys weren't lying about the Sharkhead beasts. They are savage as F and feel like boss battles.
I love this game!
They could've put a boss lifebar on those Shark things and no one would've batted an eye.
It's a great idea to mix in Chalice Dungeons with the DLC since it works as a palate cleanser but also provides you with gems to up your damage. Very handy. You'll soon be heading to the Cursed and Defiled Chalice, which in my opinion is the hardest part of the game by a fair margin, along with
in the Lower Loran Chalice, who might well be the hardest optional boss in the game.
So I opened the door to the left of the lamp, also found another hidden path that led me to an area with rats, find new gear there also.
So the only thing left now is to kill that giant boss, but I have to level up first? I'm to weak ? Should I focus on stamina and health? Does strength make my attacks more powerful?
How do I buy blood vials?
How do I equip and throw molotov cocktails? when I press "use" in the menu the character immediately throws it, is there some other way?
There are actually two bosses in Central Yharnam. The big one that you've fought is Cleric Beast and he's optional but killing him brings in some rewards. You don't have to level up to kill him, but it does help. At this point I'd suggest leveling Health and either Strength or Skill. They can both make your attacks do more damage, but it depends on the weapon you're using. If you press square while highlighting a weapon in your inventory, it'll show several stats. It looks like this:
The number represent the stat requirements for using the weapon. The letters represent the Scaling, with S being the best and then going all the way down to E. In this case this weapon scales with Strength,Skill and Arcane, so putting points in any of those stats will make it do more damage, but because it's D in strength you'll get more damage from your strength stats than from skill. Different weapons scale with different stats, so you should find which weapon you like and then put points in the stats that will give you the best scaling per weapon. I suggest avoiding Arcane and Bloodtinge for now. Focus on Health, a bit of Endurance and Strength and Skill depending on the weapon you're using.
You can buy Blood Vials from the Bath Messangers in the Hunters Dream. They are to the left of the Doll.
To equip the molotovs, go into your equipment screen and you can equip items to the quickmenu. You can select the items in the quick menu by pressing down on the D-Pad and press Square to use the selected weapon.
