I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask so I'm going to cross-post this to a couple different threads.

I'm looking for help with a Christmas present if there is a kind soul in Japan who can do me a huge favor.

I'm trying to purchase a small canvas bag from the company Friendshill as a gift for my wife.

fumifumichibikkop3k95.jpg

I contacted the company to see if there is a way to purchase it from America. They have been really helpful. They will sell me the bag for 3100 yen including the bank fee. They need me to pay via bank remittance.

These are the instructions from the company representative:

1. BANK REMITTANCE : ABOUT JP\3,100.- ( JAPANESE YEN ONLY )
<DETAILS>
* BAG PRICE INCLUDING TAX : JP\1,100.-
* BANK CHARGE : ABOUT JP\2,000.- (IT DEPENDS ON BANK )

I don't believe my American bank can remit or send the funds to a Japanese bank.

I know it's a lot to ask, but I was hoping there's someone here who has a Japanese bank account and can send the funds for me. I would PayPal this person the money first.

They would have the money from me before completing the transaction to Friendshill, so there would be no risk to them. I'd be happy to pay someone for their time for this. I would hope it would be an easy and quick process. Is there anyone here who might be able to help me?

If it means anything, I have Platinum buyer/seller feedback (100% positive) in this Buy/Sell/Trade thread and I could send my eBay positive feedback profile to you, too.

Thanks for reading this and considering assisting me. Happy holidays, all.

If you cannot find anyone to do this, I use Xoom to send money from my U.S. bank account to my partner's Canadian bank account. You can send directly to a bank as long as you have the account number, etc. I'd assume that would work?

Most US banks can wire funds. You may have to visit a branch to do it if it's not available on your online banking. The issue would be the fee $40+, and calculating the fx rate.

Wise is another company Japanese companies like to use for cross country transfers, I've used them to pay suppliers in China and Japan and they offer really good exchange rates + are very quick to process the transfer. Japanese banks charge crazy fees for international transfers and it can vary as they said. Also they don't seem to be accounting for the shipping cost (unless its in the item cost in which case you got a good deal).
I'd also make sure they're sending via courier(fedex/dhl/ups), ems or airmail or it won't arrive in time. Some of these shipping methods might not be available as they've been ymmv with availability depending on country since March 2020(covid panic started).

Just use a proxy like zenmarket if you're not in a rush in the future. If you want it processed fast I'd recommend the proxy vvjapan .

I really appreciate all of this info. They are sending via EMS. It looks like Wise is dirt cheap. Am I understanding correctly that they just make a wire transfer for you and charge these super low fees compared to banks? It's showing me like $3 in fees for sending like $41 USD. Are there fees to the end user too?

All prices include shipping within the continental U.S. I'm happy to ship outside that area, so feel free to DM me and we can work out shipping.

Looking for PayPal (F&F or you pay the fees) or Zelle. I would also consider Steam/Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo gift cards. If you happen to have a Nomad, Virtual Boy, or Turbo/GT Express in decent condition for trade (+ cash), I'd consider those too!

So the $3 fee is all they will charge you AND they'll give you a better rate than your bank would(unless your banks giving you the interbank rate which most don't).
The reciever won't be charged any fees by wise themselves but by the recipients bank , which again it varies depending on their bank, they seem to be charging 2000 jpy which is kind of excessive for a transfer within japan(which is why wise is good as they send the money using a local bank account) but i guess they know best.

If you were to send it via your own US bank they'd get hit with a much higher transmittance fee (I've had it be 4000-8000 jpy I can't remember exactly because I've only done it like twice over the past 7 years).

I also just checked and amazon.co.jp stock that brand, so you may be able to order from there if amazon JP or amazon fulfilled seller selling it on there. Amazon JP is by far the easiest(and a lot of the time cheaper, for me in the UK atleast) way to order items from Japan.
EDIT- That particular bag is currently out of stock it seems(unless its not a tote bag?).

Amazon.co.jp: Friends Hill Character Animal Inner Pocket Gusset Mini Tote Fumifumi Chibikko Pink 20 x 30 x 1 cm : Home & Kitchen

Amazon.co.jp: Friends Hill Character Animal Inner Pocket Gusset Mini Tote Fumifumi Chibikko Pink 20 x 30 x 1 cm : Home & Kitchen

Transferring money within/to Japan is all also unnecesarily expensive, so again in the future just use a proxy for a simpler transaction, they charge like 1000 JPY total in fees to order+pack the item. I'm only saying this because if somebody else is following this, it looks like its a pain to order stuff from japan when it really isn't.

Btw, sorry if this doesn't read well, I'm ill atm.

You know about the 150 post rule, but think it's okay to ignore it? If everyone did that, the thread would be a clusterfuck.

It's an extra key that I got and I'm not a big fan of sitting on digital keys for an extended period of time. Plus I already sold two on here & I want to give people the chance to get a good deal on a game I'm not interested in since it's the holidays.

Then edit your listing, and wait for 150 posts to pass.

You have a key, and you want to make a few bucks. Most people in here do.

Don't play good samaritan.

FS: Nintendo Switch OLED - White - $385 SHIPPED (pictures coming)

The above price is simply what I paid including California sales tax. I've used the console exactly two times and I decided it's something I don't need (I already own the Lite and don't use it much as it is). My wife's cousin was planning to buy it from me but she recently decided she didn't want it. The console is in PRISTINE condition and includes all original packaging (plastic, cardboard, manuals, etc.).
