THE MISSION BEGINS
The single-player experience of Black Ops Cold War is the direct sequel to the original Black Ops Campaign and features a mind-bending narrative that includes the return of Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and Jason Hudson. Along with playing as Mason, you'll create your own operative and join a CIA-led task force in finding a global threat called "Perseus," a Soviet agent that is set to shift the balance of the Cold War after decades of dormancy.

Missions within the Campaign include a variety of differing playstyles, such as close quarter, stealth, all-out warfare, and long-range combat scenarios. There are also multiple difficulty options, which fit a wide scope of players from those new to the franchise (Recruit) to seasoned experts (Veteran) and hardcore players (Realism).

MEET THE TEAM
Russell Adler

Russell Adler is a mystery, even to those who have worked by his side for years. His history before joining the CIA in 1966 is known only to a few within Langley. His deep knowledge of tactics, fluency in Russian and German, and mastery of espionage make him one of the key operatives that the CIA can consistently rely upon.

Frank Woods
Frank Woods ran away from home as a young kid, never to return. Enlisting in the Marines, Woods saw action in the Korean War, and afterwards became a sergeant in the MACV-SOG during the Vietnam War. In 1981 Woods was requested by Russell Adler to join his small team in a mission to stop an impending attack by the Soviet agent Perseus.

Alex Mason
Alex Mason was a US Marine that stood out for his exceptional marksmanship during his tour of duty in South Korea. his talents pulled him into the dangerous world of the CIA's Special Activities Division. After falling into enemy hands during the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba, Mason was subjected to experimental mind control techniques which left him lingering with trauma. He continues to rely on his black ops partner, Frank Woods, to be his anchor to reality.

This co-op experience features you and up to three other Operators fending off legions of undead horrors as agents of Requiem, a CIA-backed international response team led by Grigori Weaver tasked at investigating and suppressing supernatural anomalies around the world.

While coming face-to-face with the rival Omega Group, a Soviet-led organization looking to research and potentially harness these anomalies for themselves, Requiem agents will use upgradeable Perks and an arsenal of Cold War-era weaponry against waves of the undead, as well as uncover decades-old secrets that could upend the global order.

This is also where you can play the latest Dead Ops Arcade game, the third installment of the Black Ops series' co-op top-down arcade shooter! Jump into a match from the Zombies menu with your team and survive as long as possible through challenging new arenas, open world spaces, bonus areas, and randomly generated dungeons.

WARZONE
From the Black Ops Cold War menu, you can be taken straight to Call of Duty: Warzone™ through this option. This free-to-play, massive combat experience takes place in the dense, sprawling world of Verdansk, where one can expect non-stop action at over 300 points of interest in lobbies that span up to 150 players. At launch, you can expect to find your Black Ops Cold War Operators here, with weapons and a brand-new experience to come at the start of Season One. Note: a separate installation is required to play Warzone.

I have a love-hate relationship with CoD games. But I really enjoyed the beta, and I think this will be a game I will be playing a lot on Series X this weekend.

I'm looking forward to this. I had a bit of love/hate with Black Ops IIII, but overall the sub series has been great.

I played the beta, I'm curious if I will adapt to the slower speed of MP vs MW, but I am ready!

I haven't played a Call of Duty in 7 years, so I was thinking about jumping in with this one on PS5. When do the reviews drop?

Great OT.

Just to make sure I'm reading right: if I want to future-proof myself on Xbox so that I can play on my One X now and have the Series X|S version for later, I need to just buy the crossgen bundle now, right? I can't buy the current-gen version now and just pay the difference to upgrade later?

Other than the technical issues, I legit enjoyed the fuck out of the beta.

- excellent TTK
- Yes, I actually enjoyed the maps

Love the 80s and can't wait for this. As an added bonus, I'm about to wrap up Season 1 of The Americans. Check it out, awesome show :)

Thanks for the OT!
Preordered the Cross-Gen Ultimate version. Liked the beta from what I played. I sold off my base PS4 this week, so I'm very excited to play this next week when PS5 finally releases in EU.

Legitimately excited for Cold War MP.

MW MP has great gun play and is one of the most fully featured COD MP's ever, but good god does it have some of the worst maps in cod history.

I loved satellite, Miami and cartel from the beta a lot. The changes from the alpha to beta were massive, so I'm curious at the differences from beta to launch.

I am also excited for another trippy black ops campaign! Really glad Raven got to finally show us what they can do! Can't wait for 9pm tonight.

I enjoyed everything else about the beta but the maps, so I'm at least waiting to hear how the rest of the maps are. Will probably get this on the 24th when Nuketown hits.

do you still need a dedicated cod hard drive to be able to install more than one game on your console
i've been kinda interested in this but i am hesitant for multiple reasons
think i will hold out for a bit but i am keeping an eye on this to see how it turns out

Watching some Zombies and I think it looks really good, they've really given some attention to the casual crowd which was well needed, one complaint you could hear a lot during BO3 and BO4 is that it was too story focused for the hardcore fans of that and not enough on the casuals who just wanna play a few rounds who have fun. 1 map is a shame though, hopefully the rumored Vietnam map isn't too far off.

Is there a way to upgrade to the cross-gen edition on Xbox One right now or do I have to wait? Bought the standard digital, but want Series X support.

weird question I peordered the game from my series x on launch day for £59.99 have I bought the last gen version or the next gen version?
I would assume its the next gen version since it was from the store on the series x but i'm a bit confused after reading the op.

It's only the Xbox One version. I did the same thing last night thinking it was the next-gen game.

Apparently switching your region to AUS/NZ on Xbox allows you to start playing now.

If I do that, can I switch back to UK, like tomorrow? Or is there a cooldown period?

You can change your region anytime without any restriction. I've done it before for a ton of games.

Yes. There's no option to upgrade from current gen to next gen later like there is on PS. You need to either buy the cross-gen bundle digitally or buy the Series X version physically to be able to play on both One and Series (natively)

Pre-loading on my PS4 to easily transfer on my PS5 (assuming the PS5 version works like that).

Gotcha. I'll go ahead and get the crossgen digital version. Thanks.
