Living in Cincinnati I get to burst the bubble of Barry Larkin fans who somehow didn't know he went to Michigan.
Canada was fucked from the start when Orgeron had him change everything about his offense and then shocker, it didn't go well. His offense relies on a ton of motions and formations, Orgeron didn't want that.Yeah if that dude went almost anywhere other than LSU I'd be concerned. Poor guy is gonna get wrecked.
I don't think it was just QB play that hurt LSU, it was that whole Offense, isn't that why the got rid of Canada? Ensminger isn't someone who strikes fear in me as an OC either. Burrow should've gone to UC

Midway through the season Coach O told him to stop and simplify the offense. Everyone knew Canada was going to leave one way or the other.I feel like LSU's offense featured a ton of that last year. Am I remembering that wrong?

It was several games before. You probably saw some shifts in the game with Bama but not nearly as much as he wants to do.
FWIW, I never thought he was super great. He had one good season with a great RB at Pitt and he was suddenly an OC in huge demand.

Beatty on the other hand needed more than 1 win this season otherwise he was out. Now he's out unless he makes a bowl.
They paid Weis for 5. Does that count?Since Mangino was let go, I don't think Kansas has been able to keep a coach for more than 3 years. Certainly not 4.
That's like the safest 2-1 schedule. 0-9 is pretty likely in conference play, with their only real shot at a win is if Tech fires Kingsbury before that game.I read he's out if he doesn't start 2-1. @CMU, Buttgers, and Nicholls State.
Doable but it's Kansas so they'll win 0.
BREAKING: Jim Connor, who spent the past several years playing football fanatic Larry Culpepper in Dr. Pepper commercials, has told me that the company will not feature Culpepper in commercials going forward. Connor says the decision "Rocked my world" and was "An incredible gig." pic.twitter.com/an0DJBKO0w

Florida
@Georgia
@Auburn (Bye week before this game)
Bama
@South Carolina
Kentucky
Missouri
@Vanderbilt
This is an interesting question via a site who got it from SECRant. Not sure if I want to link to the original cesspool or not.
Who is the first team below to lose to Tennessee?
Honestly you could really make a strong argument they lose to all those teams, and yet I could see them beating UF in an ugly game or even USCe.This is an interesting question via a site who got it from SECRant. Not sure if I want to link to the original cesspool or not.

My vote is that their first conference win is Kentucky, though I think Sakerlina is a toss up.

Alabama is -28.5 against Louisville in the season opener. I think they'll cover it.
It opened at 21 or 24, I forget, and quickly moved.Alabama is -28.5 against Louisville in the season opener. I think they'll cover it.

Florida/USF have scheduled a 2 for 1.
The buyout is something ridiculous like $2.5 million per game so this one is happening.
Conference Champs with 8-game league schedule:
• 10 out of 10 made Playoff
Conference Champs with 9-game league schedule:
• 4 out of 10 made Playoff
Simply put, the 9-game slate significantly HURTS Playoff chances.

This is super cool. Hope both Mullen and Strong are still here for it.
Also water wet, sun hot, etc.
Well, adding an extra X/2 (where X is # of teams in the conference) losses to your conference's overall record every year will make things appear to be "down" relative to conferences that don't.Like, the P12 is down, so of course they aren't going to send their champ every year. Same goes for the parity fest that is the Big 12.
Shit Jalen will be in by the end of the First Qtr cause Tua is gonna put up 28
I do think that also has to do with the quality of the leagues though. Like, the P12 is down, so of course they aren't going to send their champ every year. Same goes for the parity fest that is the Big 12.
Yes and sort of yes. Also water wet, sun hot, etc.

Larry Culpepper, the former concession vendor and self-proclaimed inventor of the College Football Playoff, is getting a second chance courtesy of Nick Saban.
Typically reserved for coaching staff, Saban's wildly successful coaching rehabilitation program is making an exception for the recently unemployed Culpepper. According to sources close to the program, Culpepper will serve as the Crimson Tide's assistant hydration consultant and share a room with intern analyst Butch Jones.
Treatment coordinator Lauren Harris said Culpepper will undergo a standard orientation program before he is allowed onto the field or contact with any of the players. He is also required to assist Butch Jones with his daily routine of washing and waxing Nick Saban's vehicle.
"First and foremost, Larry will not be allowed to serve Dr. Pepper or any other beverage that isn't water or Gatorade to our students and staff. That's actually not a new rule. We had to put that in place when Kiffin was here," explained Harris. "Larry will also be required to take a vow of silence because he is incredibly annoying."

Pretty much.
The 9 game schedule has something to do with it, but claiming that's the sole (or even main) reason the B12 and P12 are perceived as down is disingenuous. There are multiple factors at play.
Niggas all still need to be on the 9 game schedule though.
Would there be more "deserving" teams if they didn't have to play an extra conference game though? That's the problem.Sure, but looking at the advanced stats, the P12 is the weakest Power conference. The two P12 champs that deserved bids (2014 Oregon, 2016 Washington) received them.
I don't really care whether it's 8 or 9 as long as everyone plays the same number.I don't love the 9 game schedule, as I subscribe to the Bill Connelly school of more noncon games for more interconnectivity. It makes the numbers more fun.
Ideally though instead of another cupcake, Power teams would play 2 Power schools (possibly a higher tier G5), 1 lower tier G5, 1 FCS. But this would involve schools not scheduling so far in advance.

Agreed.
Eh, if USC beats a mid-level B1G team instead of playing Wazzu they have a pretty strong case.I mean, the two years the P12 champ didn't get in they weren't deserving, no matter if they had 8 or 9 conference games.
2015 Stanford- lost to Northwestern OOC and lost to Oregon who they would play in an 8 game set-up.
2017 USC- spanked by ND OOC and lost to Wazzu, who they might not play in an 8 game set-up
I only want this bc of how stupid the Sec does it.
It's a mess is what it is.
Spoken as a nigga with shoulder-length dreads.
I mean dreds are fine, and so is short hair, but this is literally business in the front and party in the back.
This aggression will not stand, man.
One coach who faced Tennessee during Butch Jones' time as the Volunteers' football coach thinks Jones did a "complete horse (bleep) job."
The comment was revealed in the annual Southeastern Conference football preview magazine produced by Lindy's that hit newsstands Tuesday.
The shortcomings that derailed Jones' tenure as Tennessee's football coach have been well-documented and dissected, but the remarks from the anonymous coach published in the magazine are particularly scathing toward Jones, who is now an intern at Alabama.
The anonymous coach was also harsh on Tennessee's roster.
" And I don't think they have very good players," the anonymous coach said, according to Lindy's. "Tennessee is supposed to have talent. I think South Carolina has better talent than Tennessee, and that should never happen."
Jones was fired last November after Tennessee lost at Missouri and fell to 4-6. The Volunteers finished the year 4-8 for the first eight-loss season in program history, despite having done well in recruiting rankings during Jones' tenure.
"To say Tennessee has had top 15 classes under Butch Jones, that's fake news," the anonymous opposing coach told Lindy's. "I think it was a combination of the classes being overrated and the coaches not developing the talent."
