Why do people assume he's gonna voice Mario for the games?
The thing is, they could always just use archive recordings of Charles' voice for a lot of Mario's standard cries and noises - "WAH!" and "WAHOO!" don't exactly need to be re-recorded every single time a new game comes out. They have probably HOURS worth of soundbank recordings of Charles doing Mario vocalizations, so if they're giving all that up, there has to be a reason for it.
why would he be fired?sounds to me like he was fired but they let him do cons as Mario tbh.

Nintendo always records new contextual dialogue for their mainline Mario entries. Not only that, but Martinet also voices characters like Wario, who as of WarioWare Gold has moved onto becoming a fully voiced character. idk, there could be lots of reasons.
it sounds like he was based on the statement and no word from him saying he retired or something like that. just speculation on my part.
Nintendo, hire this man.
Well now I want to see the face of everyone who said that it was Martinet on the Wonder trailer lol
What if they want Mario to just straight up talk now? 🤔The thing is, they could always just use archive recordings of Charles' voice for a lot of Mario's standard cries and noises - "WAH!" and "WAHOO!" don't exactly need to be re-recorded every single time a new game comes out. It still sounds like he was demoted or something. It could be that Martinet himself wanted this or atleast was okay with it, due to age or whatever... but personally I get the feeling from the message that it is Nintendo pushing him aside.
You can record VO from anywhere in the world, very easily. The industry is built around remote recordings.I think the factor of the recast is the fact that Charles Martinet is living in Holland now
It's going to be an AI voice. Charles sold the rights to his voice to Nintendo to use until the end of time!
