Every time I see Crytek still alive I'm surprised after all these stories about them closing several studios and not paying their workers for month.
And now this? Okay... I guess

So I get paid to play? Or is it just an alternative form of Trophy XP/Gamerscore?

The way i understand it, it's basically like achievements or Daily challenges that reward you with their cryptocurreny that you can use to buy things.
Like Bitcoin mining but instead of letting PC's waste energy, the mining is done by players finishing those achievements/Challenges.

Experts for cryptocurrency might have a better insight on that tho

Less a developer, more of a crime syndicate at this point.

Any of the Gizmondo dudes working over there?

There was also those other gaming cryptocurrency coming out as well like Gamecredits, Nexium and Bitcrystals. People are trying to ride along the train of cryptocurrencies, without realizing Bitcoin is an anomaly.

CryCash?

I'm sure they could've come up with a MUCH better name.
Like CashTek for example.
Literally anything but that.

There is so much oppurtunity for a pun considering the endless liquidity problems Crytek has with this whole "paying their employees" thing. It's not going so well...

Of all the broke ass companies to come up with a form of new money called CryCash

The truth is stranger than fiction

We all laugh at this today, but in year 2022 there will be people be like: OMG I found my old Crytek account and bought a new car for it!

It is trash, it is like 99% of other "internet" currencies today which come and go

I'm surprised it's taken this long for a game developer to try running an initial coin offering, and I'm unsurprised that it's Crytek that's trying this.

The sheer number of ICOs out there should be a big, red flag to anyone who think any of them will make them money. You'll be better off spending your money at a casino, at least there is a non-zero chance of you getting some of your money back.

I wonder how long before they start to pay their employees with this.

They've been crying so much over (lack of) cash, this scheme was a no brainer.
So sad to see what has become of our most well known German AAA game studio.
