Congrats and enjoy!I did it! I beat Dark Souls 1! :D
[...and I just bought Dark Souls 3 on Steam :P]
What a game.
It's in the Catacombs, not the Tomb of the Giants (the dark place). It's an ordinary weapon, nothing "unique", but it's a great dex weapon.
Other notable loot in the Catacombs/Tomb: the white titanite slab, the paladin armour (if you defeated Paladin Leeroy as an invader, his armour will appear in Nito's room after you defeat the boss, but you may need to reload to get it to appear), Tranquil Walk of Peace miracle, and rescuing Reah and buying all her miracles (if you're faith or care about trophies) from her when she relocates to Undead Parish, near the Firekeeper Soul.
What soul and weapon lvl are you?man, camped out in Darkroot Garden area for a while. Just lay out a summon sign just inside the door that you go through to get to Sif and it is easy farm. You can kill the NPCs there for a quick 8k (assuming you CAN kill them). Otherwise you get summoned for PVP which is 3k-8k per kill depending on levels. And if you help someone kill Sif it's 20k.
I was there an hour or so and have over 500k in souls (granted it was a LOT of pvp in there).
Just a really busy area.... at least was over the last weekend.
Well there were two things that were surprising to me: I expected him to be huge, and he wasn't. He was just a dude with a sweet sword. And I didn't expect my weapon to just melt through him like it did -- I had an Iaito +15 with Dex at 40 and it took, like, 10-12 hits to kill him? I did have Solaire, so Gwyn was mostly distracted by him while I just sliced away, but the whole fight was over in less than a minute. The first time I hit him and I noticed how much health it took off, I assumed there would be a second form or something, but nope... Just kept slicing and soon the credits rolled
Question about one of the bosses in DS2 and its relationship with DS1, I'll put it in spoiler just in case:
Is the Old Dragonslayer you fight in Cathedral of Blue Ornstein from DS1, or a different Dragonslayer?

Heides tower is the place where the gods of anor londo arrived in that continent bringing anor londo culture with them.
And the OD was probably part of ornstein hunt group and trained Drangelic dragon raiders before the fall of Vendrik
Other simple answer could be both O&S were illusions on DS1 but getting their souls dont make sense becauseSmoug survived the figh and was aluve until dark siuls 3
Kalameet is kicking my ass. Even got lucky enough to find a summon for him but the bastard knocked me down then one-hit KO'd me with his overly-long magic breath. Fuck I hate this dragon.
That's kind of assuming one of the fan theories that;
Ornstein was an illusion, and Smough inevitably became Aldrich, the Devourer of Gods. Unless there's some concrete lore I'm forgetting. Ornstein we know was a member of the Dragon Knights that Gwyn created, so it's possible OD was just another member of that group--which Ornstein was an illusion of.
I'm a firm believer he's the hardest boss in the game. He has a lot of moves and he deals a lot of damage and the breath attack you mentioned is hard to deal with.
Were are you placing your summon sign? I get summoned for Kalameet all the time if I place my sign near the Artorias Fog gate.
Heh, sorry, I mean, where are you looking for summon signs. Try looking for signs near the Artorias gate. The things is that by the time people reach the Kalameet fog gate they probably already have one or two phantoms with them so that's why they tend to place them there.
When's the best time to do the DLC? Right before the final boss? I just killed Ornstein and Smough. I think I'm overleveled already.
Wait, I thought you can't even access the DLC without getting the special pendant item from the Duke's Archives?
Dark Souls: Prepare to CryI have to say, the ending of this game was surprisingly....moving.
You roll in preparing for this epic final fight with Gwyn, who you're imagining is this awesome and titanic behemoth like the other bosses (especially after meeting his daughter). But it's just Gwyn. He's just a man, not much bigger than you and no better geared, and his flaming sword is striking but nothing special. For the first time, you don't get an epic or horrifying chanting track to accompany the boss fight, but out of nowhere a sad piano theme. You see the Kiln, and when you look into his eyes you realize they aren't even there – he's a Hollow, a sad and miserable being that shouldn't be alive, just like you. Waiting so long, for centuries, for someone to relieve him. You fight a somber battle of equals that feels almost purposeless and ends much too quickly; the proud Lord of Cinder, King of All and Savior of Mankind is reduced to a husk, and dies with a whimper.
Then, you finally follow in his footsteps, relight the flame, and burn yourself out of your own unnatural existence. It's a game where you accomplish your task...by dying. I can think of only a few other games where that happens, and it's just as bittersweet there as it is here. Then the credits roll, and another beautifully sad melody drives it home. You've saved the whole world against all odds, and your long journey is at an end. The light has returned thanks to your ultimate sacrifice. Rest in peace, weary undead.
Definitely a surprise after a game that just felt oppressive and cruel for its entire runtime, with only a few respites (deliberately so, of course). Perhaps I was meant to feel for the characters I met living in this dying world the whole time, but I was too busy feeling a primordial and self-interested survival instinct...until they got me at the very end.

That's just good strategy, not cheesing.NG+ Nito is fucking impossible. Goddamn.
EDIT: Got him. Had to cheese him with a Divine Weapon to kill the skeletons and then he's no problem.
You don't meet Patches until after Pinwheel down in the Tomb. And you will come across the guy who was next to the bonfire somewhere else now.So i was down in the catacombs and i think Patches was supposed to be there but he didnt show up by the lever next to hidden bonfire. Did i miss talking to him somehwere before then?
Also i went to firelink after beating Pinwheel and the guy who has been sitting next to the bonfire since i arrived there is now gone? what would have made him leave?
Frampt's bad breath. I'm not even kidding. I talked to him sometime after tolling the second bell of awakening and he complained about Frampt — and his smell. Inspired by my success with the bells, he left to take matters into his own hands. Next time I got back to Firelink (which was way before I killed Pinwheel, curiously) he was gone. Also i went to firelink after beating Pinwheel and the guy who has been sitting next to the bonfire since i arrived there is now gone? what would have made him leave?
That always bothered me, actually. He leaves in a huff, more determined than ever to do *something*. But the next time you meet him, he's standing near the first bridge in New Londo, hollowed. I thought determination is what keeps a person from hollowing in Dark Souls? I keep wondering if I missed something, because otherwise I can't explain why he only took the elevator down, walked to the bridge and apparently lost all hope. It was so anticlimactic.
I had the same problem, I summoned Solaire in DS1 for that, but DS2 I brute forced it. Smaller health pools I think. Thanks for the information regarding O&S and OD, didn't know most of that stuff. I should really try to find a good recap of DS1 lore/story, any suggestions?
In other news, it's funny how (DS2 boss spoiler?)
I struggled so much to beat the two gargoyles in DS1 and I managed to kill the 5 Belfry gargoyles in just a couple of tries. Really intense fight though

Lvl 100, having trouble getting summoned. What are the best places for me to try?
The Duke's Archives bonfire is usually pretty active at that level.Lvl 100, having trouble getting summoned. What are the best places for me to try?
