But the proof of the pudding is once again in the tasting, and as a technological achievement, Wolfenstein 2 on Switch is even more miraculous than its predecessor.
On top of that, it seems it also uses a reconstruction tech.It sometimes goes to 360p?
I understand that everybody wants all the games on Switch, but dayum. (and I don't blame the developers, I'm sure they've done their best).
Then why did you make it in the first place?
Not everyone has time to go thorugh them and would rather get a quick summary so they know exactly how the game performs.
I play Doom on Switch (docked and not my Switch, I don't own the console so I cannot judge other games much) and it was absolutely dreadful, I would say in some areas borderline unplayable.
I don't know it might be impressive as a proof of concept, that it can be done, but that blurriness is insane. 640x360 that's like Gamecube era. I get it, it's an achievement, for this hardware, but is it really worthwhile to play on that platform. A lot of people tend to just read the summaries in the OP and then make drive-bys based on those comments, if you have to read the article or watch the video at least DF and Eurogamer benefit a bit from it.
My eyes literally could not handle DOOM in portable mode. The strain was too severe. Docked mode was just fine. Anyone saying docked mode is at any point unplayable is exaggerating immensely. The point of these ports is really to play them in portable mode. There's no reason to play DOOM or Wolfenstein 2 in docked mode if you have access to any other platform capable of running it. In portable mode, however, it's an entirely different story.
It's an impressive technical showcase for Switch. Personally I don't understand why anyone would get this version if they're going to be playing on TV. If you like these kinds of games, chances are you'll already own one of the other consoles or PC. But as a handheld game, well that's a different factor.Ultimately, Wolfenstein 2 may not be anything like the best version of the game, but that doesn't mean it's not worthwhile. It's content complete and it still looks great in most scenes, even if it is rather blurry. In common with a fair few Switch titles, the experience doesn't fully hold up when playing docked on a living room TV, but this is by far and away the most impressive handheld first-person shooter we've seen.

These are more clinical curiosities honestly at this point. I'm more fascinated by "wow it's real crazy to see this running on a Switch" than really thinking "boy, this is the way I wanna play this game..."I don't know it might be impressive as a proof of concept, that it can be done, but that blurriness is insane. 640x360 that's like Gamecube era. I put some relevant parts of the article in the OP then, is that better?
In all this time you are complaining withn your posts you could have read the article.
Panic Button are Switch expert at this point, it's really surprising what they can do with it.

Came in here expecting people to focus on the lowest resolution and all the negatives...guess I wasn't disappointed.
Everyone is just completely ignoring that John says it's the best looking handheld FPS out there.
Why wouldn't I want to play on TV? Let's think.. because I could play it on my Pro or X instead at twice the framerate and a high resolution? So that leaves handheld.. but I have no desire to play games like this handheld as I much prefer indie games when taking my Switch on the go as they're better suited. Yeah at have different opinions and equally I'm baffled you can't understand why someone might feel differently to you.Why wouldnt I play on a TV? It looks way better on a TV and I can play on the big screen. The appeal for me is that I can take it to portable mode when the TV is not available to me anymore, or when I go to bed or something. Its really not that difficult to understand. It really baffles me that people still use these silly argumants that these games arent worth buying on Switch.

Ohh, my bad I though that PS2/Xbox OG era was cleaner, thanks for the info.
Well that's more or less what I wanted to say in my post. And by the way, the game is going to be full-priced? It's not up in here, but in here 1 2 Switch cost ~50 USD, so it's probably not the best indicator for the rest of the world. These are more clinical curiosities honestly at this point. That's not quite the same. It doesn't adjust based on load - it's hard coded so that resolutions vary per scene. That's what makes it so annoying to capture today.Exactly what I was expecting and what every Switch DF thread seems to boil down to, unfortunately.
That Butcher Bay fact at the end was really interesting! I had no idea about it, but Dark1x , apparently RE2 on N64 also used dynamic resolution if you had the expansion pak, it would change between 480i and 240p depending on what screen you were on.
Click bait."impossible ports" why does DF think they need to pull out that nonsense?
