It's been several months since the developers for Dragon Ball FighterZ & we should be expecting more news at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2023 this March. But while rollback netcode was confirmed for current-gen systems & PC, nothing was said about cross-play. And it's not like Arc System Works doesn't have the feature working on other games, as Guilty Gear Strive recently got the feature (& just did testing for cross-play including Xbox this past weekend) and will include the option for Granblue Versus Rising later this year. But the question for this thread is this: Will DBFZ get cross-play? If so, will it be current-gen only or will there also be a second pool of players who can only do delay-based netcode?

It would be kinda dumb to add Rollback and not adding cross-play too, especially since they know how to handle it. So i voted yes but... yeah, might not happen as well lol

The simpler solution would be to have crossplay only for the systems with rollback, by far. And I do wish it would get crossplay, yes.

They'd probably benefit from it the most in terms of capitalizing on the improved netcode. And as I've mentioned regarding Tekken 8, it'll prevent Xbox Series X|S from being nothing but tumbleweeds for matchmaking.

It would be really dumb for them to not add crossplay, which is why I can guarantee they won't add crossplay at all. It's Namco, if they can take the dumb route they will.

Feelin pessimistic on this one with crossplay, sadly.

I know ArcSys has got the know-how but I also know that they aren't fully holding the reigns with DBFZ so I don't quite know if their partnership with the license holder of DB has really considered it, and even if there was an internal push, I often get the feeling that this kind of partner-project setup has left to many good ideas just being ignored -- at no fault of ArcSys.

Is there a reason last gen isn't getting rollback? I can't see those systems getting crossplay if they can't even get that, and Namco's track record with this makes me feel crossplay isn't going to be there at all.

Probably won't happen since it took this long to rollback and even that isn't even out yet

I expect the bare minimum for a game that's on its way out, so no crossplay, only rollback.
They'll add crossplay in a sort of sequel a la GBFV Rising.

DBFZ is seemingly going the brute-force route via the current-gen systems' more powerful CPUs, & there's not enough extra CPU headroom for last-gen (let alone Switch) to add in rollback after the fact. They'd have to remake the game entirely like Granblue Versus is doing to add rollback for the other systems.

If it hasn't been said, I don't believe in it.
We've had multiple crossplay/rollback announcements and DBFZ only announced rollback. That's where I'm at.

It's still a miracle we're getting it after the support to the game appeared to end. I don't know what they'll announce in March but I don't see them going for another season or more content.
To be fair, the only exciting thing for me they could announce is a sequel and I don't know if we will get it soon or at all.

Dragon Ball FighterZ 2?
A FighterZ 2 or a One Piece vs DBZ game like they did on 3DS would be awesome.
But considering the companies involved, it's seeming unlikely. Guess we'll see after the LCQ/Battle Hour. If it were any other companies involved, I'd say a sequel would be guaranteed but with Namco + Shueisha, it's real iffy lol
