Doctre81 (I think he's on Era) has been digging on LinkedIn again and has discovered a linkedin entry from a Retro Studios employee who's responsibilities include:

- Combine HLSL Houdini, Game Editor Scripting, amd C++ Coding to create Complex Visuals
- Author HDAs to procedurally generate Data-encoded Models and Textures, FlowMap simulations etc
- Interactive Environment Effects, Rain, Steam, Lava, Shot Reactions, Visor Effects etc
- Collaborate across Disciplines to make sure game-world comes to life with details and flourishes (I hope Players notice)
- Specialise in authoring Energy Based Visuals: Holograms, Force Fields, Projections, Sci-fi glass etc
- Optimise content to help projects maintain 60hz on Nintendo Hardware

GAMES:

- Metroid Prime Remastered (Switch)
- Metroid Prime 4 (Switch)

I think we can put any fears of a 30fps Metroid Prime 4 to rest.

I personally don't feel that way. It could easily be referring to Metroid Prime Remastered along with Metroid Prime 2 & 3 ports/remasters (Retro surely prototyped them, whether they end up being full projects or not). Or anything else Retro is doing that we don't know about.

I hope Prime 4 is 60fps, of course, but this doesn't feel like confirmation to me.

Regardless, nice find.

60 fps is a big part of why the Prime games felt as good to play as they did. Not going for that would be a big mistake imo.

Right above Metroid Prime he lists Metroid Prime Remastered, which was 60Hz on Nintendo hardware.

How do we know that this is referring specifically to MP4?

"Nintendo hardware" could mean 60fps for switch 2, but it's nice to see it'll be a thing

It says projects, so unless there's a third hidden game prime 4 will be (targeting) 60fps in some form

60 fps is one of the things that made the Prime games and the remaster of 1 shows they do care about keeping that (unlike other remasters such as TTYD where Nintendo doesn't care)

I mean i dont think they would have dropped the Remaster on Switch only to have Prime 4 playing with 30fps.
ALways expected Prime 4 to look pretty much like Remastered of Prime 1 looks, but now its probably be even more than that.

That could certainly be a stated responsibility and they may have spent significant time towards it but that doesn't necessarily mean that they succeeded.

60 fps are a Metroid Prime staple. I'm cringing HARD at the disbelief and cinism here.

Shocked to see a hardcore gaming community swallowing the "Switch outright can't do 60fps" pill so easily.

Well, maybe not that shocked.

I mean

Every single Metroid Prime game runs at 60 FPS. Even Hunters on the DS. Why would this one be the first Prime game to run at 30. lol

60fps on Switch 1 & Switch 2 confirmed! Them "projects" need to hit 60 hz on [all] Nintendo hardware.

I thought this guy was banned here and on famiboards for targeted dev harassment in a recent video.

Also

"Optimise content to help projects maintain 60hz on Nintendo Hardware"

This is just corpo speak for "I helped to optimise at least one of my projects to ensure it hit 60fps" which we already know is the case for MP1 Remastered. It doesn't also imply for certain that MP4 is going to run at a solid, well frame paced 60fps.

There's no way you can confidently make that kind of assertion from this statement unless you were being willingly obtuse.

Edit: For clarity, I fully believe Nintendo and Retro are working on getting MP4 to run at 60fps. I'm just saying you can't extrapolate that from the statement above.

Metroid Prime Remastered is working 60FPS on Switch so I wouldn't be surprised if they make Metroid Prime 4 60FPS too.

This says nothing. He could've helped on literally any Retro Studios project (or assisted another studio) on literally any Nintendo hardware current or previous, depending on his time of employment, to help get it to 60fps.

Unsubstantiated rumors asides, MP1 Remastered looked better than I expected.

If MP4 looks a bit better than that while keeping 60FPS, I'll be more than happy.

While I dont think this is much of an indication. It would very disappointing if MP4 isnt 60FPS. Thats my baseline expectation for the IP.

A banned creator with a questionable source for rumour and speculation means this is an easy lock.
