Praise was given to EA and Motive FAR too early in regards to this title and now In typical and traditional EA fashion of shafting consumers EA have abandoned the Dead Space Remake in its current state. Its current state suffers from Stuttering and LOD issues(DLSS), two issues that have been constantly given feedback about and complained about since release. A few updates were released and the issues were never addressed or resolved. You can watch DF's video for more info as the issues are outlined:

View: https://youtu.be/JpqAAOgUrCg

This is gross behavior this game got critical acclaim on release despite its flaws and I think due to this they felt it was safe to abandon. We had a number of threads on here saying how great EA and Motive are for outputting a game like this obviously only seeing it at a surface level. The stuttering issues are present on all platforms its not possible to NOT have them so save your "It was fine for me posts". As for the LOD issues they are tied to NVIDIA DLSS there is a work around however because the devs have selected the wrong value BUT it breaks the look of the menus when it is adjusted.

If you are charging full price for a remake fix the game.

Last update was released 27th of FEB and Steam Repos had been constantly updated during the period in which updates were worked on. This is no longer happening. All community communication has stopped since the 27th patch, before the patch there were posts nearly every day saying what they were working on and such and aknowledgement of issues this is no longer the case there is nothing more there it all went dark.

So... maybe I missed it in your post but, where's it confirmed no further updates are coming? Shit should be fixed, but its rare for it to get fixed instantly. Heck, River City Girls 2 launched running at the complete wrong frame rate for all platforms in December, and that still aint been fixed save for one Steam beta patch... (though its promised that the update is coming "soon").

This stuff can take time, its why Im loathed to play most games day 1 these days... But devs should at least confirm they are working on patches rather than just sweeping it under the rug and hoping that people stop caring.

Updates take time. Is two months too long to fix obvious issues? Probably yeah, but I would also argue they shouldn't have released the games in that state to begin with. Having said, it is pretty strong to say they have abandoned future updates.

They are probably doing a major patch to fix multiple issues across all platforms.

I'm not seeing anything to suggest they've ended support for the game:

As said above, sometimes these things take time.
Have they said outright that they are abandoning updates for the game?

Still waiting for some solid proof of what you're implying. Aka not some doomposting because steam repos haven't been updated for three weeks.

So last update was 3 weeks ago basically? Not too bad. It takes me three weeks to sometimes send an email.

it hasn't even been a full month and your complaining and assuming its abandoned because you looked at the repos? lol

So, three weeks—15 working days— without an update, and that counts as "abandoned"?

Holy shit I'm glad none of you know where I work and what software I work on, I'm already stressed enough as it is without that kind of pressure.

"It's been less than a month since anything happened and as such, game is abandoned"

Like give them shit for the state the game is in, sure, but saying it's been abandoned because their update schedule has recently not lined up with your expectations is straight up lying.

So, doomthinking speculation. Gotcha.
Well yeah, the last community manager message in regards to issues was about a month ago when the last patch dropped before then they were engaging the community in regards to issues. This has stopped as has the patches that were announced and quite quick.

Again ALL communication has gone dark since the last patch dropped literally nothing despite before that patch, posts every day in regards to fixes and acknowledging issues. No repo updates despite before this patch it was constantly being updated. Its just stopped. No communication nothing not "we are working on things" like they had it just all stopped.

Come on OP, this is ridiculous. There is absolutely no evidence backing up the claim in your thread title.

Maybe wait a bit before proclaiming that they are abandoning it? The game not long came out, and the last update being less than a month ago is not nearly enough evidence by itself.

You ever think communication is delayed because they're outside of the immediate marketing window and are tasked elsewhere while the development team is working on fixing the heavier issues, which might have far less entries because what they're trying to fix isn't marked as actually fixed and not worth it to mark a tally on a site the average person is never going to look at?

I get where OPs coming from. Steam repo updates are usually indicative that the game is being worked on behind the scenes. It's not just public releases this tracks but developer releases, so it's kinda suggests they haven't tested anything new on Steam since the last patch. It could mean they are focusing exclusively on consoles first and PC second or they are doing all their PC testing different (the last patches did show repo updates constantly while they were being developed).

On the flip side, I would absolutely believe EA wanted this to be a one and done deal. It's not a GAAS and they'll not want to blow money on it if they don't have to and the positive reception for Dead Space and positive feedback on Steam probs means some higher up wouldn't ask why can't they just cut and run.

So I'm saying I can see why OP sees red flags, it makes sense from EA's perspective to not provide more updates if they think it's good enough, but without anything official it might be nothing.

What an embarrassment of an OP.
How dare developers not communicate anything or not fixing everything in 15 working days!

OP, devs need to take breaks sometimes too. They're people, not machines. And it's only been a couple of weeks since the last update. I can't guarantee they will update it, but you can't also guarantee they won't. We'll have to wait and see before making things up.

Deeply rooted spaghetti code issues in the engine are not easily resolved. I wouldn't call it abandoned just yet, but I'm not at all sure it'll be fixed either.

I had a great time with the game, so it's unfortunate that it still has minor issues on PC (consoles have the same issue to a lesser extent). The hitches I experiences on PC were quite minor and happened in transitional areas. Gameplay was always very smooth overall. It would be great if the hitches weren't there, but they were not even close to being game breaking on my end.

Devs should just do better on PC overall.

EA being shit is a universal truth that never changes.

The most charitable interpretation is that they are bad at communicating and haven't given up. But I don't expect major updates in the foreseeable future anymore which is a damn shame.

It's been 3 weeks. Bloody hell. And over some minor graphical issues, that from the overwhelmingly positive steam reviews, evidently few people care about.

I'm still waiting on the No More Heroes patches that were promised in like October of last year.

So basically, you know nothing about how game development works. While planning meetings about the next update and initial dev work is ongoing, depots won't be touched, especially in large scale dev studios.

Studio devs don't decide when to start and stop working on a game when they have a publisher.

Lack of communication doesn't mean they've abandoned it. I'd be amazed if they've done that.
Why?
Games out. Got rave reviews. Sold well I assume. Currently very positive rating on Steam.

I'd be amazed if they spend months paying for a team to work on minor graphical glitches that bother a niche part of the market without any future paid for content or perceptible benefit to their sales numbers or reception. Would only earn Resetera credit, but maybe EA holds that in high regard.

Thread title should be less accusatory and definitive (same with the sentiments in the post). I get why this would seem concerning, though.

I bet all my money the traversal stuttering issues will never be fixed. It is likely an engine issue which is not easily fixed.

The games handling of VRAM should be adressed though.

Lmao

Community managers never win

It's either shut up until it's fixed or why aren't you talking have you abandoned the game

Always the negative road taken thought which is interesting

Maybe they did abandon it, but it's awfully premature to start posting shit like this.

OP, this isn't the Steam Community Discussions. Don't report your speculation as fact.

The stuttering is brutal, I waited for weeks in the hope that they'd fix it so I could start NG+ but they never did.
