Sounds nice. I keep emulating the same games, and same systems. But having them portable would be nice. Portable Shenmue? Yes please. Portable Guardian Heroes? :D
That is really embarrassing, anyone remember how the Gamecube was secured by a password that was something like Nintendo spelled backwards? :D
Yeah that's true, anything to do with touching the Switch OS can have pretty bad consequences.
I talking about the "eMMC board" thing, because I thought they were talking about physically removing it.
HomebrewRemember when the excuse to hack Wii U and 3DS was the region lock?
What's the excuse for Switch?
what? That is really embarrassing, anyone remember how the Gamecube was secured by a password that was something like Nintendo spelled backwards? :D
Reminds me of the psp days when all you needed to flash a psp was to open up your batter and cut a pin. I still have my magic memory card somewhereThe hardware is just a joke. You really just need to bend the joycon's 9th and 10th pins to touch.
Depends, Nintendo is both winning on the hardware for more sellthroughs, but long-term it's a loss because developers are now starting to lose faith in it. Developers who are pro-security and such.
Wait, I don't think that the payloads currently available are able to do that.Physically removing it is actually safer, since you are not damaging it. If you feel like you screwed up, you can pin it back in and be like "maybe some other time". If you corrupt and fuck up...that's GG.
Rushed to market? lolThe exploit kind of highlights how rushed to market this system was.
Wait, I don't think that the payloads currently available are able to do that.
Because if it works with the eMMC on or not, it's not doing anything to it.
You don't need to do anything with the eMMC if you short the pins, so I don't know why you're still talking like you have to remove or corrupt it.You need to make the eMMC not boot, is what I meant. The payloads are bypassing it either because you removed it or you corrupted it or you shifted the expected register. If you did the middle one, you've basically wiped your Switch.
Yeah, that's what I was saying. You don't need to do anything with the eMMC if you short the pins, so I don't know why you're still talking like you have to remove or corrupt it.
Certainly by the end of the year.
Well yeah it was rushed.
Well, homebrew literally destroyed PSP and DS software market in South Korea. So It's really dependent to the market maturelity. All Nintendo consoles have had homebrew, right? DS, Wii, and 3DS all had phenomenal software sales regardless.
This lets you download and play Nintendo games free, on your actual Switch? Or is it for homebrew? Sorry not an expert on this stuff
Or when the WiiU shared one of its private keys with the 3DS.That is really embarrassing, anyone remember how the Gamecube was secured by a password that was something like Nintendo spelled backwards? :D
They seem to get defensive when you say the quiet part out loud.
Does Labo come with a paperclip? Because that's all you essentially need.
Maybe it's all you'll get in the future! Rejoice! All I want is classic SNES/NES/Gameboy games. Fuck Nintendo for not having that shit there at launch, let alone a year later now.

Not just in Korea either.

PSP was destroyed by piracy.
Could a revision happen this year to "fix" this?Wow, that is one heck of a hardware oversight.
How long before we can expect a Switch hardware revision/upgrade?
While there are lots of piracy enabled consoles that survived and continued to thrive, it's kind of funny saying there is no correlation two posts below an article of a psp dev saying the piracy made the console uninteresting to work on.There is no correlation with consoles having piracy enabled and software sales. I mean PS2 has sold by far the most software of any console and it was easy as hell to play pirated games on it.
Not just in Korea either.

Does the T214 SoC close this exploit or is that not known yet?
Already happened, but as far as I know, there are still not on the shelves.Wow, that is one heck of a hardware oversight.

Lol dude is all your gonna do keep trying scaremongering and needlessly overcomplicating things when it comes to Switch hacks in every threadYou need to make the eMMC not boot, is what I meant. The payloads are bypassing it either because you removed it or you corrupted it or you shifted the expected register. If you did the middle one, you've basically wiped your Switch.

PSP had completely normal attach rate for handheld. Around 4.4 per system (more than original GameBoy and about the same as GBA).
Yeah, T214 will most likely patch that bug, and it's probably in circulation soon.
Already happened, but as far as I know, there are still not on the shelves.
