That's good to hear. I hope the rest of the games have new/better translations.
It's incredibly weird. Especially considering how much their new games will reference back to these old games in one way or another. Even FFVII, the one game in the series they regularly go back to for new games in the setting, got a really careless new port. No new script, tons of problems pasting the prerendered backgrounds in...
From what we saw in those tiny screens they'll have a unified look that's kinda like the original 4.

There is not a chance that we get free upgrades if we already bought these games right. I'm in for 1 and 2 on Steam. Don't think I'm going to buy the rest again. I'm so sick of buying them.
Yeah, the way they treat their biggest franchise's legacy is kinda baffling to me.
You can see an Onion Knight sprite in some of the screens. Just have to know if they're localizing or not. They probably are, but you never know.

That font is terrible and it seems like they unified the artstyles (but not to the standard of V or VI, more for something around IV)

Oh I'm sorry! Spreading misinformation. I'll edit the post. I scanned through the PSP version to what I thought was the right bit, but I must have missed it.
FF6 is probably being downgraded to match the styles of the other 5. And everything's being downgraded from the PSP graphics.
I think there's a decent chance, with the exception of 3 and 4. 3 and 4 got renamed to "3D Remake" or something, but the 2D games didn't change titles. Chrono Trigger got ugraded to that awful HD version. FF Tactics got updated in general.
So SE hates money right? this is the only reason why not releasing these on consoles as well...
IMO wouldn't be the weirdest thing in the world if they did it for FFV and VI steam/mobile. there will be virtually no reason to own or play those versions anymore
still not counting on it, but seems like the existence of these remasters is an acknowledgement they f'd up

Why couldn't they do it like the FF4 psp battle sprites from many years ago? Those looked great.
I'll be double dipping them on PC and iOS.
I'll be sure to buy it again on Playstation and Switch for sure when they come out on there too.

I'm actually okay with this, myself. If this is an attempt to create a baseline/definitive remaster, that's a good spot to place them at.
The real question is what art are they using for FF5 and FF6. You can't see them in the trailer.

New-ish. I've seen the Terra and Locke before. I think the FFVI pixel art designer posted them on her twitter a while back.

No, steam/mobiles sprites are different.
I'll be getting it on Steam for sure - but yes I want this on both Switch and PS4 so I can make it a quadruple buy.
