I mean, the demo is fully downloadable online at this point, it's just that nobody can access the contents of it yet.

You can't download it yet since you don't have access to it yet. It's fairly common practice to get something into a production environment but limit access to it. Hang tight, it's coming soon (hopefully)!
Yeah January 7th makes the most sense. If not that then the 31st but given almost all demos and such release during the 1st week of the month that is probably it.

I read someone on reddit is downloading it, but he claimed the download was going slow, that he'd notify later if everything ran correctly
as far as we know its encrypted, so its likely he's just downloading the file and nothing will happen

They must release the demo N O W. I don't want to watch it on youtube because of a leak.
I doubt it would be the finished game. A game of the caliber would signal the end of development on social media and then we'd have the period where the developers are actively working on squashing bugs and fine-tuning the game.
I don't believe its the full game. Square would not put up the game this early and it is likely something else.
I dont think Sony is gonna release one of their games on Switch
