It's a reference to Before Crisis. Avalanche tried to assassinate President Shinra in Junon. https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Before_Crisis_-Final_Fantasy_VII-That line Hediggar mentions in the demo. About if they are the same people that tried to take the Presidents life.
You know what I think?
Thats actually Yuffie. She is part of a group of assassins that tried to kill the president.
What does that mean? I honestly think we MIGHT get a glimpse of someone in a disguise who we will assume to be Yuffie. Not sure if they will 100% model her face, etc. But we may see her use her weapon. Like, we'll know its Yuffie but not actually see her. So the party still doesn't know its her when they eventually meet her later.

While the pair reaches the President before the attack, the President's military escort proves ineffective against AVALANCHE's soldiers, who infiltrate the President's hotel. As Reno stays with the President, the Player Turk clears the building before the President insists on leaving for the conference in spite of the danger.
Forced to act as the President's street escort, the Player Turk and the President enter the conference building where, dressed as Shinra troops, AVALANCHE momentarily captures the President before the Player Turk saves him as Reno returns to help. Cutting the power to the building Fuhito arrives and while Reno escapes with the President, the Player Turk is defeated by Fuhito. AVALANCHE has hijacked the Sister Ray cannon.
As Reno returns the President to his quarters, Rufus Shinra calls and notes the new Turk's progress before Veld informs him of the Sister Ray's hijacking. The President sends Reno to liberate it, leaving him open for Fuhito to enter the room and shoot him. Still alive, the President orders Veld to send in Sephiroth to destroy AVALANCHE.
In an interview they said the compilation was canon to this remake but they're not gonna add major stuff like Genesis to the main story.
Just a reminder those codes don't work in preorders not sure when it expires though. Unless they changed practice.I haven't preordered yet and PSN just gave me a 15% off code a day after the demo went live. I'm trying to control myself not to buy it yet since my son's bday is coming up. So hard...
To be fair, by that point we've already seen Sephiroth kill a giant dragon with one slash.Having Sephiroth onscreen doing more things absolutely lessens the impact of his iconic moments. Take the dead snake scene. A line like "Did Sephiroth do this?" doesnt hold anywhere near the same amount of weight if we've already seen the dude chop bridges in half.
Honestly, I don't feel like a 30 hour story about terrorists who fight against an evil corporation that ends with them escaping the city under said corporation actually need the appearance of "the main bad guy" to make it engrossing. This remake is obviously going for another approach and that could also be successful, but I disagree with the notion that hiding the ultimate antagonist in the first entry of a series can't work.I mean, your example proves my point. If they did a super-strict remake, that's exactly what we would be getting and it wouldn't make much sense. This is seemingly going to be a a long ass game, (nearly) equivelant to the length of the original FFVII. It doesn't make sense to put all the twists & reveals at the exact same points in the overarching story as in the original when the story is this greatly expanded. Sephiroth CAN be revealed earlier now that Midgar itself might take 30-35+ hours. We are still getting tons of build-up to his confrontation. Having to wait for, like, hour 50 for Sephiroth to make an appearance wouldn't make sense. They can play around with some stuff within the storyline.
Nomura-san also mentions that sidequests have been created with a focus on quality, in the same way as the main story. Since the city of Midgar is quite big, there are areas where you can travel by vehicle.

i agree, the only other characters i like its Elfé and Deneh (suposedly red xiii "wife"), but more due to the design and concept i think their story and background are kinda bad so it would need to be changed. There's some turks in before crisis with cool designs too, but none got my atention or are interesting.I'm guessing that novel character who'll show up is Evan Townshend, who is President Shinra's illegitimate son and a private detective. Probably a side quest giver, if I had to guess.
I hope they reference Cissnei and bring her in for one of the sequels, she's basically the only compilation character I'm really pulling for. The rest I kinda want wiped from existence or totally recontextualized.
I didn't think it was that bad when I pulled it out as far as you canSo do you guys think the camera will be improved notably by the time launch comes around?

this is a build from like October so maybe it will have improved
That's fucking insane. The way lighting interacts with material also looks photorealistic.
I wouldn't expect anything drastically different. Maybe in a patch down the line.So do you guys think the camera will be improved notably by the time launch comes around?
Max has his preview discussion on twitch after he finishes the demo playthrough. It was pretty spoilerly and sounded really insane at times. Like, really insane.
Can't think of a video, but I've done the demo both ways. Not really sure if you'll really notice a significant difference. Can't play the demo myself rn. Anyone know of a video of someone playing with the camera pulled back? Would love to see it.

Its probably not what it means. I am thinking its possible that it means that "hey we gotta go here, lets take the bus" cutscene before a mission. I don't expect use to be able to actively travel. Especially after the S7 plateI don't recall the leaks mentioning anything about vehicles or travel so that is interesting to hear.
I really hope that's true because after ff15 I'm preying they understood the reaction. They certainly did with the combat if nothing elseI mean everyone's talking about the headline but:

I wouldn't read too much into that or expect an open world or anything, but cool that they're trying to put a sense of scale to things. And good that they're trying to have decent side quests!

Are these available online yet?
Assuming they aren't insanely priced, I want the whole set.

That said, using the option to pull it back did wonders for me. It still gets a little messy in tight corridors but it's nothing game breaking, IMO.
I was watching this yesterday and it sounds nuts. That said, if anyone is at all sensitive to story spoilers, the should absolutely avoid this. Like, this goes into explicit detail on some major moments that did not happen in the original.
