I have seen (and been part of) so much discussion regarding FF that I really need to take a break. What better way than to look back on nearly 40 years of history and get pumped?

The rules are pretty lax here: what final battle theme got you so hyped you can barely contain yourself? Is it the final, final battle music that got you? Perhaps the final battle of a raid in FFXIV (looking at you, P12) or an expansion got your blood pumping? Maybe something in the FFVII Rebirth finale that made your stomach twist with electricity? Or is something simpler from back in the days of the NES/Famicom more your speed?

Anything that fits thematically, or is just good music, will work. Any arrangement that you think makes a theme sound its very best, please come forth. Mainline, spinoffs, expansions, it's all fair game!

Be sure to give a little explanation of what makes your pick so significant to you!

To start you off, and perhaps to show how far-reaching you can go, I'll just drop the theme of the final battle from the Pandaemonium raid in FFXIV. The lyrics are so perfectly tied to the villain of the storyline that it's almost hard to believe but even without that, the theme is an absolute club jam. What a treat. It's not my absolute favorite in FF, but I'll leave that to all you beautiful folks. Let's come together under the wonderful banner of epic FF finale music!!

You're Not Alone from FFIX. It should count because I say so!

Respect, I'll allow it. It's too good not to be permitted. Great choice, lol!

I wouldn't really include that theme since its just a side story with a superboss. Now something like The Final Day is glorious as a final theme for that.

On topic as well, I would say Dancing Mad.

I consider it the final boss of Shadowbringers even if it's in a post patch, but it's To The Edge for me. No contest.

Athena The Tireless One is dope, right on, op! Mentioning the first tracks that came to mind.

FFXIV: So many. The one that instantly came to mind is To The Edge. Even if you don't know how the circumstances in which was produced, that song feels so decisive, solemn, resolute and sad like nothing else. Just an incredible track. I'm also a big fan of Wayward Daughter. My thoughts on the SB patches aside, that's a great song. For dungeons, Of Countless Stars and Mortal Instants... Every time I hear them it takes me back to how strongly I felt at that point in the story and how perfectly these songs capture how I felt.

Lightning Returns: Almighty Bhunivelze is an incredible epic of a song. It's chaotic, it's a medley of many leitmotifs and themes we've been hearing since the original XIII, it's loud, it's tense and it somehow works, all thirteen minutes of it.

FFVII: I love Birth of a God and I cannot wait to hear how the Rebirth project handles the track. Yes One Winged Angel is cool, but this one's great too.

FFV: I'm a big fan of the final battle theme. I love that bassline. Prelude to the Void is another great dungeon theme, nice and ominous.

FFIX: If we can include secondary/final map themes, I'm a fan of The Evil Mist Returns for the same reasons I enjoy Prelude to the Void. I also like hearing more ominous themes when V and IX have some of the cheeriest overworld themes in FF (IMO).

FFIV: I love Another Moon. My favorite final overworld (ish?) theme in the series for sure.

FFXI's Shadow Lord theme from the base game's main quest line.

Honestly, the whole trip through Xarcabard > Castle Zvhal > Inner Keep has awesome music and the enemies/danger set the tone accordingly, it's such a stark difference compared to FFXIV where the monsters tickle you and you curbstomp the big bad dude in two minutes flat lol.

Final battle? Probably Dancing mad from VI. Though the Grievous+Ultimecia gauntlet had some awesome stuff.

I dont think MMO's count, you have all posted like 5 different "final themes" from XIV lol

off the top of my head it would be the ones from VI or VIII

I'm inclined to agree. Maybe the final battle theme of the expansion story, but throwing in all the raid themes, particularly ones not from the final tier, doesn't really fit the spirit of "final battle theme".

That said, The Extreme still clears those requirements in XIV too lol

IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, everything in XIV, XVI.

I particularly love when XIV uses the classic themes for raids, like it made particularly great use out of The Extreme in E12S. Boss has all sorts of time manipulation mechanics, but you only get the second phase in the Savage difficulty.

With Hearts Aligned from XIV Endwalker hands down for me.

it might be because the last 2 hours of that expansion are a complete whirlwind of emotions but cultivating in that theme really just pulled it all together unlike anything else.

I am appalled, APPALLED, that no one yet posted the only objectively correct answer, which is clearly Battle on the Big Bridge (FF5):

Runner ups include Those Who Fight Further (FF7):

And The Man with the Machine Gun (FF8):
You know what? Scratch that, it's actually Blinded By Light (FF13):

And do make sure to check out Uematsu's The Black Mages renditions of this tracks, truly masterful.

None of these are final battle themes? Am I confused or something?

So good! About Final Fantasy XVI, we can add the music from the latest DLC, which we heard in part in the first trailer for the game and which almost gives me chills every time:

Goood, I really need to get the DLC
I like this one a lot, but only with the voice overs that aren't in the track itself.
Which voice overs? The ones with the cast cheering Clive?
