Yet shadowed by their triumph in the First, the Warrior of Light and Scions of the Seventh Dawn are home at last. An even greater calamity than refulgent oblivion has been building in their absence, however─a second advent of the Final Days. Should all despair, the myriad conflicts that now ravage the land cannot but foretoken an end to life in the Source.

The approach of the so-called "Final Days" caused a great schism among the ancients, culminating in the star's shattering into fourteen reflections, incomplete and imperfect. With the second coming of that selfsame calamity looming on the horizon, the Warrior of Light must stand firm as hope's last bastion

The Warrior of Light with a renewed sense of determination marches forward to change destiny, but they are not alone. Aiding them in their journey are the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Together they will have to stand against the looming Final Days and other dangerous threats.

Thavnair: In the Bounty's southeastern waters lies the isle of Thavnair, where tropical coastline soon gives way to dense rainforest─though the intense heat and sweltering humidity remain much the same. The region is known as a rich source of the magically infused stone giantsgall, and the distinctive violet glow from its rocky outcrops lingers in the memories of visitors long after they depart its shores.

Labyrinthos: Deep below the streets of Old Sharlayan lies a vast subterranean environment created as a repository for tomes and treatises on every subject imaginable, gathered from all corners of the world. To protect the priceless and irreplaceable, the climate of Labyrinthos is aetherically regulated.

Garlemald: Despite being situated on the frozen plains of northern Ilsabard, the imperial capital overcame the natural disadvantages of its location─and many a further obstacle facing the Empire─with the power of magitek. The rise of this burgeoning industry spurred rapid urban development in recent decades─until the sprawling metropolis was brought to its knees by civil war. Now, the once-proud jewel of the Empire is a sea of desolation.

Mare Lamentorum: Though its name may conjure images of the briny deep, this region of the moon is awash with naught but arid basalt. It is far from devoid of interest, however, as the origin and purpose of the apparently artificial structures spotted on its surface have yet to be ascertained.

Old Sharlayan: Ensconced in a lonely northern archipelago and ever blessed by the wise auspices of Thaliak, the gleaming white edifices of this city stand at the center of Sharlayan society. First among many dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and scientific advancement is the Studium, the world's most prestigious place of learning.

Radz-at-Han: This bustling city on the Near Eastern isle of Thavnair is renowned as a prosperous trading hub and the birthplace of alchemy. Over the course of its storied history, it has produced countless influential figures and ingenious creations that have since made their ways to distant shores. Perched atop a massive pillar of rock, its ornate buildings boast vibrant hues rivaled only by those of its locally produced textiles.

Of tall stature and slender frame, the Viera's physical appearance is strikingly similar to that of the Hyur and Elezen, save for their distinctive long ears. Adhering to a strict code known as the Green Word, they are prohibited from contact with the outside world under threat of exile. Their society is purely matriarchal, and males of age are seldom, if ever, found within the bounds of any village. Loporrits: Eorzean myth tells of a curious wanderer known as Namingway, descended from an unknown people that traveled to the realm from the moon. The Loporrits appear to have much in common with that being of legend, though questions regarding their current whereabouts─and much else besides─remain unanswered.

Arkasodara: Like the other Matanga peoples, the Arkasodara resemble the great marid both in appearance and brawn. They are indigenous to the isle of Thavnair, and founded the city-state of Radz-at-Han together with Au Ra and Hyur migrants. Their bulky frames belie their deftness of hand, and their thirst for knowledge has led many to pursue mastery of the alchemic arts

Job Quest Location: Ul'dah

The Garleans' forebears were once humble farmers who made their home among the sun-drenched fields of southern Ilsabard. That was, until they were driven from this paradise by invaders wielding arcane magicks. Forced north into the frigid mountains, the survivors sought a means to tap into the reservoir of aether otherwise closed to them. A daring few found their answer within the void, binding themselves to its creatures to gain verboten power─power fed by the souls of the slain. Once more they took up their scythes, this time to reap a crimson harvest.

Sage (Healer)

Job Quest Location: Limsa Lominsa

The nation of Sharlayan is the cradle of knowledge, and the Studium its foremost institution of learning. Yet more so than its incomparable library and formidable assemblage of Archons, this prestigious academy is famed for blending traditionally distinct fields to produce revolutionary new disciplines. Among these, perhaps the most distinguished is an altruistic art which draws upon the wisdom of aetherology, sorcery, and medicine. Dubbed somanoutics, the art seeks to heal and protect by manipulating corporeal aether through the use of nouliths, a flying array of foci. Practitioners are dedicated to the betterment of mankind, and for their wisdom and compassion, eventually came to be known simply as sages.

- OK, you have been hyping this expansion, I'm interested. So, can I start from Endwalker?

Unfortunately, NO. Final Fantasy XIV requires all players to experience all the expansions before entering their latest expansion and rightfully so as there is a lot of lore and story from previous expansions that carry over from the prior expansions to Endwalker unlike other Final Fantasy games where each game in the mainline series is independent of each other.

NOTE: There are methods to skip all the content in XIV and directly start from Endwalker but this requires investing another 50$ dollars (25$ for the Story Skip and another 25$ to level up one job to access the Endwalker Content) in addition to the price you pay to get the expansion.

Personally, I recommend not doing this as not only will you miss out on some of things that make this game truly great but you will also be investing something you don't know if you'll like so I always recommend starting at the free trial to get a feel for the game.

- I have heard there is a free trial?

The memes are true, there is a Free Trial for Final Fantasy XIV. This Free Trial gives access to the whole base game, which is A Realm Reborn along with the really, really good expansion Heavensward and gives you an unrestricted playtime until level 60 (which is where you finish Heavensward).

NOTE: if you have claimed any XIV free expansions in the past with your Square Enix account then you are likely void from entering the free trial (Sorry ☹) and will be using the days available on the offer you claimed. For example: Folks who claimed the free starter pack years ago with their account will likely have to play with that which gives you 30 free days instead of the no limits that Free Trial players will get. Please check and ensure the same before you begin.

ADDITIONALLY: During the early days of Endwalker's Early Access period, Free Trial players may find it difficult to enter their respective servers. This is due to the game prioritizing subscribed players. For the best experience, Free Trial players are recommended to play at low peak hours (usually in the morning) or once the initial rush has died down.

- Do I need to have prior experiences with MMO's to play XIV?

While having some experiences with MMO's are beneficial to your overall journey, the lack of any experience will not hinder your enjoyment of XIV. FFXIV is many players' gateway into MMO's especially over the past few months and the game is renowned for its player friendly worlds. Many and more are willing to help out new players and guide them through their first steps, while the systems may daunt you initially as you progress, you will quickly be able to grasp on to it. Additionally, the ERA community here on this thread and the Novice Network are great resources to take advantage of if you so choose.

- Can I just play the story?

Yes…..to an extent. Final Fantasy XIV is still very much an Online game so while you can experience the story on your own, you will still have to form online parties of 4 to go through dungeons for story progression. Also, you cannot play any of the content without connecting online and logging in so being connected to the internet is a must.

EDIT: As of August 23rd 2022, new players can form AI Parties with NPCs to complete story content using the Duty Support for content up to Heavensward. This will be updated over time to cover content from Stormblood as well later in the year. You will still need to be connected online and have a subscription but you can now clear these dungeons solo without other players.

- I'm out of the free trial and I am interested in continuing my XIV journey, how should I proceed?

Awesome, should you wish to experience it all, I recommend getting your hands on the Complete Edition of FINAL FANTASY XIV ($59.99 USD) can be purchased, which will include A Realm Reborn and all currently released expansions. Please also note that the Collector's Edition of Endwalker does not include A Realm Reborn. Alternatively, you can also get FINAL FANTASY XIV: Endwalker ($39.99 USD) includes all prior expansions with the purchase, including Shadowbringers, Stormblood, and Heavensward. A Realm Reborn or the Starter Edition ($19.99 USD) must be purchased and registered separately before Endwalker can be registered. You are also entitled to 30 free days once you purchase either the Complete or Starter Edition.

NOTE: You DO NOT get free days when purchasing just the Endwalker expansion.

- Does the copy of FFXIV I buy on PC carry over to my PlayStation account?

Unfortunately, NO. You will have to buy each copy separately for each system as they are different entitlements.

- Is there a monthly subscription? PS Plus Requirements on PlayStation?

Yes, there is a monthly subscription for XIV after you get over the free trial and the 30 days you get once you purchase the Complete/Starter Editions. The fee starts at $12.99 for 30 days. You also don't need a Plus subscription

Jobs Guide

Jobs are evolved from your classes in FFXIV, in the beginning you chose from one of 9 classes that becomes your job throughout your journey but you are not tied to one job/class unlike other MMOs, you can quickly change over and try multiple jobs and level them up and these are not restricted to roles. For example, if you begin as a tank that doesn't stop you from trying a healer class/job. The options available to you are flexible.

Fell deep into Eureka the past week and got to Pyros last night. The map design is much better than Bozja, but it took me a bit to figure out what was going on with the Pagos cliffs. Many fates were missed, lol.

Might be a weird question to ask in the OT but it popped to my mind when I saw this in the latest threads list: anyone know of a good Youtube playthrough of Endwalker that focuses on the story, so no commentary (or very light at least), but also shows everything, so the gameplay parts (talking to NPCs, running from quest to quest, dungeons, etc.) aren't skipped?

I ask because I am, to be frank, extremely sick of FFXIV's gameplay at this point, but I'd still like to see the story to its end. Tried watching one of those "Endwalker movie version" videos on Youtube earlier this year but that was garbage, they're literally just the cutscenes so it kind of jumps all over the place.

How's the activity of it these days?
Surprisingly good, haven't had any issues getting into parties for prep/nm. Hard to tell how many bots there were, but I think there was regularly about 40-70 people. Might be a bit leaner during the week days.

I'm yet to do either Eureka or Bozja, but I definitely want to.
They're fun, but definitely grindy. The fight designs for the Bozja encounters are a blast, but I haven't been in Bozja for several months and can't speak to how active it is. I think they're definitely worth going through to see the story/main content.

I want to do it for the story, as a big Matsuno fan, but also for the glam. On a different note, I've cleared every single sidequest in the game now. Feels good.

How's the activity of it these days?

In Elemental there are way more people on Eureka than in Bozja for some reason, with BA being run almost daily. I think with every content lull, people gravitate to Eureka more than Bozja (which is pretty much done exclusively for leveling these days).

Back to my leveling kick too. I think I'm 2 weeks behind on Aglaia but spam running raids just sucks motivation out of me so I've just been slow rolling Heavensward relics doing FATEs and stuff getting my jobs up to 90. Currently about to get my last healer to 60, then I can go back to DPS to get them to 70. I can't wait until I can clean my inventory of the various bits of Tome gear I no longer need.

New thread, yey!

Well, in order to do all the job quests in Endwalker i'm leveling a Bard because i didn't have a physical ranged DPS and, since you go from level 1, decided to use a controller to play. I've never used one for this game because i always though MMORPG = K/M but DAMN SON, i'm having so much fun learning to play the game like this. Right now i'm Bard lvl 50 and, even though i get confused sometimes pressing the incorrect combination of buttons it still worked for me and i can see myself going all the way to 90 like this and experiment with my other jobs later.

Edit: Oh, btw! I've never done Eureka and now that i'm leveling my Bard, should i use this opportunity to go in there?.

Unlike the Bozja zones, the Eureka zones do not grant normal EXP. Only elemental EXP which is for the leveling system inside Eureka zones. If the Stormblood Relic Weapons or the Ozma mount doesn't interest you, probably best to avoid it.

To enter Bozja you need to have finished the MSQ up to patch 5.1 (Lv80) and finished the Stormblood Alliance Raids (Lv70). Once you have the first zone unlocked, you can enter it with a job that is at least Lv71. While you are inside the instance, you can switch jobs around the spawn point, you are not locked in.

Why are some people lucky man? And I'm not. I'd sell my soul for a single drop of the Cassie earring, Blitzring/Speed Belt, Copycat Bulb, three lines on WT, my retainer coming back with that new dog minion, Gabriel Mk III mount and raptor mount from Bozja, etc. All content I've done so many times and nothing to show for it. Over 60 mil right there for earning each of those things just once. I want to be blessed. I wanna reach gil cap someday and experience that sweet, sweet emptiness upon realizing how meaningless it all was. Aaaah…

I can't think of anyone that both doesn't talk/talk much and doesn't go into depth with the gameplay/story out of who I watch. Closest would be someone like Mystic's Library, Shenpai Streams or Tenacious_Bree, probably more but they are just off the top of my head. They talk a decent amount, but a lot of it is just reading the text and commenting on it before moving on quickly (sometimes there's those annoying twitch emojis but eh)

Help i've decided to do all the ARR Relics and books is killing me. I did the WHM one on content so i only have to do it 9 times, but like omg. i finished Ninja and Summoner so far on books and everything else is on that step just waiting for me to do it but like Man the ARR Relic grind is a doozy

My only recommendation is to please, don't do that. Or just do it *extremely* slowly so you don't go insane.

I would rather do an ARR relic than try to make another Resistance weapon.

absolutely begging and pleading with SE to make teleporting between aetherytes (as in going up to one and clicking a "teleport" prompt) free with charges only for if you're teleporting from anywhere.

If you want free teleports, do the weekly hunts for ARR, HW and SB for allied and Centurio seals and trade them for the free Aetheryte Tickets. Surprisingly quick to get to the point where you're getting more tickets a week than you're using then you can just top of a 999 stack every so often.

^ Aetheryte tickets are where it's at. I always maintain around 600 stock, and have it set to only use them if the teleport is over 500 gil. Teleports these days are too damn expensive for obvious reasons.

Yeah I did the same. I just got into a hunt LS, popped in for any announced S rank, and one day I woke up and was sitting on 2000 aetheryte tickets with enough points for another 1000. I stopped doing hunts since then and have been slowly using the tickets, but getting free teleports is easy. If you REALLY wanna go fast, there are still Stormblood hunt trains that get done from time to time, join in on those for centurio marks that could be spent on aetheryte tickets (nuts can't be spent on tickets yet AFAIK so ShB and EW trains won't get you those).

Yeah, it's a shame about Nuts not buying Ventures or Aetheryte tickets.

Nuts are straight worth less to me than allied/centurion seals as a result tbh.

Yup. I cleared out the new cosmetic stuff upon unlocking the new Nut vendor then had enough to get the new mount when it was added and now they are back to being near worthless due to getting more actual value out of the others types.

Is it possible they'll add those rewards(ventures and tickets) next expansion when we get a new modern currency?

honestly I wish they added a 999/999 of both clusters mount, it would give people something to grind for and help the games ecponamy by getting rid of the glut of metria.
