Shouldn't it be called a lightwhip? It's no longer resembling a saber!

Norway
Laying the groundwork for the Legendary Indiana Solo to appear. He's called Solo because he's alone by the way.

I've played enough shadowrun with fools that chose a monofilament whip to know how she is going to end up dying LOL

Zygerrian electro-whips were already in Clone Wars and Bad Batch, so a light whip is not that strange. I imagine the damage output will be more like a saber on training mode, since the power is spread out over a much larger surface.

The slavers in the Clone Wars show used light whips when they subdued Anakin and Obi Wan.

It's not really a new idea.

Looks like it could fun to watch. Hardly the most outlandish thing in the series. Honestly, I like seeing them go for broke and try crazy new things. "Fans" are going to complain regardless. They've been complaining since Vader turned out to be Luke's dad, Leia turned out to be his sister, and the Empire was defeated with the help of little teddy bear people.

Those aren't a lightsaber. They're just scifi whips in the same sense that vibroblades are knifes that vibrate. Vernestra's lightwhip has all the lethality of a saber so it can slice into things.

Depending on the setting IIRC.

EDIT: Looking into it they trade lethality for flexibility but less care meant the loss of a limb.
With the force, anything is a light boomerang
Fun fact, in the current canon one of Luke's students literally killed themselves because they tried to do a lightsaber boomerang maneuver.

Really not a fan of all the High Republic stuff to be honest. This especially looks pretty stupid (besides the fact it's been done on different sci-fi and fantasy stories already) and breaks the logic for me of the way lightsabers are shown to work in the Star Wars universe.

Vernestra Rwoh is one of the biggest badasses from the HR era. A jedi knight at 15 years old which is more unprecedented than Anakin being a council member in his twenties. And a person with a particular force ability that causes her to have very intense visions when she enters hyperspace, one of which is the reason she created her lightwhip. It's something the nightsisters were known for and something ancient jedi used against the sith.

If anything, out of all the characters she probably has the highest chance of surviving the events of this show given that she lived through the cavalcade of events in the High Republic that epitomized the "How it started, How's it going" meme.

In short, Vern rocks and the HR is a far deal less ridiculous than the old EU.

Dumb as hell, just like the darksaber, using the lightsaber like a helicopter etc. There's a reason George used to treat everything except the films as non-canon fluff (not that he didn't let this silly stuff seep into the Clone Wars cartoon too).

In a universe with space wizards it's always funny seeing folks question literally any addition made to this fiction.

Looks fun.
