With how much shit the different food industries try to curry favors, there's no chance in hell that a good number of food influencers aren't on the payroll.

And if nothing else, with so much bullshit out there people get confused about what's actually healthy, reasonably balanced meals and little ultra-processed junk among that, and just give up in frustration.

I swear some of these diets are getting pushed entirely by meat production companies

I've lost weight eating more meat, and cutting out grains. Hardly ever eat rice, bread etc anymore. I rotate through sirloin steak, chicken breast, and salmon for main dishes. And I've gone from eating rice with every meal like I was raised to as a hispanic, I have veggies as a side dish, roasted brussel sprouts, roasted asparagus, or a salad.

I am at a loss how eating butter like that is supposed to help you lose weight.

Also drink more water, and when I want to drink something sweeter, I have a gatorade zero sugar, its only 5 calories in a 20 oz bottle.

Nobody listens to actual doctors or healthcare professionals anymore. It's all fitness influencers with barely any credentials.

Personally I think anything overly restrictive isn't a proper long term diet. However, for my SO, plant oxalate is a huge problem so we are still on a more protein based diet but try to incorporate as much veggie and fruits that we found tolerable for her.

There's a former pro climber I follow and highly respect named Dave McLeod who's also a trained nutritionist that performed an experiment where he only ate McDonald's patties for 8 weeks. If you have 1h20m to spare, it's a very interesting watch. The video is full of references to scientific papers and the analysis is very thorough, at least from what my untrained eyes can judge. I have to admit I was surprised by the results.

There are some good ones on social media. I like Dr. Alo.
Yes.
Dr Spencer Nadolsky as well. Alan Aragon is ok (he has a pretty questionable past tho). The Barbell Medicine dudes (Jordan Feigenbaum and Austin Baraki) are great for fitness and nutrition advice. They are two MDs who were former Starting Strength coaches then separated to do their own thing

I've been eating that way for nearly 5 years, and I still feel good. My mindset is find what works for you that isn't a bunch of processed junk and stick with it. The zealot sides of these diets or ways of eating can get really weird.

I've thought about trying a version of this diet to see if it helps relieve my IBS-D. High-fiber foods (yes, even soluble fiber) tend to make me go a lot more without firming anything up, so I'm thinking about avoiding a lot of veggies/greens. It would be hard to stay healthy without fruits/veggies though :(

It's more about people coming to social media wanting their pre-existing notion validated (e.g. white people looking for a reason to not eat veggies because they don't know how to season their food). No doctor that hasn't lost their license is ever going to be able to provide that.

Carnivore diet is full of shit. Can you lose weight with it? Sure, just like you can lose weight eating nothing but Big Macs (it's only 550 calories!) The long term consequences however should be obvious.

Also for the whole "veggies are bad actually" narrative

View: https://youtu.be/aWbFfEOCnag?si=PdHp3V8kSYfEwnu5

The idea that veggies are bad is just so obviously stupid. Like look at our closest relatives, they're omnivores sure, but plant based stuff, especially fruit, makes up the vast majority of their diet. Humans did evolve to be more dependent on meat (or similar substitutes) compared to other apes to accommodate the extra energy needs of our large brains and because it was probably a more convenient source of food on the savanna's where we evolved compared to fruit

my uncle is on it, lost a lot of weight. sounds unhealthy as hell but he competes in BBQ tourneys regularly so there's no veering him from meat anyhow

The only reason it is good for weight loss too is you are cutting out carbs and sugar. That's like the most major contributions to weight issues.

Cutting out veggies and fruits means you are losing so much else as well.

And it's not just missing out on all the nutrients and fibers of fruits and veggies - it's all the saturated fat that comes with an all animal diet (yogurts, cheese, beef, etc).

People really don't understand that it's not just about calories. Leafy greens, berries, apples, etc, have hundreds and hundreds of polyphenols, flavonols, and various other plant compounds per serving that have actual medicinal effects in our bodies.

I tried this for a bit due to some chronic health problems, and being desperate for a solution. But I found eating nothing but meat got disgusting very quickly, and caused my resting heart rate to get really high (around 90-100). Not to mention my BMs were...messy and unpredictable to say the least. Do not recommend.

Yeah i'll tell ya the biggest change for me to start losing weight besides just eating less in general from the Ozempic was i cut out all soda, and almost all sugar and carbs. Which as others stated is basically just Keto.

Sugar and Carbs really don't provide any benefit to us except tasting good.

I wouldn't put carbs along sugar like that. I'm nearly 40 and ran a 5K under 21 minutes literally yesterday. When I got back into running last summer my weight went from 182 to 157 and has stayed there ever since. I eat an absolute crazy amount of carbs. I'm like a bottomless pit for carbs. I put it all to use though.

Colon Cancer: The Diet

100%

this reads like people who take offence at vegetarianism

I mean, yeah, there are certainly people that fall into this category. Some people just want to eat like shit and feel good about it.

I had a coworker that basically idolized Ron Swanson for all the wrong reasons and ate nothing but a ziploc bag of bacon for breakfast and was into bullet coffee and all that nonsense. He lost some weight, but that doesn't mean it was/is healthy and isn't going to come back to bite him later.

How can someone not eat fruit and veggies I simply cannot comprehend. Let alone a whole day, I cannot go two subsequent meals without any. I can go months without any animal byproduct but zero plant food is literally impossible for me. My body requires them lol

I say this as someone who has been on this diet for 4 years, received tremendous health benefits from it and will likely stay on it forever: If you have a health issue that you think warrants eating carnivore, bring it up with your doctor. Whether or not carnivore is good or sustainable long term is not the point. Elimination diets suck ass. Whether it's the minimum effective intervention for whatever set of issues you have is the question and the answer is much more likely to be "no" than otherwise.

On the other hand, if you've exhausted other possibilities and you suffer from conditions that could be improved by carnivore, suggest it to your doctor, especially if they are a GI specialist. If your condition is severe, they will be open to this kind of experimentation.

I love all of these roided up influencer dudes in their 40s who blatantly lie on camera about their fitness. I'm stunned anyone with the gift of eyesight believe these weirdos.

I can understand cutting sugar, but 'good' Carbs are very important for your overall health.

It's bascially keto. Keto is good for weight loss but absolutely horrible for maintaining (At least for me who gyms regularely.)

Lifting weighs without carbs is the most exhausting thing ever.

Our brains run on glucose, and there aren't any good studies on the long-term effects of ketosis to know if it's good enough for that.
